arak81 Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 My clutch pedal vibrated too much..took it to garage and mechanic said that clutch kit has to be replaced. I am worried if it it is really clutch kit or not. is there anyone who had the similar problem and already sorted it out. thank you guys in advance. Quote
arak81 Posted September 23, 2015 Author Posted September 23, 2015 oh sorry...c4 vrt plus 1.6 diesel Quote
coastline taxis Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 in 9 out of 10 cases when the pedal starts vibrating it a good sign that there a problem with the clutch. its common practice now to just replace the whole clutch unit also dont be suprised if they come back to you and say the dual mass flywheel has gone aswell as this can only be checked with the gearbox out. arak81 Posted October 1, 2015 Author Posted October 1, 2015 I am very suspicious about the clutch now and really need real advice. I took my car to couple of different garages and halford autocentre. all of them said there was nothing wrong with the car including clutch. but for me when I put my car in first or second or reverse gear i feel little bit vibration which is bit uncomfortable and when i turn the engine off it gives me little vibration as well. and the other problem i feel is when i brake it jolts a bit. so to compare this car I have test driven another same car and i felt that one nice and smoother. no vibration in the clutch, no vibration while turning off the engine and no jolt while braking. halford autocentre gave me one advisories. Nearside rear wheel bearing slight play --Guy from halfords said me there is nothing major and i shouldn't even feel anything for that bearing playlast mot had couple of advosriesoffside front and nearside front suspension has slight play in lower suspension ball joint based on all of these above what do you guys think i should do? paul.h Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 If when you slowly raise the clutch pedal to the biting point and the car then judders, I would think the clutch is in need of replacement. However, you could leave it until it gets that bad that the car becomes difficult to control when setting off. If you have a dmf then that may also be part of the problem if it is worn. How many miles has the car done ? You could also try bleeding the clutch master and slave cylinders in case old dirty fluid is making it worse. This should be done anyway every 2 years when the brake fluid is replaced. Quote
arak81 Posted October 1, 2015 Author Posted October 1, 2015 the car has done only 62500 miles. what about the other problems as i mentioned that car feels bit jolting/wobbling/spring back when braking and also vibrate when engine shuts off. can jolting problem be caused of having new brakes for all the wheels (7mm friction material) or suspension has a problem like what is said in M.O.T- offside front and nearside front suspension has slight play in lower suspension ball joint. Quote
paul.h Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Possibly the jolting when braking may be due to play/wear in the suspension but if the brakes are a bit seized and need cleaning they may not be applying smoothly to slow the car down. I think new brake pads have about 12 mm of friction material on them and not 7 mm as you have noted. When switching the engine off I would suspect suspension wear would not cause any jolting since the car is not moving. Quote
arak81 Posted October 2, 2015 Author Posted October 2, 2015 I have decided not to chance the clutch kit because I might be ended up buying DMF too and mechanic said my clutch is not that bad. Well, for the jolting of the car I have had my car checked with my local garage and he said it could be because of Wishbone Bushes worn out. So I have ordered Wishbone Bushes and also Ball joint. who knows what is causing this problem. mechanic is not too much concern about it though. I will also have my DPF topped up and Glow plug relay replaced. Quote
coastline taxis Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 ask the mechanic to check the engine mountings while hes on the job especialy the engine snubber mounting. when switching the enging off the car will be at a standstill so the wishbone bushes wont cause the jerking when swithing off. the snubber mounting will though and can cause jerking/juddering and banging when pulling off and braking Quote
arak81 Posted October 3, 2015 Author Posted October 3, 2015 Hi coastline taxis, you were right..lower middle engine mount is loose..but mechanic can not fit it as he needs haydraulic press to push the bush in..the whole parts can not be found in eurocarparts shop..so i have to leave it..just front left Track rod is shaky..and he is going to change it. coastline taxis Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 http://www.eurocarcare.net/ give these guys a ring. im sure it just bolts on and very easy to do. using a press will result in the aliminium housing snapping and thats from exprience Quote
arak81 Posted October 4, 2015 Author Posted October 4, 2015 Thank you. I will speak to them tomorrow. by the way, how can i upload images here? i took the pictures of the mounting that i need replacing. I needed to show it to you for the right name. Its actually lower centre mounting which needs driving shaft come out for replacing. actually that's the only one mounting underneath of the car that i can see easily. Quote
paul.h Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Pictures have to be loaded on to another site such as photobucket and then a link to it can be put on this forum. A look on ebay comes up with thishttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/252077784587?adgroupid=13585920426&hlpht=true&hlpv=2&rlsatarget=kwd-75951447066&adtype=pla&ff3=1&lpid=122&poi=&ul_noapp=true&limghlpsr=true&device=c&chn=ps&campaignid=207297426&crdt=0&ff12=67&ff11=ICEP3.0.0-L&ff14=122&viphx=1&ops=true&ff13=80You could always use a Citroen dealer for the part.
