  1. Yup, I get hit on tax hence the reason for choosing a low spec C4. Tax is calculated on the list price of the car among other things. I also get taxed on my free fuel. Steer clear of the Speed 6 TVRs, more unreliable than any other. The early Tuscans have all had their engines rebuilt and those that haven't should be avoided at all costs. Go for a 5litre Chimaera or Griff if you are after a proper tvr.
  2. You have a better C4 than me though
  3. Am only 25 once, so am making the most of it while I can afford it. Before the girlfriend gets ideas of marriage and children!
  4. If only that was in my price range! I do know someone with one and they sound fantastic
  5. I like the S2 styling and would have liked a Toyota engined car, but too much money for a weekend toy. S1 elises are all starting to look tired especially inside and the K series rover engines are pretty crap and destined for head gasket failure. As you say the VX benefits from more power than the elise and this one is completely unmarked inside and out. I like the styling and is certainly rarer than the elise.
  6. Couldn't stretch to the VXR, but managed to find a 2.2NA which looks like it. Live in the middle of nowhere, so plenty of quick country roads to explore.
  7. After being without a second car for a week the money was starting to seriously burn a hole in my pocket. Looked at a couple of ropey motors this week but chanced upon this beauty this morning and made the purchase, can't wait to collect it next weekend. Crap photos as I had to MMS them as I don't have my bluetooth dongle. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c298/alexlomas/VX220/DSC00027.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c298/alexlomas/VX220/DSC00029.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c298/alexlomas/VX220/DSC00030.jpg
  8. My mother has just returned from San Pedro and had a C3 hire car, she said that whenever it went over 120kph an alarm came on, seeing as she knows nothing about cars and couldn't read the Spanish user guide she just kept below 120.
  9. My clutch is sticky and grates around the halfway point of the throw. Asked the dealer to sort it, they oiled the pedal, most of which ended up on the mat.
  10. Yup, says "Speed Control Fault," the dealers still say they can't replicate the problem, although I keep telling them to set the cruise and repeatedly pause it, another case of the dealer not listening. They also keep telling me that there are no errors logged.
  11. My cruise failed within 5 minutes of taking delivery of the car. All of the dealers I have taken the car to have said they cannot replicate the fault and there are no fault codes logged. I have suggested that the clutch sensor is probably the fault but to date they have still done nothing. I have really given up with the 4 citroen dealers I have visited, all have offered extremely poor customer service and have never fixed a problem on its first visit. To top it all my car went to Motorsales in Harlow for the 6th time yesterday to try and cure the problem with the juddering steering wheel at motorway speeds (as if the wheels aren't balanced). The response was, the mechanic can see there is something wrong but doesn't know what and effectively there is nothing they can do. I certainly will never be choosing a Citroen from my company car list ever again. I always heard and read that Citroens were unreliable and poorly put together but thought the C4 might be different, unfortunately not.
  12. I quite like the C4 in white. Could certainly do with being lowered though.
  13. Something went wrong with the electronics and the fans wouldn't cut in. RAC couldn't fix and had to be towed.
  14. Bugger all accessories on there
  15. I had all the bars lit once and a message saying "pull over maximum engine temperature exceeded." The car then had to be recovered by the RAC. This was the day before its 2nd service after it broke down the day before its first service too.
  16. There is no congestion charge at the weekend, presumably MPH is on a weekend.
  17. My Hdi 92 rarely gets above the 2 bar mark.
  18. I could have kept goldfish in one of my rear lights. Dealer replaced the entire assembly
  19. They'll be lucky to get 10k for it. Looks nice in yellow, never seen one on the road.
  20. You'd have to be a complete pillock to think that was genuine. They are nearly all asking for pre approval before allowing your bid and the old chestnut of "my email isn't working, so use this one instead." They didn't check the photos too well as the first interior shot is an Audi! Spotting a pattern with the auction format, looks like the same scammer is at it again... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2006-MINI-COOPER-Mot...1QQcmdZViewItem
  21. That VTS was on ebay last week, with a low starting bid. I seem to recall the description was slightly longer before. The best test is to put it in your watch list and if it is still there tomorrow it is probably legit. If anyone has any sense they will want to see the car before bidding and paying. Saying that my car has over 6 grands worth of bids on it and had no one come to view yet.
  22. Good stuff RainX, I don't use it on the windscreen though as the wipers don't work so effectively and smear. Haven't been to Costco in ages, mainly because the last time I went the queues were unbelieveable.
  23. Nice to see how helpful that other chap was, pointing at the flashing warning lights and then walking off.
  24. The problem I find is the annoyance factor, especially as mine has had most of those problems and more. The main problem is that you have to make at least 2 trips to the dealer to get anything sorted. Mine is due for its 17th trip to the dealer next week.
  25. This is how you do it.... (my fathers last TVR) http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c298/alexlomas/Random/th_4d84c9c8.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c298/alexlomas/Random/bbwf_20.jpg
