coastline taxis Posted October 18, 2009 Author Posted October 18, 2009 Hi when driving along the heater plug light (heater light doubles up as engine light) comes on and van looses power switch ignotion off and straight back on and it runs fine till you come to a hill or put anykind of load on the engine then switch it off and straight back on and its fine again and so the cycle goes on. Plugged van in and it came up with heater plug faultturbo boost pressureclutch switch so on advice boost solonoid changed, clutch switched changed and advised that heater plug is a very common fault and didnt warrant changing. Anyway took van back on road and same fault again so back we went and advised to change mass airflow meter but again same problem when back on the road. So back we went air filter removed and wires to the injectors appear to have been rubbing against the air box and lost all the insulation so they were taped up and back on the road and again the same problem. So back we went and this time the egr valve was removed and cleaned and back on the road we went only for the problem to still be there. So back we went amd this time the fuse box cover was removed and the multi plugs seperated and cleaned and back on the road we went only to find that the problem was still there. Next the software on the ecu was checked and found to be out of date so a software update was done and the van is a lot smother but the fault is still there so to recap 1x clutch switch 1x mass airflow 1x boost solonoidinjector wires insulatedegr valve cleanedfuse box multiplugs cleaned and wd squirted in themAll wires and pipes checked and ok.1 x software up dateNow been advised to change either camshaft or crankshaft sensor. Also only fault codes now coming up are for the heater plug and boost pressure (overboosting) Any ideas please as its getting beyond a joke now Quote

techbod Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 http://www.beru.com/english/produkte/glueh...agnosehilfe.php possible the glow plugs or the relay, nothing wrong with the dealers that a block hammer cant sort out lol. Quote
Randombloke Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 http://www.beru.com/english/produkte/glueh...agnosehilfe.php possible the glow plugs or the relay, nothing wrong with the dealers that a block hammer cant sort out lol. I have had a minor engine fire on a BX caused by a faulty relay. If the van will start and run with the relay removed it would be worth trying. Maybe start from warm after removing the relay. Quote
techbod Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 the relay can be a pain but if it overheats then its possible its burned the wiring and weakened it which causes the light to come on ( similar to cutting power to the injectors ) safety would be a good reason to prevent a fire so an investigation of the relay and wiring from it would be a good start.
