crapday Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 I have the new shape 05 C5 diesel that I service myself but cant reset the service light. I have tried the holding in of the trip counter reset button for 10 seconds but to no avail. I see the count down but when the ignition gets switched back on, so does the service light. cheers all. seefive Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Done that but the light stays on !!! The procedure described above will eliminate the spanner on the mileometer and reset the service counter. It won't extinguish the service light. You need to page through the lcd screen till you get to "control check" then hold in the button to see what's wrong. (I'm speaking from experience of an 02 car, but I suspect this hasn't changed) Cheers Quote
techbod Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 what can I say im an old tech still trying to catch up ( not that im bothered ) but cases like this should give a clear answer so as not to build a field full of bull sh1t :D Quote
seefive Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Don't worry Techbod, I'm clueless about anything more complicated than pushing bottons! Quote
coastline taxis Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Don't worry Techbod, I'm clueless about anything more complicated than pushing bottons!Think youl find that you need to plug car in to switch the service light off. has it just come on or has it been on since you serviced it or did the service interval bring it on Quote

techbod Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 day buy day I'm learning and in the last 10 years Ive learned a lot but still learning but not to confuse the issue im well trained in the art of diagnostics :D and beyond the dealers and they employ me to sort things out Quote
crapday Posted November 4, 2008 Author Posted November 4, 2008 Hi sorry I late back with this. I noticed that my pollen filter needs changed, could this cause the service warning light to stay on. cheers Quote
techbod Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 I doubt it but it will help the AC flow  Quote
Johndouglas Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 The service light shouldn't be on. My C5 hasn't been back to the dealer since the end of it's first year. When I service it every 10000 miles, I reset the digits and the light stays off. Maybe the service light doesn't come on because the car never reaches it's 'service due' mileage. Quote
Randombloke Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 At the moment, my car has the spanner indicating for a service but no service light. The service light usually comes on when there is a problem, anything from a reporting valve saying low pressure to an ESP/ASR warning. When the problem that caused it is cleared, then the service light goes out, in most cases. There is a screen on the display that shows outstanding problems. Mine's an 02 Exclusive, so it can be found in the trip computer screen under diagnostics. Look in the owners manual, find out how to see outstanding messages then either fix the message or post it here. If you've got reporting valves it's likely that a tyre needs pumping up or a valve is no longer reporting. Seefive has posted the instructions for the B&W LCD screen cars. Quote
