  1. Welcome to the forum. What year is your car ? Where abouts on the dash is this number ? Depending on your answer, possibilities could be the miles to the next service, or maybe the miles since the trip counter was reset. If miles to the next service, this will reduce each day on starting by 50 if close to the 2 year frequency of servicing (frequency depending on year/model of car) or by the miles done.
  2. The remote also does the alarm as well as the locks and waking up the car (noticed by the suspension). Personally I would go to Citroen and get the right parts and it is also possible it may not be the remote that is faulty. The receiver for the remote is part of the comms 2000 switch unit under the steering wheel, this then communicates with the bsi which then works the locks and other things associated with the locking/remote. Some of the connections are multi plexed and not single wires so even if you could connect in some where it may not be easy. If not already tried, you could have a go at resynchronising the remote: 4.3. Matching with the vehicleThe use of the remote control necessitates a matching with the vehicle. The coded message sent to the receiver by each remote control is composed of the following codes :A fixed code linked to the keyA rolling code matched with the vehicle’s receiverA code corresponding to the action to be performedA code corresponding to the condition of charge of the batteries4.4. Resynchronisation of the remote controlThe rolling code of the remote control is modified each time the remote control is used.A small offset between the rolling code expected by the receiver and that transmitted by the remote control is tolerated (case of use of the remote control outside the range of the receiver). In the event of this tolerance being exceeded it is necessary to resynchronise the remote control. The tolerance is of 255 offsets. To resynchronise the remote control, this procedure has to be followed:- 1 Switch on the ignition using the key whose remote control is to be resynchronised- 2 Press one of the transmitter buttons within 10 seconds of the appearance of ignition+N.B. : For a vehicle equipped with the under-inflation function the vehicle should remain at zero speed
  3. Welcome to the forum. The reversing sensors are only switched on when the gear lever is in the reverse position so when you put the gears in neutral you are switching off the sensors and the screen display will also switch off. This is the same with aftermarket sensors which are usually tied in to a reversing light wire. What you need to do is dip the clutch pedal instead of using neutral, this will also keep the reversing lights on to warn others you are reversing and if dark will light up the back so you can see. If you have found this out by hitting something I hope it was not too expensive to fix.
  4. This is Citroen's procedure for checking the level, it uses a diagnostic tool to depressurise/lower the suspension so possibly the height of the car once lowered may be different (possibly on the bump stops) compared to lowering using the car's height button and hence the fluid level may be a bit different. For those of us without diagnostic equipment do as John has said. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. The level of LDS fluid should be between the minimum mark "a" (first ridge from the bottom in the filler neck strainer) and the maximum mark "b" (second ridge in the filler neck). If necessary add LDS fluid up to the maximum level "b". CAUTION : A container of LDS fluid that has been opened should be resealed and kept in a clean place. A container of LDS fluid should be used up within two weeks of being opened. After this, any LDS fluid that has not been used must be disposed of.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the C5 Technical section there is a pinned topic of Common Problems that is worth looking at, particularly if you have a warranty/the car is from a dealer so any problems can be sorted without cost to yourself. The steering rack fluid leak seems to be quite common.
  5. Welcome to the forum. If you are keeping the car I would not sell the part in case it fails on your car and then unless you bought a used one, you would be faced with the £135 cost again. The date on the one in the picture appears to be 21st October 2007 so it looks as if this may be the original one off the car or you have been sold old stock.
  6. Is it the pedal that sticks down and does not come back up when taking your foot off it or have I misread your first post ?
  7. If you dropped the speed a bit to 65 to 70 mph you may have got 55 to 60 mpg and saved about £1.20.
  8. The window switch may need its contacts cleaning or there could be a break in the wiring between the door and body. Also see if there is a fuse listed in the handbook. I had the switch problem on a Saab and used a temporary 12 volt supply to the switch connector that went to the driver's window until I cleaned it out. This also proved the motor and wiring without having to remove the door card. I also did this as a one off on a Picasso after a maxi fuse failed and cut all power to the car.

    Obd Meter

Could be your car is 2002 and OBD was not required on diesels until 2004 so you would need to use a Citroen specific reader.
  10. I would get a copy of the Haynes manual for your car, they are about £15 but may be in your local library. This gives a bit more info. Your photo shows the fuel filter and inside should be a filter element that lifts out. Before starting take a photo (or use the one already done) to note where the fuel lines connect so they do not get mixed up. They disconnect by pushing in the coloured clips. Also disconnect the heater electrical connector from the top. Your filter is the type with the locking ring which needs to be undone (the 3 pipe version mentioned by coastline) and a google search on fuel filter locking ring tools comes up with various tools that will help undo it without causing damage. Then lift off the filter lid and remove any seals which should be renewed. Lift out the element and clean out the housing. Once refitted, check if you have a hand primer pump and if so use it to fill the filter with fuel, if not it may take a bit before the engine runs when starting. The fuel filter may not be the cause of your problem but it should be changed every 3 years or 37500 miles if sooner according to the Haynes manual. Not starting or cutting out when hot could be something such as the crankshaft sensor failing. These can start to give problems once hot but then work ok once cooled down but will get worse. It could be other things such as a faulty temperature sensor or air flow meter or fuel pressure switch and you may end up needing a diagnostic check to find out what is wrong, otherwise you could start to replace lots of parts and waste a lot of money before finding the faulty one. If the car has not been well maintained, something else that should be done every year is replacing the cabin pollen filter. If not there is a risk the ignition switch could fail and I vaguely remember this being a common fault on the Picasso - so something else to check against your starting problems.
  11. Neil54 has written a new topic on how the oil was topped up, through the reversing light switch hole on top of the gearbox, adding the amount drained plus a bit more http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/22793-20l-hdi-gearbox-oil/?do=findComment&comment=84524

    Lhd Headlamps

The C5 2004 to 2008 part nos are different for LHD the left light is 620845 and the right is 620645 and for the 2008 on C5 they are also different being 6208W0 and 6206W0 or 6208P9 and 6206P9.
  13. Welcome to the forum. You may need to use a Citroen specific code reader since as you point out P1598 does not appear anywhere. However, since the throttle, presumably you mean accelerator pedal, is sticking down then may be the internals are broken and it needs replacing - or see if there are any carpets or mats that it catches on (remove them and see if the fault goes). The pedal may be part no. 1601N6 (check using your VIN) and is £90.65 from citroencarparts.net. It is held by a bolt and 2 nuts plus an electrical connector so would only take a few minutes to replace.
  14. The link must have changed. Try this http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/22652-c5-v6-problems-and-fixes-exhaust-heater-flap-motor-air-bag-ecu/
  15. You must have the DV4TD or DV4TED engine and not the DV4C which has a dpf. A quick look at the car will confirm the lack of a dpf: If you look at the inside of the exhaust tail pipe, if it is covered in soot your car probably does not have a dpf since all the cars we've had with a dpf were clean metal. If you look at the exhaust down pipe if there is a dpf it will be fitted next to the catalyst and have pressure sensor pipes connected to it. Citroen's procedures say to remove the air box to allow access to the egr valve. Then remove the egr pipe and then the valve. A new metal valve gasket is needed and also the collar holding the pipe to the valve and an O-ring seal where the pipe joins the other end. The valve bolts are 20 Nm and the pipe bolts 5 Nm. To remove the air filter box, remove the filter cover, the filter, 2 bolts holding the driver's side (RHD) engine mounting to the wing, pull the engine towards the front, remove the bolt and then air pressure sensor from the box, unplug the air flow meter connector, remove the 2 bolts holding the box to the engine and the collar holding it to the turbo, the box should now be free to remove and a sensor at the back will need disconnecting. The egr valve may be part no. 1618PF (check this using your VIN) and if it does not clean up or there is not a fault with the wiring or electrical connector, a new one from Citroen is about £170 from citroencarparts.net, £153.99 at eurocarparts. Somebody else may have experience of blanking plates and comment if you want to try one.
  16. The fuel filter is at the front of the engine, you may need to remove the engine cover to see it.

    Lhd Headlamps

I had tried a search just using the parts nos. mentioned and nothing came up so it is likely lights from another model will not fit and then if you had to buy new ones for a different model they are probably as expensive. I also looked at the cost of halogen lights and they were about half the cost but then wiring and other mods may be needed. To check if the lights from another car will fit you can look at the parts diagrams which is a free service if you register on the service.citroen site as another professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club. http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres
  18. You can look at the sales brochures to see what the latest models include compared to the older ones. These can be found on Citroen's main site and a copy saved but the latest C5 one is dated September 2014 and only has euro 5 engines listed. You can also look at the handbooks on the service.citroen site for all the 2008 on models of C5. You may find the newer models have less standard features than previously.
  19. From a search: P1162 may relate to the egr valve not working so it may need cleaning or replacing but first check any actuator hoses to it in case there is a split or damage or if electrically operated check the connector and wiring. This is likely to be the fault that brought up the anti pollution message (which just means there is a fault that could affect the exhaust emissions and does not necessarily refer to a dpf unless there was a fault with it) and the engine management light. P1351 may relate to the glow plugs but if your car is starting ok you can probably leave this for now. What makes you think your car does not have a dpf ? According to a sales brochure for 2010 all the C3 diesels have a dpf system.
  20. A good looking car, you may want to alter the photo though to cover the number plate to help avoid cloning.
  21. Welcome back, have a look at the C5 technical section pinned Common Problems topic for a few things to look out for on your car, particularly the leaking steering rack one.
  22. Reverse switches are on top of the gearbox, the one on the differential may be a speedometer drive and best left alone. There is also a MLUC 5 speed gearbox on the Relay 2 model and that is filled as the MLGU box in 1. above - ie through the top vent (it looks as if there is a plug in it near the reversing switch).

    Lhd Headlamps

Welcome to the forum. If just visiting abroad from the UK you are probably ok not using beam deflectors or replacing the lights but if you are going to live abroad then you may need to replace the lights. There are different parts numbers for LHD and RHD lights so there must be a difference. For LHD the left light is 6208N3 and the right one 6206N3, for RHD the left is 6208N4 and the right is 6206N4. For just visiting, I vaguely remember reading on here that a note from Citroen helps to demonstrate that beam deflectors are not needed if stopped by the police. From citroencarparts.net, new front lights are £1120 each so good used ones would be the best option - or sell the car and get one from abroad, having to spend around £2500 on your car may not be worth it. You also need to check if you have 1 or 2 rear fog lights - if only one these may also need changing and again there are different part numbers for LHD and RHD cars and similarly for the rear wiring harness but you may be able to alter what is already there. The rear fog lights are £93 each - LHD part nos. left 6350EN and right 6340F7.
  24. The filling and level plugs differ for the different model of gearbox. 1. MLGU 5 speed manual gearbox On the top is a vent hole/neck for filling. Do not use the level plug on the side of the differential to fill or top up due to the new engine angle. 2. BVM ML5T since production 15580263 Use the filling and level plug on the side of the differential. 3. BVM ME Fill through the reversing lamp switch hole on the top, check the level using the level dipstick on the differential. 4. BVM MG5T This might have a filling and level dipstick or a filling and level plug with a square hole for a key (may be on the differential but hard to tell from the parts picture).
  25. You may not need to remove the plastic strips, it looks as though not all roof bars fit under the strips. A search showed Micks garage roof bars on a video that do not look as if the strips are removed and these Thule instructions do not look like it either https://roofracks.co.uk/pdf-reader/web/viewer.html?file=https://roofracks.co.uk/_pdf/1313.pdf If you do prise up the strips they may end up needing replacing, on our 2003 C3 I had to replace them when the underneath plastic channel griping the roof seam had weakened and they would not stay down at the ends. If you want to fit the original fit sliding roof bars, the plastic strips are not used and instead a slide is screwed to the roof. The roof panel part number is only different if a gps aerial is installed so the screw holes will already be there. The parts diagrams also show the plastic strips are held on by hog rings part no. 832127 (clips) which are screwed to the roof, 8 on each side - so it looks as if a bit of force will pull off the plastic strips. The roof panel parts can be seen under Bodywork, Roof and Headlining Assembly, Roof Panel. If you have not registered to see the parts diagrams you can do this as a free service on the service.citroen site, register as an other professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres Use you VIN (VIS) in the top left to find your car.
