PSA group's financial woes don't seem to be getting any better. Recent talk in the press of  a 30% stake being taken by Chinese firm Dongfeng.

You have to wonder what Citroens will look like in a few years time - narrower headlights maybe?

But seriousy, it's only a matter of time before the Citroen brand gets glabalised beyond recognition, and loses its identity, a real shame for such an iconic, leading edge company

Any thoughts?

It seems that when PSA need to economize they do it on the Citroen brand.    So they've given the C6 the chop and dispensed with hydraulic suspension on most of the C5 range.   Maybe soon all they'll need to do is either fit a Peugeot or Citroen badge on a different front end.. B).

Unfortunately they've been outplayed on the cheap front, trying to sell DS3s in the region of €20k when the Dacia Duster is under €10k.Their big hope is the 208....

No traditional large Citroen estate. Poor quality bits and screwing people on particulate filter issues, like the low fluid warning only being possible to reset if the tank is refilled to the top, not something you'd do with a 120k mile car assuming it would get to 240k. Why does it need a reset? Just topping it up should do..... DMF that lasts only 120k miles.

Early HDi cambelt issues. 1.6 turbo issues.

Enjoying too much in dividends one year and not putting enough aside or investing enough. Closing the big factory in the North of Paris where jobs for the 8,000 put out of work will be almost impossible to find.

Resting on their laurels whilst the likes of Kia built themselves up from nothing. PSA 7 year guarantee? Will the car get that far?

I'd be surprised if there was any large element of PSA still in France in ten years time, and there may be no PSA in ten years time.

Seems odd driving back from France today seeing all those bottom end C5 Mk IIIs with the rear ends squatting down. Mine is an Exclusive so still levels up.

PS - Mk III C5 RTA manual available in France, bought one, covers 1.6 & 2.0 HDi.(Called Mk II but covers 03/2008->)

The RTA manual for the mark 3 C5 has been out for a few years. It is not currently in stock at Amazon UK but is at Amazon fr  http://www.amazon.fr/Rta-B737-Citro%C3%ABn-Depuis-2008/dp/2726873758/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1388499998&sr=8-1&keywords=rta+c5+II

The 2.0 hdi covered is the 138 and 140 hp, code RHR and RHF. It does not cover the 160 hp but what the difference is from the lower power engines I do not know off hand.

It could work in Citroens favour to have Chinese investment. They are quite fanatical about top end Citroens and have released the DS 5LS and it looks like a superb version of the DS5. Not sure however if it will ever get as far as the European market.

The chinease have been desperate to get into the Europeane market, this is one way to get in, the reason w aint been flooded with chinease cars yet is the European safety standards, as we all know Citroen is fanatical about safety,

I hope they just dont take away the special thing that Citroen bring to the car market. In my eyes Citroen has always lead the way in design apart from a couple of cars but they have always stood out and ahead of there time, the value from a citroen is great with spec list and safety, i bet citroen could design a simple basic car like a dacia (and i mean as basic) and sell it for the same price or less. Lets not forget Dacia is owned by Renault and built from left overs from other models. Me personally i would go for the citroen owned not renault owned cheap car as my experiance with renault is they suck!!

Now Citroen is going to the chinease we will see some small car in the near future to beat Dacia in value. So it could be a good thing

The joint venture with the Chinese is almost there.   It seems they will be equal partners with the French Government and the Peugeot family.   How long before our Citroens are shipped from China?................ But surely the French Government wouldn't agree to more of their own factories closing.
