I'm a bit concerned that GSF sold me Carlube fully synth 5w/30 for my car . This was what their book said .I'm sure I've used 10w/40 before

Is it OK on the thin stuff -seems to be going a treat ?

I would say i's fine - especially in the winter months. Should help cold starting and probably give you a bit better consumption.

I think I saw somewhere in the French RTA (ETAI) manual for the mark 2 C5 that if you have a particulate filter in the exhaust then you should only use 5W/40 or 10w/40 and not the w/30 energy saving oils. However, it should say in your car handbook on what is allowed.

The handbook would suggest 10w/40 but I'll do an oil change before the summer (if we get one )

What I hadn't noted is that you need full synthetic with a PDF filter and I'm sure it's had semi-synth up too now

However it's going well , doesn't use oil or smoke
