Id say it shouldnt use oil like that. I am very sceptical about these extended service intervals that all manufacturers seem to be adopting. I mean, 20000 miles before the first oil change is along time to have swarf and constantly degrading oil in a new engine for. Id get it booked in to your dealer and aks them to look at it.

Heres some pics. May have to re-think the spray paint bit, because the paint is already starting to rub off the foam. May have to cover it with something. The MP3 player is a Sony NWA-3000. It doesnt move at all in the holder. Think an Ipod would work enven better cause the shape is easier to cut into the foam and there is a bigger distance between the bottom of the player and bottom of the scroll wheel. http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/6241/p61801602sv.jpg http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/8736/p61801596gk.jpg http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/6373/p61801560qr.jpg http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/5752/p61801552cj.jpg Anyway, what do people think, not bad for an afternoons work.

Hi all, Got my MP3 player all up and running this morning and have spent the rest of the day making a holder for it. I used some stiff plasticky packaging foam for the holder. I cut it to the shape of the small slide out cubby hole in the dash (under the airvent) on the drives side. Then, I decided on the best angle and cut a slot in the foam for the MP3 player, so that it is angled back (resting against the dash) and in towards the centre of the car, facing the driver. I then sprayed the foam black using Plastikote spray paint. I then had to get the cable in. I took the cubby hole drawer out and pulled the cable through from the radio to the cubby hole. I had to drill a 10mm hole on the back RH corner of the cubby drawer so I could get the cable and jack plug into the drawer. When the paint was dry, I put the foam in the cubby hole, stood the MP3 player in and then connected the cable to the player and hey presto, one home made MP3 holder. And the best bit is, when you get out, un-plug the Mp3 player, remove from holder, tuck cable and jack plug into drawer and slide into the dash. Works brilliantly!!!

Functions That Can Be Enabled Via Dealer Software
Mike5483 replied to Mike5483's topic in C4 - Technical
You have to have tyre pressure sensors to have water and oil pressure enabled??? Where is this shown on the display??? -
Reading on other car forums, it seems that there are generally a lot of features that can be switched on/off via dealer software. I was just wondering if there was anything like this for the C4???
-
Oh so it should have a cover. Mine is missing then. Not particularly fussed, just never noticed it before. Thanks for clearing that up everyone. Got the car booked in for next saturday to have it all switched on. Heres hoping all goes ok!!!
-
I thought that was at the top??? There is a vent in the top which I can open and close. There is a hole in the RHS 'wall' at the back of the glove box at the top (the bottom of the hole doesnt far sit off the 'shelf').
-
How many times has he heard 'Can you make my car into a transformer?' or something similar!!!
-
Well this is it. I wouldnt drill a hole unless I knew it was absolutely clear on the back side. I need about a 30mm gap for the bulkhead jackplug ive bought anyway so the hole would have to be drilled in a clear spot. I might locate it somewhere else, maybe that little cubby hole down by the drivers right leg, you can get to the back of that easy. Its a bit awkward because the MP3 player ive got is the new sony one (NWA3000) and is quite big, so there is nowhere really to put it and there is not (as yet) a dash mounting bracket for it.

In my glove box, ive just noticed I have a hole. its at the back on the right hand 'wall'. It looks like it should have a cover over it, but if thats the case, its missing. Im currently putting in my MP3 lead, thats how I noticed it. What im thinking of doing is buying a bulkhead female 3mm jackplug and drilling a small hole somewhere in the glovebox and fiking the bulkhead jack plug to this, so that its not flapping about in the glove box. Do you think theyre are any warrenty isues with drilling a small hole (possibly 5mm or 6mm) inside the side/back of the glove box

Here Here to the best car in its class (by far)!!!

Ive got no complaints about the ride quality on mine. My car has nearly 22000 miles on it now. Maybe it takes ages for the suspension to bed in properly???
-
Rainham boy are you??? I use Hidsons Northfleet and to be honest, im not overly impressed with them. They are ok, but they dont set my world alight!!!

Wozza...Slower...Slower.... :D Mine aint slow our kid.... A nice day out yesterday to west mids safari park and returned 58.5 MPG... And i was buggering about wiv me Cruise control..(New Toy)... I aint goin back to Petrol now youff...... :P ... Right back on Topic before i get more Petrol heads after me blood... Where's this KFC geezer then....? ... Inccy... B) Apparently with Diesel prices as they are, you now have to 15000 miles per year to justify a diesel on financial grounds.

Least I know they do actually exist. I spoke to my dealer this afternoon on the phone about them, but he didnt know what they were and couldnt find them on the parts system. Im going down wednesday to pick up my MP3 player adapter lead, so Ill have a chat then.
-
Apparently, on the C4, you can get courtesy lights that fit into the bottom of the doors. These light up the footwells when the lights come on. My car has got a blanking plate in the bottom of each door trim, so I assume they do exist. Does anyone have them fitted to confirm that they exist, and does anyone know some part numbers. My car is the coupe, I dont know if the lights would be different between this and the 4 door. Thanks for any info, Mike.

My 2.0litre petrol always gets about 31MPG on average. Thats a mix of town and motorway, with more emphasis on town.

Easiest thing to check is the plug on the back. You can take the switch out, the whole of the plastic piece has to come out though and to do that you need a particular Torx bit, cant remember what size but if you have got one of those cheapie socket sets or screwdriver things, chances are you'll have the right bit. Anyway, the Torx screw is in the the handle bit that goes down into the door. Edit: Wozza got there first, Doh!!!

Thats a really good point about owner demographics. As for the Civic, I have heard that the dash can be a bit rattley. Ive also sat in one at a dealership and the dash is made of some really hard plastic, not soft touch like the C4.
-
Ive had 3 cars, a FIAT a Rover and now my C4. My Brother is now on his 3rd Civic. As Barns said, when I buy a new car, I want a change. As for the C4, its absolutely superb. Definately the best car Ive had, and I'd go as far as to say its currently the best car in our family!!!

I already know how to put an MP3 in. If you put MP3 and C4 into Google and you get loads of websites come back. And anyway, you havent given any information in this thread. All you have done is have a go at me for criticising my dealers prices. As for moaning about dealership prices, im sorry I upset you, but you dont seem to see it from the other side. I dont moan about dealership prices if they are doing a proper job. Did I moan when I had to shell out £500 to have my Rover's HG done? No I didnt. Its a proper job that had to be done and I didnt mind paying for the technicians skills. However, give me a computer and the software and I could switch my auxiliary port on myself. As for the above comment about the information you apparently provided in this thread, sorry but I find that quite childish. And to imply that I have somehow used you is crap.
-
Thats one of the things that bugs me, you cant do it yourself. They've got you over a barrel and they shaft you for the privledge!!! They're all the same, not just Citroen. And as for Lawyers and Estate Agents, dont get me started!!!
-
What, so £15 equates to a Citroen technicians hourly rate!!! Blimey, Im in the wrong trade!!! Wish I was on £30 an hour. Thats gotta be wrong. I would say £15 would easily cover a technicians hourly rate with enough left over to pay for at least a few of those other things. I mean, for god sake, I get about £12 per hour as an electrician where I work and we have to pay for more water and electricity then any dealership could ever throw a stick at (I work in a papermill). And, whenever my car has been at the dealership, it has never been cleaned. Besides, this goes against what Iw as saying anyway. I cant odds what the dealer charges. The point is, I dont like it and begrudge paying £30 for (at most) half hours work. Justify it all you like (I dont need you to, I can do that for myself), but it wont change my mind, it is a lot of money for the work involved.
-
How much would I like to pay for this work to be done... I dont know, at a push id pay £20 (ideally about £15). I know its not much different but psychologically it makes a world of difference. I know its probably not as simple as I think it is, but its not exactly a difficult manual task is it, the guy aint gonna get skinned knuckles over it is he!!!
