citrophile Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Hi AllI have been given a minor! ultimatum from SWMBO so it’s time for me to finally strip my 2005 VTR and reclaim my driveway. My thoughts are that I should keep as many of the “useful†bits as possible as they should all fit my current 2005 Exclsusive so I wondered what the views were about keeping the following or anything else I may not have thought about.Front headlight units (xenon directional)Rear light clustersSide repeatersStarter motor (it was new a few months before I had to retire the car)Fuses/RelaysCentre console/fascia switch modulesWindow switchesParking sensorsFront spot lightsInterior lightsHigh level brake lightTow bar wiringBoot lockWing mirrorsRadio module/CD ChangerBSI and other electronic modulesWiper motorsElectric window motorsVarious internal trimsI can’t keep any of the bigger body items like doors, bonnet, boot etc.CheersRob Quote
Johndouglas Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 If you are keeping that lot, I would add the xenon headlamp washer system. The plastic spray bars cost a fortune if you need to buy them from a dealer. Quote
paul.h Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 I would add the engine sensors, air flow meter, battery if it is not too old and you can be bothered to charge it every month or so, suspension pump, front and rear suspension struts (front are about £330 and rear about £150), maybe height sensors. alexjfisher Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Radiator fan? I've recently discovered they can be quite expensive. :( Quote
Johndouglas Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 I don't see the alternator on your list. Personally I wouldn't worry about removing the towbar wiring. New stuff isn't all that expensive - unless it's dedicated. Quote
citrophile Posted May 29, 2014 Author Posted May 29, 2014 Thanks all for the useful replies. I have now added the following to my list: Xenon headlamp washer systemEngine sensors, airflow sensor, inlet electrovalvesCentral locking actuatorsAlternatorCallipersHP pumpComms 2000Door handlesRadiator/Cooling fan assemblyAC condensorAC compressorElectric steering pumpFront & Rear height adjustersAs for other suggestions:The hydraulic suspension pump is dead. That and the badly corrroded hydraulic pipes were the reason I had to get another one, although if I knew then what I now know about C5's I would have repaired them myself......c'est la vie...!!!Can't take the struts off as need to keep the car moveable. There was nothing wrong with the engine and gearbox but I have since taken a couple of bits such as EGR valve and water pipes etc.Do you think its worth keeping some other engine stuff like injectors/fuel rails water pump, vacuum pump......???Is the cat/dpf worth anything? Finally, if anyone else has a need for something send me a PM. Can't promise I'll have everything and it may be some time before I get everything off.Rob Quote
Boonaldo08 Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I too have a 2005 VTR mk2 estate that i have clogging my driveway, its a 1.6 hdi with a rebuilt turbo, new oil feed pipe, but with oil galleries still clogged so it wont spin, plus the impeller nut needs tightening slightly more if it were to spin. The DPF has been emptied of its blockage and is a hollow pipe. I now have a 2.0 hdi exclusive which i am happy with (apart from a couple of things which i will post about).Anyways if anyone is looking for any bits at all please DM me and i will get back to you.ThanksPaul Quote
