  4. OOH!! Don't say that!! They'll be branding YOU as a Luddite too! I LOVE wires, Me! Tron X
  5. Hmm..... A bit of a late addition for the Ripped-Off Brits is this. ALL Berlingo Multispaces in France have had ABS as standard since the '03 facelift..... I note that we now get passenger airbag as std too... Same comments re France apply. The Pug Partner has had passenger airbags since the facelift in the UK. This doesn't account for the 3K price difference though surely!! Tron x
  6. Agreed..... Another reason for me to have ditched the BMW MINI..... but the upside of popularity is greater demand and provided the market's not flooded, better residual values. I certainly had no difficulty in selling by Mk1 'Lingo in October... Beating 'em off I was! .... Be seeing you here... and there, I hope! Tron
  7. And why does BBC Top Gear magazine deride the Partner for looking awful and handling badly and praise the Berlingo for looking cool and handling OK-ish?........ i wouldn't buy the Pug version because I too prefer Citroens, but surely it's not THAT different?
  8. I don't think the Mehari was on sale in '67....... So, ClareB!! How did you get on with your test drive? Did you like the 'Lingo? I was dismayed to see that Autocar (never one of the publications I rate that highly) listed the Berlingo with a 3* rating in their summary of every new car on the market, praising its abilities and handling, criticising its 'van-like appearance' (D'oh!!) and 'odd driving position'. Don't know about you, but the upright 'dining-room-chair' driving position seems perfectly natural to me, and it's the enforced reclining that one needs to adopt in any other car that is actually unnatural........... It's actually pretty much the same driving position in a Citroen DS, which mus rate as the most comfortable car ever designed. Did you find a Modutop? The Berlingo's unneccessarily pricier cousin, the Peugeot Partner is available with what is described as a 'Multi-Function-Roof' which is identical, and more of these are so equipped, so if you can't track down a Berlingo, sneak into your local Peugeot dealer as they're more likely to have one. I think it was standard on the Escapade and Quicksilver versions. Don't actually BUY the Peugeot version though, it'll never be as good value as the Citroen, and inexplicably it actually depreciates faster than the Citroen! The Kangoo is the worst for depreciation of all of the van based MPVs. That's because to realise the advantage over the Citroen and Peugeot, you have to crash it. Good luck! Tron PS: Thanks for registering, Numbersix!
  9. Indeed.... Not forgetting the Mellotron!! Speaking of such things, our album is released on the 31st August. Do have a look at the website (URL as on signature) and join in our web forum which was started today: http://www.technostalgictunes.com/board/ To celebrate, I took a photo of the fabulous 'Lingo with SUNROOF OPEN outside the famous studios at Abbey Road... trouble is, I can't get it to upload. Bah! Tron PS: Disappointed to see that the Green Dome is hollow and made of fibreglass these days!!
  10. Here!! Even Pauper Spec Fortés have two of each!! Tron x (HDi Forté, ABS, Air, ESR, Alloys, CD Changer, Lateral Airbags, Metallic, Blah, Blah..... !!!)
  11. Best I've ever got out of my HDi is 670 miles from 55 litres (practically the whole tank) That's about 55mpg. Normally I reckon on 500 miles out of 50 litres, so about 45mpg. I usually have the aircon on or sunroof open, so fuel consumption will suffer in any case. I reckon on shortish trips, the 1.9D is marginally better than the HDi due to the fact that the engine reaches optimum operating temperature quicker. The HDi can run cold for ages, especially in the winter. Generally, the HDi is only about 2-3 mpg better overall than the 1.9D, but performance is better. I reckon if you could live with the smoky emissions, the old 1.9TD engine as used in the ZX etc would have been a cracker in the Berlingo, but Citroen never fitted it. Trigg can expect an improvement in mpg until about 10,000 miles, so he's doing well!
  12. Can we have an update?? Are problems fixed now?
  13. Ah!.... But the Scenic and Picasso are plain ugly! The 'Lingo has that undefinable 2CV-like rustic charm. Add the Safety pack and aircon, and it surprises virgin passengers (!) that there's so much kit in a van-with-windows. Add a CD changer in the under-seat slidy locker and they're gobsmacked! Add metallic paint, alloy wheels and a sunroof/modutop, and it even starts to look chic! It DOES start to add up, but best buy it when the VAT is knocked off and it brings you down to list price or thereabouts.... if you can bear the wait. My last car was a (crap!) BMW MINI, and the wait for the kitted-up Berlingo was longer than the delivery time on the MINI when there was still an official waiting list!
  14. They sure are, Numbersix! Just returned from a short break in the Village in fact. Another lovely day! SUNROOF ..... Every time!! Tron x
