Raskolnikov Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I am in Essex, my car is a 2003 Citroen C5 with the 2.0 HDi and I am getting the dreaded Anti-Pollution fault warning with the accompanying painfully slow acceleration, particular at the lower end of the throttle range. Had it at an approved Citroen dealer last week, had the airflow sensor replaced with a new one. This didn't fix the issue, but left me out of pocket to £350 :( Brought it back to the mechanic, I complained to the manager, who then agreed to have another look at it for free. He found some hosing that was split that he replaced, replaced some filters and did a few other things. Driving it home, the warning light went off again with the same error and the same painfully slow acceleration. At this stage, I am just about ready to give up on this car, but am willing to give it one last chance. Can someone give me a list of what the common things I should be checking out for? The Citroen dealers seem clueless about this issue. Quote
paul.h Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Welcome to the forum. When the engine management light is on, a fault code will be generated and stored on the car which will have been read by the dealer before being cleared - what was the code since this will give a good clue to the fault. Anti pollution fault messages just mean there is something wrong that will affect the exhaust emissions and the car probably will be put in limp mode which restricts the performance. Without the code the fault could be anything such as a cam shaft sensor, air flow meter, crankshaft sensor, an air leak, an exhaust lambda sensor inlet or outlet, catalyst failure, an injector problem, an egr valve problem, etc. You do not need a garage to read a fault code since this can be done if you have your own fault code reader, but being a 2003 diesel, you would need to check it works on your car since EOBD compliance was not required until 2004 for diesels. Randombloke Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Find a good independent Citroen repairer. I use Mid Kent Vehicles in New Hythe or Medway Citroen. Be worth asking around in your area. Quote
