Hi

my red brake warning symbol and the stop sign have appeared on the dash, along with 'brake failure' in the digital display. Has anyone else had this and what was the outcome. The pads are all good alround.

thanks John

Possibly Low Fluid Level

Hi

i have checked the fluid which is to the max and the pads are all very good. The light comes on after about 1/2 mile from a cold start with the '3 bings' - the display says 'braking fault'. Looking in the book there are specific messages for brake pad wear and low fluid etc?

thanks John

tried disconnecting the handbrake plug still leaves the dash lights on - I have now realised that the 3 brake lights are on all the time? will look at the footbake switch?

hi ,had this today on mine and it was the brake pedal switch (on the left hand side) what happend was i was checking the pollen filter and knocked the switch out of its housing ,

first check would be to see if your brake lights are on all the time mine were and thats when i got to the brake pedal switch.

Hi i also had this fault appear last week brake faliure warning and stop, also created a problem with the auto box it wouldnt change up, turned out to be one of the brake/side light bulbs causing it, but this only happened when the side lights were on new bulbs cured it, it could just be that as cars act in different ways when a blown filament touches the other one one if either is live.

hi there !

A couple days ago I noticed the same symptoms on my 2002 2.2 HDI C5 (brake failure , STOP light , and brake light) ! I took my C5 to citroen service and they said that everything is OK , but I decided to replace pads and hyd.oil ! All symptoms are still there but now car wont stop before I remove my foot from brake pedal !

Please , I would be happy if someone can help with any advice !

Thanks in advance !

Which pads did you replace and which oil did you change?

I am sorry because my english is not native language , I am not from UK !

I have replaced all braking pads and hydraulic oil in braking system !(done by Citroen )

Brakes are perfect , everything is perfect but sometimes car does not stop even after removing key !

Car stops after I remove foot from braking pedal !

Best Regards !
