  1. If you have a warranty with the van you could consider taking it back to the dealer. If the radio is faulty you could not simply fit one from another car since Citroen code them to the original vehicle and it would need recoding.
  2. It could also be a faulty wiper motor or its electrical connector - do the rear wiper and the front/rear washers work ? This is from the C3 Technical section Common Problems pinned topic 27. Comms 2000 unit reset method to fix wipers/washers not working. This topic by vectratot includes a method to reset the comms 2000 unit after the wipers and washers stopped working http://www.citroen-o...ing/#entry82270
  3. Could be the pollen filter is blocked and needs replacing or at least removing and any debris vacuuming off as well as in the space where it fits. I would check for a good airflow with the air flow directed to the dash vents. Does the blower sound to be going faster when the speed setting is increased ?
  4. You have not given any details of your car but as a guess it is a C4 with a petrol engine. The message anti pollution fault just means something that could affect the exhaust emissions is faulty and the engine management light will have come on (you have not mentioned this) and a fault code will have been stored on the car. The fault code can be read using a code reader and this will give a good indication of what is wrong. Without reading the fault code you could replace lots of bits until you find the one at fault since it could be any of the engine sensors, spark plugs, a wiring fault, blocked fuel filter (I think on the C4 it sits on top of the fuel tank at one side), blocked air filter, MAF sensor or MAP sensor depending on the engine, blocked exaust if it was bad and not letting the exhaust gases out, etc. It sounds as if the garage replaced the ignition coil pack which sits on top of the spark plugs, did they also replace the spark plugs ? The economy mode will not clear until the engine is runing again and prevents such things as the radio and internal lights working to stop the battery going flat.
  5. In your car handbook it tells you how to replace the key fob battery and then how to initialise it again. So no need to go any further than your car ignition switch.
  6. It could be whatever the seagull had eaten and was in the droppings that was abrasive. If it happens again it may be better to soak it and swill it off without rubbing.
  7. The EML should not go off when the car is started until the engine has been running for a few seconds so it has checked everything is working normally. Since the EML came on originally when the engine was running there will be a fault code stored and if you can not spot anything obviously wrong you will need to have a diagnostic check to find out what is wrong.
  8. Probably when trying the switches, you may have switched on the cruise control and it was last set at 50 mph, so the car then went to 50 mph.
  9. Welcome to the forum. The blower only working on one speed is likely to be the blower speed control resistor pack that needs replacing. If a replacement fails in a short time then the blower may also need replacing. When the engine cut out did the engine management light come on - if so a fault code will be stored which will give a good indication of what is at fault. Being a pre 2004 diesel you will find low cost code readers are not likely to work on the car so a dealer Lexia or chinese copy of one will be needed. The copy ones are available from ebay for around £60 - 100. easydiagnostics also sell them. They are installed on a lap top. Without the diagnostic check it will be a hit and miss attempt to find out what is wrong but you could look under the bonnet for anything obvious and at the service history and see when the fuel filter was last changed and make sure there is fuel in the tank. Other possibilities could include a sensor fault such as the crankshaft sensor, or a fuel pump fault (see if the car will run using something such as easy start), etc. If you are in the RAC/AA/etc you could call them out and see if they can get the car going. If you are in contact with the previous owner you could ask them if there were any problems.
  10. Welcome to the forum and thankyou for the advice.
  11. Welcome to the forum. In Citroen's workshop manual it has the warning CAUTION : Do not loosen the TORX screw ( 13) Risk of dropping the selector control inside the gearbox So it looks as if the gearbox will need taking apart to fix it. The correct filler plug has a square hole in it and is also on top of the gearbox. This manual does not have any info on repairing/dismantling the gearbox so I am unable to give any more help.
  12. If the battery is flat then it is likely most of the electrics will not work. It could be the battery, the alternator or a wiring problem that has caused the battery to go flat.
  13. For a manual the best thing would be to get the Citroen service box from such as ebay. Before removing the old compressor the air con will need the refrigerant removing unless it has leaked out. Legally this would need to be done at an air con place/garage so you would need to pay for this. Then once the compressor has been replaced you will need to go back for it pressure testing/drying/refilling. You might also consider replacing the air con drier.
  14. Welcome to the forum. You have not given any details of your car but you could have a good look above the puddle at the car and see if there is an obvious leaking pipe.
  15. Welcome to the forum and thanks for the post. I have never tried the split cv boots, perhaps you may give an update in the future on how well it is lasting.
  16. Welcome to the forum. You have probably done this job by now but I have found removing the rear lamps on other Citroens have required a bit of effort/struggle once the retaining nuts are removed.
  17. Does the radio work when the engine is running, just thinking that with the engine off, the car will go into ecomode after maybe 15 minutes (depending on how well charged the battery is) and this will turn off the radio and other things to prevent the battery going flat.
  18. You could explore the Citroen parts daigrams to see if you can find the latest part no. This can be done as a free service on the service.citroen site if you register as another professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club. I found the original part no. under electrical and headlights for the mark 1 C5 but could not find one for the mark 2 C5. http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres You can use your VIN (VIS) top left to find your car. To show a photo on the forum it first needs to be on another site and then a link put in the post.
  19. The Citroen handbook for the car does not give much maintenance info. Sometimes people leave them in a drawer under one of the front seats. A Haynes manual is worth getting for the maintenance/servicing work and from ebay you can get the Citroen service box manual on 3 dvds to put on your pc. A low cost code reader is unlikely to work on your car being a diesel pre 2004 so you could consider a Chinese Lexia copy to use on a lap top, again from ebay or easydiagnostics.
  20. There is a bit of info here on removing the steering wheel http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/22328-plasticparts-at-the-steering-wheel-is-scratched-where-can-i-get-new-one/
  21. A free fix, I bet you were pleased to sort it out.
  22. Maybe have a look for water in the ecu connectors - have a look at this http://www.peugeotlogic.com/workshop/wshtml/engmanag/throttle/throttle2.htm
  23. This is coastline's topic on how to unseize the handbrake http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/15045-seized-caliper-fix/
  24. It may be Citroen part 659100 and from citroencarparts.net is £55.83 but you should check this using your VIN. Have you checked if the auto lights just needs switching on which is something like turn on the ignition and hold in the button on the end of the lighting stalk.
  25. If all you ever need to do is disconnect the battery I have found the following from the C5 technical section Common Problems pinned topic works 16. Odd electrical problems caused by wrong battery disconnection procedure. If you need to disconnect the battery and not do a BSI reset procedure, I have found the following has not given me any problems on a 2004 and 2007 C5 and a 2003 C3: - remove the ignition key from the car - open the bonnet - wait a few minutes for the BSI to shut down - disconnect the battery negative terminal When reconnecting - ignition key out of the car - reconnect the battery - wait a few minutes - insert the key in the ignition and wait a minute - turn the key to the first position and wait a minute - turn the key so the dash lights come on and wait a minute - start the engine - take the windows down and up to reset the anti pinch - reset the clock (and radio on the C3).
