johntom Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Himy red brake warning symbol and the stop sign have appeared on the dash, along with 'brake failure' in the digital display. Has anyone else had this and what was the outcome. The pads are all good alround.thanks John Quote
seasank Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Himy red brake warning symbol and the stop sign have appeared on the dash, along with 'brake failure' in the digital display. Possibly Low Fluid Level Quote
coastline taxis Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Remember years ago a fault like this and it turned out to be the handbrake switch just cant remember if it was a c5 or a pug 406. Quote
Johndouglas Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Could be the brake pad sensor wire has chafed and is shorting out. Quote
johntom Posted June 18, 2009 Author Posted June 18, 2009 Hii have checked the fluid which is to the max and the pads are all very good. The light comes on after about 1/2 mile from a cold start with the '3 bings' - the display says 'braking fault'. Looking in the book there are specific messages for brake pad wear and low fluid etc?thanks John Quote
coastline taxis Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 disconect the wire from the handbrake switch under the lever in the center console and see if it stops of Quote

ataxidriver64 Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Hi i also had this fault appear last week brake faliure warning and stop, also created a problem with the auto box it wouldnt change up, turned out to be one of the brake/side light bulbs causing it, but this only happened when the side lights were on new bulbs cured it, it could just be that as cars act in different ways when a blown filament touches the other one one if either is live. paul.h Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Do you mean - sometimes the engine does not stop when the ignition key is removed but stops only after you move your foot off the brake pedal ? Quote
