ehhhhhhhh..... :D Its not your car.... :o .... So why join a forum for C4's then...???? I dont think i'd bother if the car weren't mine.....? .. Not avvin a go Roadster...Just curious.... :D .. Sorry perhaps I wasn't clear. The car is effectively mine, just not owned by me as it is a company car. If the car were owned by me I would feel that I would have more leverage to complain to the dealers when things are not satisfactory.
Presumably you had a 1.6 diesel to get that sort of fuel economy. Mine has had an intermittent fault since having the car which the courtesy car I had also suffered from. Try and pull away quickly, all is well, until suddenly you lose power and then it picks up again. Bearing in mind this has happened on both the 54plate C4 1.6hdis I have driven I presume it is an inherent defect. Not too bad if pulling away from the lights but rather problematic on roundabouts.
Tried 4 now, 2 in London and 2 in Essex, all the same incredibly poor service. If it was my own car I might have more leverage and would have rejected the car by now.
I wouldn't say mine is quiet, it used to be until a few weeks ago and now it sounds like a tractor and the idle is rough from cold. Can't be bothered to take it to the dealers again as it has just been in for the 6th time to get the wheels balanced (which they have still failed to do) and find out why the aircon only blows cold when the car is moving (I am told this is normal!) If the main dealers knew what they were doing I would take it in, but would rather wait until it breaks down for the 3rd time and then they'll finally believe me that there is something wrong.
I do 35-40k a year, but can only choose diesels as it is a company lease car and don't pay for any fuel either. I am actually growing to like diesels especially on motorways where the amount of extra torque the 1.6 diesel offers over the 1.6 petrol is fairly significant.
 On the M3 Evo engine they are solid lifters so take a little longer to adust. Had my injectors off too and had them flushed and flow tested - £200ish + VAT. The joys of performance cars.
I had a sidelight bulb replaced at a dealer as I was told that you cannot replace the bulbs without removing the bumper. Brighter bulbs are all well and good until you encounter someone else who has had the same clever idea and changed theirs too, they are dazzling and painful to look at. For the sake of those people like myself who do loads of miles, keep the standard bulbs and don't drive with your fogs on.
Trust me, this is no fun in the wet. Give it some in a straight line and you are in trouble let alone round bends. I am all for getting the back out, but its a hell of a lot easier to control in the dry in this car.
There are quite a few under the £7k mark on autotrader. After the experience with mine I would certainly want to buy one from a dealer for comfort when things go wrong with it. Otherwise I would happily buy privately, certainly considerably cheaper.
I didn't appreciate quite how cheap you can buy a C4 for 2nd hand. There is an 05 plate 1.6VTR+ on Autotrader for £6,000 with 25k on the clock. You could buy that and spend the remainder on insurance.
Ultimately if it looks shiny it will be described as metallic especially if from a non franchised dealer. My bmw came from a TVR dealer and was described as blue, infact it is green. It was also described as having traction control and it doesn't.
If you are to be paying for fuel you ought to get a petrol as diesel is more expensive. You have to drive quite a few miles in order for a diesel to pay for itself. Although through preference if it were the choice of a 1.4 petrol or a 1.6 diesel, I would choose the latter every time. Enjoy Romford, it's a horrible place. Only about half an hour from me.
That is because they found that when they original cloth gets water on it, it becomes stained! Yes mine was one of those, it has had all the seats replaced and scotchguarded, however they still mark when water gets on them.
