Had the clutch switch replaced om my C5 a couple of weeks ago- took about an hour and a half.
-
Kfk C5 went in yesterday and technician worked on it for three hours including rear windscreen refitting and also disconnected radio without success. However, later on in the day it is now working okay hurrah :o I think it was something to do with the radio. Apparently there has only been two other cases similar to mine on a Mk 2 C5, both in Germany. Alls well that ends well, worth looking at radio if you come across the situation again. Regards Eddie Eddie

Let us know how you get on , but well done for taking the plunge.

Citroen v Ford? Don't make me laugh, at least What Car? likes them. <_<
-
IMHO I would always use a Citroen Dealer, providing - a) You have built up a good relationship  Smaller family ones know more about customer service than bigger multi operators c) Negotiate a discount as a good customer d) Work warrantied e) Courtesy car available. f) Plus Kfk points

John Did you get a cost breakdown of your service? I'm sure KFK would be able to let you know if it is too much.

Kfk Can't see anything untoward, but like you I think it's too much of a coincidence. Have printed correspondence and will see dealer next week. As usual, your knowledge and expertise has been top drawer. Regards Eddie

Kfk It's not the tom tom charger,I took it out and economy still came up. However, at my last service, they repaced my rear screen as it was stuck shut. I know that this was replaced due to earthing failure in the old one. Could the new one be draining the system somewhere? Thanks Eddie

Kfk 3.As I get in and out of the car a lot during the day economy mode only appears if I have left the car for a while ,possibly half an hour .(eg it does not come on when I fill up, lock and return to the car in a short space of time) 4. I have unplugged the tom tom lead for the weekend and will monitor it. Interesting point about other sources that may cause power to drain, which may be like a needle in a haystack, but I will put the point to my Dealer. Yes the dealer did expreience the fault but the tom tom was left in during the time in the garage. Thanks PS I'm off to the Citroen organised track day in Warwick tomorrow - have you tried racing a C8 three laps around a race track? Good day out if last year was anything to go by :D

Kfk 1.Yes , when I start the car everything is fine and economy mode disappears. 2.Once the car has been on a run and I switch the engine off, then economy mode does not appear straight away. 3.Yes, if I leave for a longer period(not sure if it is but maybe 30 mins) then economy appears straight away. 4. I have a tom tom charger permanently connected to my lighter socket, but this has been insitu since November last year without any problems before the service in May. Could this be the answer, but it is strange it hasn't happened until recently? I have had a CD changer fitted to under my seat, but that was 12 months ago by my Citroen dealer as an approved accessory. Thanks for your knowledge and attention. Eddie

Kfk Following a 37500 mile service on my C5 1.6Hdi estate by a Peugeot Authorised Repairer, economy mode appears as soon as I get in the car. My Citroen dealer had tried on two different occasions with internet downloads etc to reset Economy to 30 mins without success and has never known this problem before. Their Technician will be going to his monthly meeting in July with Citroen to discuss. Can you shed any light on this problem if you have come across before? Thanks Eddie

Wozza If you'd waited you'd never buy. As long as you got the best deal at the time, that's all that matters.

Kfk Change a headlamp bulb? I don't know how to open the bonnet :D I know, I'd better look in the manual. :)
-
I think that the C4 is a great car and may get one when I change my C5 early 2008 as the kids have grown up now. But you get a lot of car for the money with the C5 compared with the C4 due to bigger discounts.

What information do you put in about dealers or do you just make it all up apart from your email addresss?
-
Are England palying then? That wasn't on my radar.......... :P
-
Ah well, at least you can have Sunday off :P
-
Thanks Kfk. I'll chat about to the Service Manager when I go in next week. Eddie

Kfk Would this apply to my new look C5 1.6 HDi also? I'm having a new switch fitted next week as occasionally SPEED CONTROL SYSTEM FAULTY occurs. Thanks Eddie

Kfk How do I carry out such an operation as my granny died about 20 years ago? :D

Barns The way I look at it people would rather moan than give praise. I'm not going to say that Citroen's are the best cars, but I have very few poblems and when I do they are dealt with professionally and efficiently. Japanese cars are reliable, but I prefer French flair anytime. Keep the faith.

KFK My Dealer charges £65 plus VAT per hour, but as I am a good customer I get a reduction. I don't begrudge people making a living, and there are overheads etc, but I think that is pretty steep for any profession. I'm not trying to be controversial, just debating the issue. What do you think?
-
Kfk is absolutely right - worth paying a bit more for warrantied work that will work first time. B)
-
Blimey KFK - do you ever go to bed? Thanks anyway.

KFK Had my rear screen replaced under warranty on my new look C5, but now my rear wiper only wipes about 160 degrees instead of 180 degrees. Dealer says that it is normal :o . I'm not happy about this :( What do you think? Thanks PS They can't fix economy mode coming on as soon as I put key in ignition-they are speaking to Citroen for advise.
