Hi, Have a 2001 C5 hdi estate with starship miles! Have recently noticed a rattle coming from the front nearside. I have checked all of the obvius stuff, lower suspension bushes (changed), lower suspension ball joint (ok), anti roll bar drop links (changed), wheel bearings, anti roll bar bushes but to no avail. It seems more prominent when the wheel 'skips' over minor road imperfections rather than in corners or potholes.Is ther a bush/ bearing in the top sphere mount?

Have you replaced parts in both sides of the car ? When I had a knocking on the C3, I replaced the drop link on the side where the noise appeared to come from but it did not go until the link on the other side was replaced. I guess you have checked for loose bits/objects inside the car.

better to do the drop links in pairs,they are cheap,only £8.40 last time I bought them

Check the d bush. It holds the antiroll bar onto the chassis just follow antiroll bar back over and youl come to it

Sure it's not the column to rack joint? The splined joint can develop a very annoying rattle. I had this, thought it was drop links which I replaced to no avail. Getting the joint sorted made everything quiet again. It can be done without replacing parts.

have you checked front coil spring isnt cracked or broken and the remainder could be lying loose causing rattle!

Coil Spring? What coil spring? It's a 2001 C5 - they all have spheres........
