all of you that have an exclusive c4 picasso or have the pneumatic rear suspension you won't want to miss this. 

 

Watchdog on BBc1 on Wednesday 2 july 2014. will be quizzing citroen about the dangerous design fault that makes the c4 suspension go down on its own and asking why its not a recall.

It is good to have a representative from Citroen on our forum and hopefully you will be able to help members with the problems on their cars.

It is just a hope we may get some help but CitroenUK has not been back since their post, possibly they have been scouring the internet for anything to do with Watchdog to avoid bad publicity - but a forum that is mostly full of posts asking for help with problems on Citroen cars would be a good place to gain good publicity.

 

I did not see the programme so if anyone has any details then post them here.

I've just watched a recording of the section of Watchdog which covers the Picasso suspension. Apparently more than 40 owners have complained about a suspension fault whereby the level of the car gradually drops and the ride becomes bumpy. This is happening on vehicles which are 6 years old or even less. Citroen claim that there's no design fault and that it's fair wear and tear. Owners have been quoted around £400 for replacement units. Watchdog had two "expert" engineers look at the suspension units and both agreed that the rubber shouldn't degrade in such a short time and that it's not acceptable that Citroen fails to accept responsibility. A motoring reporter mentioned the fact that on the current Grand Picasso models, the air suspension has been dropped and replaced by conventional steel springs. The outcome of the Watchdog report was that Citroen have agreed to pay 80% of replacement costs on vehicles under ten years old or less than 120000 miles.

Although Citroen have made the offer to pay 80% of the cost of replacing the airbags, anyone who had the spring conversion fitted can only claim for reverting back to airbags as the springs take them out of the vehicle specs.This despite the springs being cheaper, more reliable and are now fitted to the new models. Many people had the springs fitted because of the shortage of spare airbags meaning their vehicle would have been off the road for an extended period. A poor showing from Citroen this time I think.
