GZ100 Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Hi I have just bought a Citroen C4 Cachet. There are a few jobs needed on the car and I am looking for some advise/direction . Firstly the unlocking button on the key does not work. Can be very annoying as you have to unlock the car from the passenger side. Secondly the front right driver door has an incredible empty sound when closed. Cleary there is some sort of sound barrier(my opinion) missing from the door. Should any car mecahnic be able to fix this up or would contacting a scrap yard be best option in terms of sourcing whatever sound barrier is required.? Thanks for taking the rime in reading this post and look forward to a positive response. Quote
coastline taxis Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Hello and welcome to the forum.the key problem is it the black plastic part of the key that is broke (if so they are just a couple of pounds on ebay for a new case) and does it still lock the carThe sound proofing would be a dealer part as they are glued on and tear when removing them Quote

Would the new black part not need to be programmed to the car if purchased over ebay? Thanks for the help. Will try the sound proofing with nearest dealer. Quote
Johndouglas Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 It's just the case and the buttons you'd be using. Transfer your own innards into it. Quote

Transfer your own innards into it.I took the key apart, Its the circuit board that is the problem. This is what needs replacing, is it best bring to a citroen dealer, would you have any possible website suggestions that could help me get this solved. Thanks for the reply... :D Quote
paul.h Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Are you sure it is the circuit board, are there signs of damage since other possibilities could be the battery, it may need initialising to the car if the battery has been replaced (see the handbook how to do this), it could be the receiver in the car (I think it may be part of the comms 2000 steering column switch unit).
