PaulLeonard Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Hi all Some of you are aware of my various problems which I am trying to financially sort out but I have 2 little problems which I am hoping will be as cheap as possible solutions. Past history, clutch went. Basically, the other day the "Anti Pollution Fault" came on. Hasn't cleared for days and usually when I get on the motorway; the next day it clears. Well I went on the motorway yesterday and the car struggled. Going down the M2 at 70ish MPH and there is a slight increase in hill which bought my car down to around 50. The car doesn't even go past 30K revs so it is a little slow getting back up to 70. This happened for around 26 miles. Can anyone please advise on if I can clear this problem some other way? Was about to go somewhere today and it came up with "Top up Engine Oil" so I went to check the oil level and there was virtually anything there. :( Come to think of it, my garage who fixed the clutch also said they drained all the engine oil and was going to put some new oil in. I am now thinking that they forgot? I have possibly driven 745 miles without oil :( Thanks Paul Quote
PaulLeonard Posted July 27, 2014 Author Posted July 27, 2014 Sorry again, what Oil should I buy? Paul Quote
paul.h Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Your handbook will tell you which engine oil you need.Strange removing engine oil to do a clutch, usually the gearbox oil is lost when the drive shafts are removed. Also running so far with no engine oil would likely seize the engine - are you sure the oil is not being burnt due to a worn engine or worn turbo or a head gasket problem. Has the engine management light come on, since an anti pollution fault is likely to cause this to come on and put the engine in to limp mode which will limit the performance and revs ? An anti pollution fault could be anything such as a sensor failure and the only way to check will be a diagnostic check. Quote
coastline taxis Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 When they done the clutch it will be the gearbox oil theyve drained not the engine oil Quote
