  1. I had problems with my door mirror and first tried squirting WD40 through all opeinings in the casing and later blowing all dirt out of the gap between the mirror and the mounting with an airline . Not saying it's cured but it's been OK for months
  2. Is it "hunting " between gears ? Look at the gear position display to see if it's changing up and down Or try selecting the gears manually and see if it still happens Dave
  3. Can you fit the switch under the bonnet ? Surely you don't need to adjust it while driving ?
  4. Is that why the Mark 2 C5's have 16" wheels for more clearance ?
  5. Pity there's not as much room as in the "old " C5 estate . Headroom for a tall driver and legroom for rear seat passengers are very tight Dave
  6. Job done . One clip and a 6mm bolt on mine .Squirt of Dettox and blew the dirt off the pollen filter (for now) and car smells nice and I'm sure more air is coming out of the vents. Simple jobs like this and stopping the back brakes squealing and I start thinking I can work on these new cars after all !
  7. Does the same apply to the 6 speed manual box ? And is there no dipstick , so you drain it all out and refill with the appropraite amount ?
  8. Is the pollen filter in the same place on a 2006 Mk 2 C5 ? I can't see any removable panels
  9. The car isn't a diesel and the noise the turbo coming on boost , is it ?
  10. Are you saying the engine doesn't turn over ? Cheack all the connections but do you get a message "immobiliser fault "?
  11. Hi Wasn't meaning to suggest it wasn't important It was worded as a urgent recall so I've had it done About 40 mins while I waited
  12. Do you mean the hydraulic reservoir that also caters for the suspension ? If so you must use LDS fluid from your main agent, Don't overfill it .Level to the bottom of the filler with the suspension on low should be OK
  13. Just to advise there is a recall on the above . Mine's a 2006 C5 2.0 Hdi 6 speed manual Exclusive Estate Seems they are being replaced to ensure our safety As this is Citroen , does this mean it must be serious ? Dave
  14. What have you replaced the C5 with ?
  15. Interesting topic Are we talking about variations from the car manufacturers recommendations or the max pressure details on the tyre sidewall ? Assuming it's the former and finding my 2006 C5 2.0 Hdi Estate a bit harsh at low speeds , I tried lowering the tyre pressures from the recommended 2.5 bar - about 35 psi . 31 psi in the rears makes it much smoother over potholes, lowering the fronts didn't do much except make the steering less sharp Why do modern cars run at such high pressures ? Is it the lower the tyre profile , the higher the pressure ?
  16. I suspect it's because Citroen want the new C5 to be seen as an alternative to the 3 series, A4 or Merc C class .None of which are hatchbacks .The new commercial irritates me. What's happened to "Different is everything "?
  17. So does the EGR valve not serve any useful function ? I would have thought your emissions would be too high with it disconnected ?
  18. 227 duke , are you referring to the Mk 1 or Mk 2 C5's ? I have a mk 2 and used a slave battery to save losing codes , but strangely , the clock still stopped !
  19. If you are going to run 20K miles between services I think you should use the correct oil - a semi synthetic diesel oil The few £'s spent on oil is peanuts compared to the cost of an engine
  20. Hi I also have the 2006 2.0 Hdi 6 speed manual. My MPG is nothing to get excited about but I'm doing a test using Esso/ Shell fuel instead of Sainsbury's and I think it's improving At 27K miles my air filter is dirty and I think it doesn't get changed to 60K - especillay being a lease car. I may treat it to a new filter . It looks the same as the filter in my old Peugeot 406 Hdi but i believe it's a different part no. with a higher price
  21. Hi I've had the rear high level brake light glowing dimly on 2 2006 Exclusive estates Any ideas ? Dave
  22. I fitted some 17 cm or 16.5 cm (I can't remember which) dual cone Kenwoods in the front doors of my 2006 C5 and I think it sounds great on CD I had to cut off a locating peg and make up some adaptors for the wiring but iit was quite easy The same speakers had previously done duty in my Peugeot 406
  23. Aftre saying they couldn't find anything wrong ,. the garage say thay have spoken to Citroen and diagnosed a defective rear suspension strut They were told to undo the fluid return pipes , on one side the fluid dribbled out and on the other it gushed out and was apparently returning to the tank , hence no visible leak Hopefully I'll collect it tomorrow and all will be OK A warranty job , thankfully
  24. I've had a similar problem which is under Problems and Fixes - sinking suspension Dave
  25. Keep us posted on what Citroen say
