Johnellis96 Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Hello, a few weeks ago all the lights on the dash wouldn't come on etc speedo cluster, clock, digital heating. so I unplugged the speedo cluster being at 74k miles and plugged it into another C3 that I have on the drive, and all of the lights worked fine..it wasn't until a few days ago i noticed that my car no longer said 74k it now says 105k.. and I've got my MOT due soon and I didn't want a false reading on the ticket. I've got quotes from mileage correction places but ideally a cheap fix would be better, so if you have any ideas it would be very much appreciated!! Quote
Johndouglas Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Besides being recorded on the milometer, the number of miles is also recorded in the car's ecu. When you match one against the other, the highest mileage is shown on both units. Mileage correction is your only way to correct it. Quote
paul.h Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 I would also let the insurance company know what has happened since you will have a limit on your annual miles and if you made a claim or even did not, you may find you are no longer insured since your limit will appear to have been exceeded. This may apply to both cars since on both the highest mileage will now be shown. As John has pointed out, the mileage is kept on the speedo and the ecu so both will need to be corrected at the same time since if you just did the speedo, once it is put back on the car it will go back to the higher mileage again. I have put your car details from your previous topic as your signature to save you mentioning it each time. Did you fix the fuel problem ? Quote
Johnellis96 Posted June 3, 2016 Author Posted June 3, 2016 Yes i got the fuel problem sorted. turns out that the injectors were knackered so i got that sorted but other than the issue with the mileage its all been fine thank you. Quote
coastline taxis Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 Try and get a second hand dash cluster with less than 75k on it then plug it into your ecu and your mileage will be corrected to the right one Quote
