The fluid level is not measured, just calculated on the no. of diesel tank fills and mileage. So after so many miles/fill ups it thinks the level is low. Topping up the level will not stop the low level messages until the diagnostic using a Lexia to tell the car the fluid has been topped up.

Welcome to the forum. Most cars with pad wear indicators have them on the front and not on the back so I would have a look at these if not already done. I do not know but if it is the rear and the pads do not have wear indicators there may be something in the handbrake electrics that gives the warning. Were the rear pads replaced by a Citroen dealer and the handbrake calibrated again using diagnostic equipment once the pads were replaced ? Seal failure on the steering rack is a common problem on the 2008 on C5. Have a look at the C5 Technical section pinned topic on common problems for other things.

Overheating But Temp Gauge Says Otherwise?

Maybe the temp sensor is faulty (reading low) so that it is not starting the engine fan when it gets too hot. On our Citroens the fan comes on at 96°C and then off at 94°C. A new sensor will be about £20-30 and probably on the gearbox end of the cylinder head. A good indication will be if the thermostat opens and hot water goes to the radiator top hose whilst the gauge still shows cold - probably opens about 90°C but will be stamped on the thermostat. If it is not actaully getting hot then maybe the head gasket has failed. -
Welcome to the forum. The only way to find out what is wrong is to use a code reader to read the fault code which will give a good indication of the fault. Any other way apart from an obvious bit not being connected or is damaged (look under the bonnet) is to replace lots of parts in the hope of finding the faulty one before too much money has been spent.

Other members have reported replacing faulty sensors so they can fail and for the cost of one is worth doing. Having not removed a mirror I can not comment on the risk of breaking it but would think if you are having to use a lot of force it could break. Sometimes aftermarket parts are not as good as dealer supplied ones so if you change it and it does not work then you will still not be sure if it was the sensor. Maybe the seller will provide a guarantee/assurance it will work. If you do replace it, make sure it works before getting it all back together.

I think different car manufacturers have different definitions for many fault codes so it usually pays to use the manufacturers diagnostic equipment or go to the dealer. Maybe you might be best to do this since you could end up replacing parts that are not faulty until you find the right one. If unplugging the MAF sensor makes no difference to the running then that could indicate a fault with it or its connector or wiring as it will put it in limp mode but you will probably get a fault code by doing this - you could also try cleaning it with something like carb cleaner. You could also check the air filter is clean and maybe the fuel filter has recently been replaced.

Welcome to the forum. You could check with a meter for a 12 volt supply at the fuses and then at the parts that are not working. Also check the earth wires at the parts are giving a good connection to earth using the resistance setting on the meter. Does the battery charge light go off with the engine running ? You can also check the battery voltage with the engine off and then running to see if it is being charged - should be about 12.5 volts and then 14.4 volts.

In the Haynes manual for the 2001 to 2008 C5, the mirror glass can be removed (for your C5 adjust the mirror to point the glass down to see the kerb and lever at the top to get the glass out - there may be a clip to undo to release it from the motor) and then some clips are seen to undo to release the mirror top shell. The mirror motor is removed by undoing 3 torx bolts once the glass has been removed. With the motor and/or the top shell removed you may be able to remove the temp sensor.

The temp sensor part no. seems to be 6345F9 and from citroencarparts.net is £25.44 so will be about this from another Citroen dealer. You should check this no. using your VIN when you order the part. I do not know, but possibly the sensor can be replaced by removing the covers from the mirror with it still fastened to the door - if so it would not be much work. The time to do the job seems to be listed as about half an hour so even if you paid, about £70 would cover the replacement inc the part - so less than a diagnostic. You can understand the dealer wanting to do the diagnostic check first, they could be worried about the risk of replacing the part and that was not the fault. £99 is a lot for a diagnostic check - where are you located ?

On here from the Petrol Diesel and LPG Injection section fault code lists: P1112 Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor Circuit Intermittent Low Voltage P1138 Lack Of HO2S12 Switch - Sensor Indicates Rich P1537 Intake Manifold Runner Control (Bank 1) Stuck Open P0110 IAT Circuit Malfunction P0115 Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Malfunction P0571 Cruise Control/Brake Switch A Circuit Malfunction So possibly the MAF sensor is faulty since this usually contains the inlet air temperature sensor (IAT). I have read on here that if you do not replace it with a genuine part, sometimes pattern ones do not have the IAT and will continue to give problems. P1138 showing a rich mixture at the lambda sensor could be a result of a faulty MAF giving the wrong mixture. I do not know what the P1537 means, you could try a search on this. The P0115 could mean the coolant temp sensor or its wiring or its electrical connector are faulty. This is often located at the gearbox end of the cylinder head. P0571 - have you tried to use the cruise control and it has not worked ? If so, this could mean the brake pedal switch that goes to the cruise control is faulty. You may find there are 2 switches on the brake pedal lever and 1 of these is for the cruise control.

The bracket in the Haynes photo is about 2 cm square with a hole in it, so if it is plastic then it would be a poor design. You could try sticking the scuttle to the windscreen using black silicone sealant so it does not show.

Welcome to the forum. There is a Haynes manual for the C4 which is worth getting. In it to remove the cigar lighter socket near the handbrake, it first says to remove the centre console and then the surround with the socket in so it can then be removed. Rather than a problem with the socket, you could have a problem with the device you are plugging in to it so I would check this first.

If you look at the parts diagrams for the C5 (X7) with the 3.0hdi, they show 2 maf sensors which may have an air temp sensor in for the inlet air temp (AIT), an air temp sensor at the back of the engine (probably on the inlet ducting) part no. 1920JF (£26.29 from citroencarparts.net), and a temp sensor at the timing belt or chain end of the cylinder head part no. 1338E5 (£23.46). These all input to the engine management system. So it makes you wonder about the dealer's comments.

I do not know if the fault code reader being used is a Citroen specific one (Lexia) and if not it could be possible the fault code definitions are not correct. In this case it may be better to use a Citroen dealer to read the fault codes. If the codes are the P1435, etc ones, on here in the Petrol, Diesel and LPG Injection section that gives P1435 A/C Refrigerant Temperature Circuit Range/Performance P1446 Evaporative Vac Solenoid Circuit Malfunction P1448 ELC System 2 Fault P1425 EGI Glow Plug Secondary Failure P1442 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected -
Citroen C5 Lexia Fault Code P1447

P0722, output speed sensor no signal could possibly be a speed sensor on the gearbox - does your car have an automatic gearbox ? Could also be the camshaft sensor or the crankshaft sensor since these are also sometimes called speed sensors. However, the crankshaft sensor is likely to stop the engine if it fails or prevent it starting and the camshaft sensor uses different fault codes. The HP20 auto box has an input speed sensor and an output speed sensor as well as the engine speed sensor. P0115 Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Malfunction - using your Lexia see what temperature the engine coolant is giving - it should be the outside temperature of around 12°C before the engine has been started and then go to about 95°C once the engine has warmed up. If not then possibly the temperature sensor on the end of the cylinder head needs replacing or the wiring or wiring connector is faulty. -

Which size engine is your car ? It is worth resetting the trip computer when trying different driving styles/roads so it is not affected too much by the previous trips since the last reset. This is done by holding in the button on the end of the wiper stalk. I find the mpg shown is not too far out compared to filling the fuel tank, driving and then refilling. Doing 65 mph instead of 70 mph will probably give another 10% mpg and probably about 50 mpg or more.

Welcome to the forum. You could check the battery to see if it is not fully charged since eco mode should not come on for a lot longer than 3 minutes. The Haynes manual has some wiring diagrams and the lock switch and hazard switch share the same earth point E15 which is supposed to be located on the right hand side of the handbrake lever. So I would check this first or try a temporary earth to the switches. The tailgate lock switch also uses this earth. The green/yellow wire is likely to be the earth one. -

Welcome to the forum. The parts diagrams suggest the siren may be on or inside the front left (UK passenger side) wing, fastened to a bracket.

Citroen wires usually have a number on them which continues back to the wherever the wire starts and is more reliable than trying to follow colours. You will need a magnifying glass to read it.

If it is the seal on the body and not on the door, it seems to be Citroen part no. 9025E5. You could try a search using this and also have a look at citroencarparts.net for a dealer price.
