Hi guys I have just bought a 2005 c8 2.0 hid and love it but have some strange issue with the engine management light.

I can drive around for weeks or months with no issue what so ever car runs flawless but the other day I took it on the motorway and was cruising at 60 mph and for no reason the light came on no misfiring or anything it was still driving flawless so when I got home I decided to connect my code reader to see what the problem. But no codes were stored so I decided to reset the light and see if it was just a fluke.

Carried on driving the car for 2 weeks with no problem until yet again I hit the motorway same thing happened but took slightly longer this time so did same thing checked for codes and yet again nothing stored and no signs of any problem so another reset.

Now the thing which is more strange is that my wife can drive on the motorway and get up to 70 mph and light dosent come on at all now two things I'm wondering does my c8 just hate me or is it because I hold the throttle in one position once the desired speed is reached as my wife tends to feather the throttle rather than hold her foot in one position anyone had this problem before and can shed some light on the issue thanks

Welcome to the forum.

You may need to try another code reader, which one are you using ? One thing that would give a code but not affect driving would be a catalyst fault shown by the outlet lambda sensor and you could look at live data on your code reader. If this sensor is switching the same as the inlet lambda sensor then the cat is at fault but if the sensor is switching at other values then the sensor may be at fault. If it is reading steady then the sensor may be ok. I would not replace any parts though without getting the fault code since it could be a waste of money.

Does the Engine light up and it would not go until you clear it, if so, it is a fault, if not, then it may be an intermittent fault/alert that you could ignore for a while.

The scanner you showed in your post would not have access to data like the XS Evolution (Lexia) would, without a proper diagnostics device or someone who has seen this problem before, it is difficult to tell.

p.s. Now that you said it, I also have suspicions that my C8 has sexual tendencies.. may be Citroens like the softer touch..
