  1. You see, it's not cheap - it's inexpensive :D
  2. And now a sad tale of Berlingo abuse. We got back on saturday after a wonderful holday. The Pendle Bike Rack was an excellent "borrow" from a mate for the fortnight but at over £200 I'm not sure I'd want to buy one. It does bounce gently over bumps which is unnerving at first but it's better than strapping them to the tailgate. On the way down, with only luggage it was great. What I failed to allow for was that after loading up with "the usual suspects", adding another Cwt of bicycle well past the rear axle was not really a smart move. whoops :o 460 miles of nervousness with light steering, dodgy cornering and all the suspension being provided by the tyres is not something I'm going to repeat. however, safely home we now have the benefits safely lodged in our dining room. For those looking to estimate the capacity of the Blingo, that's 4 boxes (48 bottles) of Breton Cidre (heavy champagne type bottles), 60 bottles of wine, 24 litres of various fizzy drinks, 20 bottles of spirits/aperitifs various as well as assorted other foodstuffs (as well as a fortnights luggage for a family of four). http://gibsonfamily.interactivehosting.co.uk/images/load.jpg
  3. Never mind springs breaking, does it cure the creaking when damp !
  4. Heading off to Brittany tomorrow, is there anything new or particularly "French" available for the Blingo these days that would be a good buy while I'm over there ? (apart from shedloads of wine, Carambars, Orangina Rouge, etc)
  5. It's apparently the same recall as the Picasso but does not affect all vehicles. I took the opportunity to see if my (June 04) was affected before it was serviced as I didn't want to have to book it in again. Mines not on the list - although I can't find an online list to absolutely confirm that.
  6. Guys, Can you all advise me how many keys were supplied with your Blingos when new. Ours has one normal and one master. When I compared that to my C2 (2 normal keys no master) at a meeting with a guy from MIRRC Thatcham today he expressed surprise and I said I'd check it out in case ours is "odd" in any way. cheers
  7. Bob, If it can do either of those things then that's a new feature which isn't on the 04 plate models. Having said that, it's got multiplex wiring so these kind of upgrades are easily possible. cheers
  8. The crucial word there is similar Having said that, the other relevant word is fiver <_<
  9. Bob, This question may be a bit "previous" until you take delivery but does it look like it will need cutting for the modubox ?
  10. Yeah, I want to know what happened to Billy Gibbons
  11. I think we previously identified that this was also a Picasso issue. Interestingly, I received a recall notice for my Picasso (sold 2 years ago - top database at CUK !) to fit a "cup" to the front springs. When I called the dealer about it he said that it was a massive recall and included Berlingo's as well - but following a VIN check, not mine. I might try lifting the front and simply rotating the spring while the weight's off to see if that makes a difference.
  12. Looks good. I have one from a van which is exactly the same as the standard one. It's simply laid over the top of the existing mat to give a double thickness. It's a cheaper option but probably not as nice as that one. Of course I had to take a Stanley knife to the front section.
  13. Hi Bob, Good to see you here as well. This used to be a very busy forum but dissapeared off-line for a while. Now it's back it seems a lot quieter -maybe we just need the new blood. We''ll be alright with another petrol onwer as well - the tractor drivers get a bit vocal about their fuel consumption (or lack of it) every now and then.
  14. Chasing Lance ?
  15. Oxy, Sorry to hear that mate. How many miles on your Blingo ? Any indication that this is something that Blingos suffer from or just "one of those things" cheers
  16. Welcome back Dickie, I think I may have jumped the gun by going for normal personal cover on the C2 because we haven't recieved a reminder on our Blingo either. Our Blingo is 1 year old on the 16th (just renewed the insurance £279 - not bad for a London postcode and no garage) so we should have had a reminder on the Citroen Assist by now. If this is 2 year cover on the Blingo, presumably it includes Europe - that'll save a few bob in August. Does anyone have this two year thing in writing anywhere or can point me to where to look on the paperwork. UPDATE 1630 I think Oxy's had a personal result - it might have been nice if Citroen said one thing and the RAC's systems couldn't tell the difference between a Van and a Multispace and said the other. Anyway, I've spoken to both Citroen and the RAC, and they both say my cover has expired. Ho - hum. So, I'll need some euro cover.
  17. That's a result. Generally I would have thought that a commercial would get less in the way of "retail benefits" not more. Our C2 ran out of Citroen Assist first so we took out the discounted RAC personal cover for both of us at that point. So at least we don't need to worry about the Blingo. They were however monumentally incompetent with the paperwork (such that my wife is actually the member not me - and both of the cars are registered in my name). That'll teach me not to switch back to the AA. However, as they made me redundant after 15 years loyal service man and boy (not in that order of course) I felt that I would take my business elsewhere.
  18. Cheers Ian - yes, my C2 was also spot on- if the indicators were "smart", that one would probably not have shown a service for miles more as the C2 spends it's life taking it easy on motorways.
  19. Does anyone know if the spanner icon in the display is "smart" at all. Ours is advising 250 miles to go beofre a service when we've only got 8,500 miles on the clock. If it knows that the car is (nearly) always used in town and is allowing for short journeys then fair enough - but if not, what gives ?
  20. Towequipe seem very helpfull and prompt in responding to e-mails. Does the multiplex wiring on the '02 on models pose any problems with towbar wiring ?
  21. Have look at the Honda website (the FRV appealed to me in amoment of madness) They have a "compare" function. Select the FRV and put it against the Berlingo. I'm sticking thanks very much.
  22. Let joy be unconfined - I've found you all again. (the C2 Owners club is all kids !) We had an attempted theft of ours last week. The scroat obviously didn't notice the wire hawser we use to secure it. My wife went to drive away and heard the noise as the cage was on the ground. When I looked at it later, I could see absolutely no sign of leverage/force being applied anywhere on the cage - and it was screwed up tight. The tyre wasn't deflated either. I can't see why these thefts are such a problem. Given the price of a wheel/tyre combination new, surely the secondhand "hot" value doesn't warrant the risk and effort of wandering down the road with a dirty wheel. Surely there are easier and more lucrative methods of raising the funds for a fix.
  23. A search generally on the 'net seems to throw up "Hollywood F4 Bike Station Rack" as a good choice for vertical rear doors as the weight seems to sit on the bumper. I don't fanct the extra height of the roofrack types and don't think I'm going to go to the expense of fitting a tow-hitch just to mount a bike rack (mind you it might give me the excuse to buy a jetski/hang-glider/horse/dinghy or anything else that requires a trailer (or think of the booze I could bring home  ). I'll keep you informed of how the search is going.
  24. Any suggestions for a bike rack for the Blingo. Needs to take 2 adult bikes, a 24" kids bike and a smallish childs bike. Quality more important than price. (I'm spending the Speedferries saving over the Tunnel :) !)
  25. Have you got a link to a Picture -or can you post an image here. cheers
