Guest Frenchman Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 After travelling up a particular hill , I get the message "clean diesel filter as soon as possible". This only happens as I get to the brow of the hill. The message then goes off and does not come back on, until I go up the same hill again, a few days later. I also keep getting a message that the tyre pressure is insufficient, despite going and pumping up my tyres. Does the management system need resetting? Quote
Randombloke Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 I also keep getting a message that the tyre pressure is insufficient, despite going and pumping up my tyres. You need to check that the reporting valves are on all the wheels in use, and that one of them s not on the spare which has gone down. HTH. Quote
PICASSOCONVERT Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 The message about the diesel filter may mean that the particulate filter needs changing, together with the aeolus fluid (think that's how you spell it). It was explained to me that this is the bit of kit that lowers the temperature at which the diesel particulates (smoke to you and me) burn by adding some of the fluid to the fuel each time you fill up. Mine needed changing at 75,000 miles as I run to almost empty and put a tankful in each time. The garage said it could have needed doing any time after 50,000 miles. Not a cheap job - mine was £450 - and my independent Citroen man who is usually very good said it was a job he couldn't do. Quote
techbod Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 ^^ I would agree there the fuel filter hasn't got any sensors to tell you when to change it :) Quote

If it needs replacing, why does the message only appear occasionally, in particular when I go over this one hill? Quote
techbod Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 just the one hill now that has to be an oddball situation but that's when the emissions is at its peek and engine is under heavy load and the fap filter could just be getting ready to throw fault codes and needs to be cleaned out this can be done diy but dealer can do it with proper diagnostic tool and reset it Quote
paul.h Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Anything special about this hill - long, steep, location so we can all avoid it, which gear/revs needed to get up it, etc ? Also how many miles has your car done ? Quote
