coastline taxis Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Car was running fine then just stopped towed in and plugged in no faults showing up Just wont start. starting checkings things and theres no fuel comming out of tank through the fuel lines so thats why it wont start and yes theres fuel in the tank and theres power going to the 1 of the 4 wires that go into the tank Now what i need to no is 1 does this model have a pump in the tank2 Any common faults on these pumps3 should the pump in tank ( if fitted ) start to prime when ignition is turned on4 Should the power going to the tank be on permenant thanks stevep.s i still love these c5 Quote
techbod Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 1/. yes2/. every thing has problems  3/. yes for a second only4/. sort of yes but switching, pump doesn't run all the time but it always has power with ignition on, things to check are inertia fuel pressure switch ( if you have a spike in the electrics it shuts the fuel system off and you need to find the switch to reset it ) others are mobilizer/fuses/ crank-cam sensors/ coil packs/ spark at the plugs and lastly the coolant temp sensor ( this has been a topic on many sites im on and due to poor quality and it will kill the engine from starting Quote
paul.h Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 You may have this sorted by now but it reminds me of when the fuel pump on our Saab 9000 failed. It was on about 150k miles. Parked the car then when I returned it would turn over but not fire. The RAC did lots of checks, power at the pump ok and then was able to start the engine for a few seconds by squirting carb cleaner or something similar into the air intake as it was turned on the starter. The car was taken home on the back of a recovery truck (about 3pm on a new years day so a good tip given to the driver). A new pump sorted it, like the C5, it was located in the tank in a combined filter/gauge. Quote

techbod Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 when I check fuses I use a multimeter and check continuity much better resutls than the eye can see Quote
