  1. What engine does the car have ? I thought the small diameter pipe from the additive tank should go to the fuel tank but there would be small diameter pipes from either end of the dpf going to a differential pressure sensor located somewhere in the engine bay to detect when the dpf was blocking up. You can also look at the Citroen parts diagrams using your VIN (VIS) to see if it should have a DPF. You can do this as a free service if you register on the service.citroen site as an other professional non emergency services and as a member of the Citroen Owners Club. Once on the site then put your VIN top left to find your car and then look under Characteristics in the left column to see what your car had when built.   3. I have never had an auto gearbox so I am not sure what noises they make, was the whine there before you changed the oil ? On my manual gearboxes a whine that varied with speed has been due to bearing wear but if not bad could be due to the gears being noisy rather than wear. If you have the hydractive suspension then there is this warning in the procedures to possibly avoid the lds tank splitting: CAUTION : If raising the vehicle on a lift, wheels hanging, remove the cap of the LDS fluid reservoir. Refit the cap of the LDS fluid reservoir, once you have lowered the vehicle (According to equipment). This is part of the oil change procedure from the Citroen service box for the AM6 AUTO GBOX NORM EURO5 OR Auto gearbox AM6 4. Check the oil level Prior conditions : Vehicle level Check that the gearbox is not in downgrade mode Remove the filler plug (3) Add 0,5 additional litres of oil in the gearbox Apply the brakes firmly and move the lever through the various selector positions Gear lever in position "P" Engine running at idle Oil temperature 60°C (+ 8 ; - 2 °C) (measuring of parameters using a diagnostic tool) Remove the oil level plug (2). 4.1. Stream of oil then reducing to a sequence of drips Refit the oil level plug (2). 4.2. Sequence of drips or nothing Refit the oil level plug (2). Stop the engine. Add 0,5 additional litres of oil in the gearbox. Repeat the top-up procedure. N.B. : The level of oil is correct when the stream of oil becomes drop by drop. Refit the oil level plug (2) (equipped with a new seal). 4.3. Check the oil level (continued) Refit : The filler cap (3) (equipped with a new seal) The air filter box The protective panel under the engine Too high a fluid level can cause : Overheating of the fluid Fluid leaks Too low a level will lead to destruction of the gearbox.
  4. I would plug the code reader in again and look at the live data to check the lambda sensor and inlet temp sensor before thinking of replacing them. The inlet lambda sensor should be constantly switching around 1.0 if it is ok and the outlet one should be constant if the cat is working but follow the inlet one if the cat needs replacing. The cat should not really affect performance apart from possibly putting the car in limp mode. You can also check the inlet air temp in the live data, should be about the outside temp of around 15°C before starting the engine and then may warm up a bit to around 30°C. The inlet air temp sensor looks to be part of the throttle body.
  5. Have you tried using a Citroen dealer to see what is wrong ? I forgot to ask, how many miles has the car done ? Checking live data was meant to be looking at the values given by all the sensors to see if they are giving normal values. Unless the remapping had a program that prevented fault codes being given or gave wide margins for the sensor values, then it is unlikely it would stop fault codes - however, you could try unplugging something that should give a fault code/eml on as a test, such as unplugging the MAF. If you can get another car for less than the likely cost of getting yours fixed then it is worth considering. If it was the dmf/clutch then that could be around £700, putting the dpf back if you wanted to could be several £100 - but without knowing what is wrong it is a difficult decision.
  6. You need to use a code reader to find out what the fault is since it could be a long list of many things, not just the dpf being blocked. Since your car is a pre 2004 diesel you may find most low cost code readers will not work on your car, so if buying one you should check first if it will work. Unblock diesel filter could also refer to the fuel filter as well as the dpf. You can check your service history to see when the fuel filter was last replaced and to see when dpf eolys fluid was last topped up since it could be running out. Also check if it is being dosed by seeing if the diesel filler cap has the magnets in it. Also see when the dpf was last replaced or at least cleaned since it may be due.
  7. You need to check with the dealer using your VIN for the correct oil. It has this in the Citroen service box procedures: CAUTION : The oil type "AW-1" in AT6 and AM6 gearboxes with engine version Euro 5 is specific and cannot be replaced with oil type JWS 3309.Dry gearbox oil capacity : 7 litres (approx.).Type of oil (Red) :EURO 5 engine : AW-1 oilEURO 4 engine : JWS 3309 ESSO oilVolume of oil remaining after draining : 4 litres (approx.).Quantity of oil to be replaced : 3 litres (approx.).Refit the filler plug (3) (equipped with a new seal).Initialise the used oil counter (follow the diagnostic tool procedure).
  8. Possibly the service has not been updated on the website. The service items are listed in the Warranty/Maintenance guide with the service stamps unless your car is about 2 years old where the details are no longer listed. However, the guide lists a few things (systematic operation which is usually the oil/filter change) but if you register on the service.citroen site and use your VIN you can get a list of the additional service items. To register this can be done as an other professional non emergency services and as a member of the Citroen Owners Club http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres you may need to select your language first and then register top left.
  9. On one of the C5 sections there is a pinned topic of members able to help with diagnostics. There may also be something similar on the French car forum. If you have replaced the valve block as well as the ecu then the brakes will need bleeding which needs the diagnostic to work the valves so you might be in for an hour or so of work. If it is more than just resetting a fault code, you would need to check whoever does the work has liability insurance in case there is a problem with the brakes afterwards when driving, if they do not have this then you may be better using a dealer.

  11. Welcome to the forum. The speed controller may be Citroen part 6441AA but this should be checked using your VIN. To replace it is just under half an hour, similar if the blower needed replacing so they are not big jobs. This is from the Citroen service box workshop procedure but before starting I would have a look at the heater unit from the left footwell to see if you can see the blower and its controller: To replace the controller first you should disconnect the battery but this may not be necessary since most procedures say this. Then remove the square cowl under the steering column - this might only be for left hand drive cars. Then unclip and move to one side the tyre pressure monitoring ecu. Remove 2 bolts and a bracket - not sure what this is but needs removing to get to the blower left hand side where the controller is fastened. Disconnect the controller connector, unlock it, slide it up and back and then pivot it to towards the centre of the car to remove it. To remove the blower also needs an air duct removing, a flap motor and then the blower can be twisted and removed. The procedures say to remove the accelerator pedal as well but this must be for left hand drive cars.
  12. The fault could be all sorts of things, you need to do a diagnostic to check it. I had a message on 3 separate occasions on our C5 over a few years when accelerating on a motorway, twice towing a caravan and which flashed up a message of speed control faulty. A code reader appeared to show a turbo fault as boost pressure less than expected. I did a few checks but found nothing and did not want to start replacing lots of bits. Anyway it has not occurred for a couple of years. Our car is a manual so any speed faults would not affect the gearbox, but in your case could.
  13. The additive level is not measured but is calculated on the number of diesel tank fills. So when the additive is topped up the ecu needs a diagnostic to tell the car it has been topped to reset the level. If it is not reset, then additive will still be dosed until it runs out but the message will continue. You can still top up the additive without doing a reset but the message will not go which could have happened if the additive tank still has half a litre.

  15. Welcome to the forum. If you need a workshop manual the Citroen service box is worth getting and comes on 3 dvds to put on your computer and includes parts and wiring diagrams. It can be obtained through ebay. Timing belt failure is a common thing on the C8 due to rain getting on to it and a part is available to prevent this.
  16. When you have any warranty work done you do not get any receipts but it will be recorded by Citroen somewhere. Citroen also keep the parts. On our latest C4 we had a recall done which involves checking the bonnet hook for corrosion where it joins the bonnet - if it is ok some grease filled stickers are put around it, if not then the bonnet gets replaced. On our car it just needed the stickers - looks a bit of a bodge but saves Citroen a lot of money but it is to prevent the hook coming off and the bonnet flying open. Again we did not get any receipts. To check if your car needs any recalls you can register on MyCitroen https://mycitroen-uk.citroen.com/MyCitroen/ as well as asking your dealer.
  17. If you had a dpf then maybe there would not be the smoke. As MikeLane has suggested, a fueling problem is a possibility - such as an air leak, injector problem, temperature sensor fault so giving wrong mixture, thermostat fault, a fault with the cam belt - has it been changed yet, should be done at 10 years if it has not reached the recommended mileage. Does the engine management light come on for a few seconds when starting the engine to show its lamp is working ?

  19. Probably the drains at each wing end of the bulkhead are full of leaves or other debris. If you use a torch you may be able to see it if you look through the mesh section at the ends of the plastic panel below the windscreen. On our C3 I vac out these areas to remove the leaves that somehow get in there by using a smallish diameter hose on the end of the vacuum cleaner.

  21. On the C4 technical section there is a pinned common problems topic that is worth a look but our C4s have not given us any real problems. The 2011 C4 needed the bonnect replacing due to a paint problem. At the front edge next to the V, the paint started to bubble. The bonnets are aluminium and there was a problem with many of them to do with the painting process, so Citroen have replaced a lot of them at their cost.
  22. That is an extract from the handbook and reads as if you can manually pull the handbrake on harder that it does electrically (exclusive models only have the electric handbrake).
  23. Additional to normal servicing, greasing the steering rack steering column shaft might prevent it rusting and causing the rack seal leaking. The front wiper motors might benefit from putting sealant around the controllers on them to prevent water ingress and the circuit boards failing. I would not go over the recommended service interval for the timing belt replacement - 10 years or a given mileage if sooner (the handbook gives the mileage but could be 140k miles).

  25. Welcome to the forum. Your car will have an additive tank and not a pouch. To check which additive used, the tank filling pipe has a coloured part on the connection - green is for eolys 176 or Infineum F7995, blue for eolys powerflex and white or no colour is eolys DPX 42. If you have eolys 176 you can use 176 (but it may not be available any more) or infineum F7995. If you have infineum you should use infineum. Powerflex can not mix with the others. As well as colour on the filling pipe you need to use the car RPO number which is on the sticker with the tyre pressures on a door pillar (as well as in the book with the service stamps on the inside cover). The rpo number is a code for the manufacturing date. - Vehicles up to rpo 9492 should have DPX 42, - rpo 9492 to 12110 or 12166 should be eolys 176 - but for the C5 (X7) from rpo 12125 it should be infineum F7995. To fill the additive tank it is a case of connecting the refill bottle to the filling pipe on the tank with a hose that screws on the bottle and letting it run in. A full tank holds about 3 litres which ought to do about 80k miles. However, the fluid level is done by a calculation on the number of diesel tank fills so the car will need a diagnostic to tell it the fluid has been topped up - you will need to use a garage that has the correct diagnostic tool to do this so you may end up using a Citroen dealer. If you do not do the diagnostic the low level message will not go, but the fluid will still be dosed to the fuel tank so the dpf should not block up.
