one broken wire and it will try find and earth wherever it can........ how many times have we followed a car with an indicator flashing and the whole light unit flashes with it.

Whilst it isnt impossible for the BSI to become faulty i would doubt very much if this was the cause. Reading forums will often guide people to replacing or suspecting faulty components when in fact it is something far more simple.....and ussually cheaper. Before you start replacing/spending major amounts of money i would check the wiring at the tailgate hinge and see if the earth wire has broken due to fatigue caused by years of opening the tailgate. I appreciate you have had an auto electrician look at the vehicle and condemn the BSI.....but he isnt the one who is going to be presented with the bill.....he's even told you it will need to go to the dealer for programing.....which is correct......but has he disconnected it and checked the wiring for continuity between BSI and tailgate? Do your self a favour......have a quick check of that wiring....you might save a few quid.

Does the noise only occur just after starting the vehicle, has it got fully automatic air conditioning.....does it sound like a ring tapping on glass and only last 10 seconds?, is it a rattle, a vibration or a knock? ...does the fault only occur when moving?.....does it get worse the faster you go....is it affected by speed humps/potholes.....if you touch anything does the noise dissapear or vary in regularity?

Go back to basics and make sure the connectors fit tight to the battery and that the cable isnt corroded where it enters the connectors. Also check earths to the body of the vehicle and the gearbox. If you have a jump lead knocking about put the clamp on the negative battery clamp (not wire) and the other end to the gearbox/engine casing.....if your problems are resolved suspect the negative lead/connections. Try a similar check with the positive lead (but dont touch it on the engine/gearbox)...follow to where the positive lead goes.....usually fuse box and starter motor, see if bypassing the wire to the battery resolves the problem.

leave radio and ignition on for 1 hour then see if it clears

You could lift the carpet in the drivers foot well to gain access to the air con drain pipe.....removeit from where it exits the floor, and make sure the water can get out...........ohhh.....and till you get it fixed turn the air con off so you dont make it worse!
-
....OR THE AIR CON IS ON AND INSTEAD OF DRAINING OUT INTO THE ROAD IT HAS STARTED TO TREAT THE CAR AS A BUCKET!

Best Place To Purchase Borg Warner Solenoid Valves For Al4 Transmissio
kfk replied to jackafrica's topic in C5 - Technical
If you can source them from the UK th retail price of the component is £48.37 inc vat each (sept 2008). If you replace this component the computer needs to be checked to confirm the software is of the latest version. Due to the computer controlling the frequency of opening / closing of the valves a new valve with the incorect software will fail very quickly -
Plastic plenum chambers exploding......usually caused by a missfire.......so have you changed the plugs and checked the coil?

But then not knowing the full service history of the vehicle, you dont know if at some stage a repair has taken place that has involved the removal of the cambelt earlier in its life and subsequently it has been repaired incorrectly. If this has occured any blame for the failure would then pass from Citroen UK to the last person to work on the cambelt or the cambelt manufacturer.....but we dont know that! As far as a guarantee that the belt will last......the mileage and time limit is a recomendation that you shouldnt exceed....not a guaranteed life expectancy. As for the Recall....i'd be interested to know what recall were on about?
-
The problem here techbod is that the injectors seize into the cylinderhead and until you can get the injectors out you cant remove the cylinder head to establish the rest of the damage.

Try pressing the button on the end of the wiper switch for 10 seconds see if that resolves it.

Total Quartz 5w40 fully synthetic is the stuff recomended.... semi synthetic 10w40 can also be used.

The only thing i will say is that there is a definite diference in the quality of genuine and pattern exhaust parts. Overall there is a considerable difference in weight.....andas far as fitment goes its one of those components you want to have correct clearance around the exhaust and ground clearance. Ok......i know the Citroen price is OTT and i wont say its value for money.....but the catalytic convertor will be the correct size to do the job its designed for and it will fit!

There isnt a specified mileage/time to replace the oil as it is considered sealed for life (how long is life?). With regards to replacing the gear oil getting the correct level is decided when the gear oil temperature has reached 60 degrees. Whe removing the drain bolt you will find it consists of 2 parts......first the level screw and 2nd the level tube/drainbolt.

The bumper might have the cut outs in it but the wiring harness wont be present and neither with the software in the various computers. >>>>>>>>>>>> To assist with answering questions please give more information about the exact model you own
-
apart from not knowing what you are trying to achieve, you havent stted what model / engine size your ZX is. In answer to your question......the body is different, the dash is different, the seats are different, the engine might be the same some of the exhaust components might be the same but could be longer or shorter as a complete system. the gearbox ight be the same but then might only look the same and have different ratios inside.

Did i forget the fullstop? :)

whether it be a coded key pad or a chipped key it is basically the same idea.......however as you say, you can give a coded key to a thief for them to take it.......there doesnt seem much benefit in the key pad system as they will still hold a knife to your throat and ask you for the code first!

Clutch operation on HDi is hydraulic (all other Xantias are cable)
