skycamvideo Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Hi ive just bought myself an 03 plate citroen c8 2.2 hdi exclusive.I know nothing about these cars although I am a mechanic. Ive got a couple of problems maybe somebody on here can point me in the right direction.Point 1....my parking sensor doesn't appear to work....when I select reverse I get a long bleep and nothing else...mine is the model with 3 clocks and smaller display but nothing shows on that when I select reverse.ive parked really close without a beep. somebody said you can turn this off with a button near theESP button...mine doesn't have any other buttons near this...I have a towbar fitted but surely that shouldn't cause a problem...nothings attached to it.not even sure if I have forward sensors...where is the parking unit fitted ????Also all my electric windows work spot on up and down apart from drivers which will go all the way down by holding the button but comes up a bit at a time....all the rest go straight up....PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP....its a big old monster and im going to back into something soon without this parking sensor working... skycamvideo Posted August 17, 2015 Author Posted August 17, 2015 Also forgot to say...I don't get any error messages coming up on the screen....just one long bleep...I am thinking somebody unplugged the sensors but cant find the parking unit....its definitely in the back somewhere Quote
Simple Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 I had similar problem, it was a faulty sensor that needed replacement. Lexia interface identified which one. With respect to the windows, this is usually the case after BSI reset. Remove the battery coverPut the drivers window down, ensure all devices are off and all doors are closed.Remove key from ignition and wait 3 minutes.Disconnect battery for 15 secondsReconnect battery (through driver window) and wait 10 seconds, do not open doors or operate and device.Switch on side lights (through drivers window), you will hear a bong.Switch ignition on (do not start the car) and check all system's functionality.Hold the lock button on the key for 10 seconds.Remove the key, open and close the door and test the central locking system.Start the engine and complete system check.... This resetting procedure should not exceed 5 minutes Extra: before starting the engine, put ignition on, then open and close front windows pressing the buttons not less than 1 second.Start the Engine to conclude the resetting procedure. . Simple Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 The control unit for the parking sensors is behind the back light, below the end of the back window (driver side). Most likely one sensor (or more) have failed.. Quote
stevestoys Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Where do I get the correct lead for the Lexia program ? Also where can I get the software. Will it work on my laptop ? Thanks. I would like to test my sensors Quote
Johndouglas Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 I have a towbar fitted but surely that shouldn't cause a problem... I had reversing sensors on my last C5 estate and when I fitted a fixed flange towbar to it the reverse alarm sounded every time I went into reverse. I just switched them off on the dashboard. On my latest C5 which came without sensors, I've fitted an after-market kit but since I've also got a flanged towball, I've only fitted the two outside sensors. Quote

stevestoys Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Would only one sensor stop them all working ? Also wouldn't that bring up a fault on the dash ? Quote
Johndouglas Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Would only one sensor stop them all working ? Yes but it should show the fault on the display. Quote
Simple Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 In my case it used to fail occasionally then permanently (I don't recall showing a fault). However, after replacing the sensor, it has gone crazy 3 or 4 times and the BSI reset fixed it. The Lexia 3 clones are available (just google "Lexia 3 Citroen" ebay or aliexpress), the software runs on Windows 7 or XP 32bit only (you need to read the forums). If you have 64 bit (like me), you can run it on a Virtual Machine such as Oracle Virtualbox or VMware Player. Quote
paul.h Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 On the window, this is from the C5 Common Problems topic: 18. Front window anti pinch stops it closing (comes back down a few inches).Check the bottom rubber seal on the window as these start to corrode and apply pressure on to the runner. However, thanks go to Bobster for the following fix on a passenger window 2003 2.2 hdi sx hatchback.Window fault is cured.A general search on the internet found Vauxhall and Saab owners had the same fault. The cure was to put the key in the ignition, remove the fuse to the passenger door then the fuse to the driver's door console, then replace both fuses and the problem was cured. So, I put the ignition key in and turned it to accessories, then I removed fuse 4 from the passenger glove compartment and checked the passenger window switch which was dead, removed fuse 9 and checked the driver's door switches which were also dead. I then replaced both fuses, pressed the passenger window button to 'raise' and the window moved to the top and stayed there! I tried lowering and raising the passenger window using both passenger and door switches and all worked perfectly, job done! This fix also worked for Mike Lane whose window would only go up in increments and after cleaning the switch which did not help, this fix was successfully used.
