  1. Hello & welcome to the forum.
  2. Which system do you have? If it's Myway you can buy a (pirated) copy on ebay. See here....http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Latest-2016-Peugeot-Citroen-SD-Card-GPS-Sat-Nav-Update-RNEG-Myway-Wipnav-EU-UK-/121975883321 The one I'm using is a copy of the 2012 version.
  3. Before jacking the car up you should always raise the suspension to the full height. If you don't you may find the suspension malfunctions when lowered.
  4. That's good! Sounds as though the garage has certainly gone the extra mile to solve the problem. Let's hope it stays dry. Keep us updated.
  5. Hello & welcome to the forum. Here's to it being a long time before we hear about your car problems. Enjoy!
  6. When I had my Mk2 I had the front off a couple of times. Once to do the side light bulbs and again to do the washer pump. There are bolts under the bonnet edge; more underneath the bumper and some under the wheel arches. When they are all removed, the sides of the bumper need to be moved forward slightly and then pulled outwards to release the clips which you can see in my picture. They are just moulded plastic so need to be treated carefully. Frankly I would just use some spray paint and leave the bumper alone.
  7. In the past I've done all those jobs on my daughters 2002 Xsara and it would have taken me a morning's work. Even dealing with the undertray can be quite time consuming. 75 quid sounds reasonable.
  8. Also check the bottom engine mounting bush.
  9. No! it wouldn't happen as quickly as that. I have a vague recollection of a post on the forum a few years ago - someone replaced seals on a rack but it still leaked. AFAIR it was because of rust pits on a shaft. Paul or Steve - Do you remember it?
  10. In which case it uses Fluide DA. And according to the Total specification sheet is the same as LDS. I don't know how DA compares with other power steering fluids but they might destroy the seal material.
  11. Here's a picture which may help.
  12. It's under the bonnet on the drivers side, just in front of the coolant reservoir. It's filled with Fluide DA. However if your C5 has pneumatic suspension, you won't have a steering fluid reservoir. It's all part of the suspension system which is filled with Fluide LDS. As far as we can tell DA and LDS are one and the same fluids.
  13. If it's of help - a Citroen dealer would allow 2.5 hours labour time to do both sides. And replacement springs can be had from around £35 on ebay....http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CITROEN-C8-HDI-2-0-FRONT-L-COIL-SPRING-FROM-7-02-ONWARDS/330690283700?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D36381%26meid%3D54ffb840c6dd49b5a37df2b12c50f64a%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D220958974596......but make sure you get the correct ones for your car.
  14. Yes - the leg needs to come out then you'll need a pair of spring compressors - maybe not to remove the broken spring but certainly to replace with the new one. Incidentally, they recommend replacing them as a pair. Any competent garage should be able to do the job. Springs are available else where other than main dealers.
  15. I think the colour code you need is ENU. There are loads of online aerosol suppliers who will mix for you.... I think Halfords will do them also.

I had tyre pressure monitors on my previous Mk2 C5 and in nine years of ownership I didn't have any trouble with the system however, on later models the valve stems became noted for corrosion and were known to snap off just by removing a tight dust cap. You should do something about the rear valves pronto. It would be most inconvenient for you if one snapped when you were out and about. New monitors can be bought for 30-40 quid each and I believe you can also repair the stems. See this previous post.......http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/10809-tyre-pressure-monitor-valves/
  17. Also check the power steering rack for any signs of leakage. Several forum members with early X7's have reported leaks.
  18. If you fit these tyres the new wheels in the wheel arch might look a bit odd because they will be nearly an inch less in diameter than the originals. Also because they are of less diameter they will turn more times per mile which will put your speedo and milometer wrong. Also the wrong size might be picked up at MOT. Your insurers certainly wouldn't like the idea.
  19. We're not likely to find out. Mat hasn't been on the forum since 2007. No doubt the car's moved on.
  20. Steve will be your man to answer your question about the turbo. He'll be along later.
  21. That was Citroen's own suspension system which was first introduced in 1955. It was a reliable innovatory system but also a simple idea which used gas and oil on each side of a membrane. The gas could be compressed which gave the comfort whilst the oil, through a pump managed the ride height. The system was carried forward into the Xantias and later the C5. Sadly, because Citroen is now the poor relative of Peugeot, it's very likely that we will shortly see the end of the hydraulic suspension. And Yes! You're right. On the BX you could raise the suspension, put some bricks under the cill, lower the suspension and the wheels lifted off the ground.
  22. Over the weekend daughters and I popped over to Calais for the day. We parked close to the pier and before long another Citroen pulled in and parked a few bays away from us. It was a beautifully kept Citroen Traction Avant of around 1955. Before 1954 Traction Avants had a flat boot lid with the shape of the spare wheel in them. After '54 they were given the larger boot and yet by 1956 had finished production, so this old lady is around 62 years old. In their early days Citroen was one of the leading companies for innovative ideas and the Avant was one of the first production line cars to be fitted with front wheel drive and as a unibody car.
  23. So that puts it amongst the first of the C5-X7s (commonly called the Mk3)
  24. No - that makes it an 8 valve 110HP. But don't worry about it not being a 16valve. Many people believe that the 8-valve engine is better than the later one. Looked after, it will do mega miles.
  25. Welcome to the Citroen family. My own journey into Citroens began in 1990 with a BX-TZD Estate car. Over the last 26 years I've gone through BXs; Zantias; C5Mk2 and now a C5-X7. My enthusiasm has spread to the family who have had between them AXs; Xsaras; Pug 205s; 306s and C4. All of us are very happy with them.
