Engine won't even turn over. No clicking. No sound except that of turning key.

Lights do not dim when key turned to attempt starting.

Checked connections to starter motor and solinoid - all ok. (New starter motor 6 months ago)

Checked battery connections, & Fuses. All ok.

With key turned full on, after a few seconds, warning lights go of except the ECU light stays on and battery light flashing as gone into economy mode.

Think maybe ignition switch faulty but don't know how to access the wiring to check it. (& possibly replace it)

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi John,

Thanks for reply.

I don't know because I haven't a tester, but I can have headlights on, wipers on, blinker on all at the same time while turning ignition key full on and none of them are affected, all working just the same.  Hope that helps.

Tried the jump lead test on 3 areas of engine to make sure of good contact and still nothing. No sound.

I can't re-check with lights etc on because it went into ECO mode originally after a while.

ok i know you said the starter was new but your going to have to test it. put a multimeter on the solinoid wire on the starter (normally got a 8mm nut on it) and get someone to turn the key and see if you get power. just a daft one have you tried bump/tow starting the car

Normally the engine management light (ECU light) will stay on until the engine starts and then once its sensors show the engine is ok, it will go off in a few seconds. So this is not indicating a fault. Only if it does not go out once the engine is running does it indicate a fault.

Did you check the maxi fuses - in the Haynes manual wiring diagrams it shows maxi fuse MF7 provides power to the starter but it also provides power to the rear brakes lights so you could see if these work when the ignition switch is on to check the fuse.
