Hi guys. C5 2.2 2002 Hatch Back. I've just noticed my N/S rear tyre is very badly worn on the outside edge. I assumed that this was trailing arm bearing wear but I have also read quite a few times on this site that when trailing arm bearings are gone that you get wear on the INSIDE edge of the tyre. Your thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Hi. The tyre was a new one bought by me about 20,000 miles ago and has only been fitted to that hub. The wheel bearing seems fine ie: no noise or lateral movement if I spin it by hand.Interestingly if I stand back and look at the wheel from behind it appears if anything to have negative camber, the opposite of what one would expect. The tyre on the opposite side shows only normal even wear. Malcolm

And you can't say "use the train/bus" etc Cost of fares is prohibitive and the public transport structure woukld collapse if people abandoned their cars and got on the bus

Interesting rant lol. Noticed today how slow the traffic was on the M5/M6 no one going faster than 70 mph, maybe the cost of fuel as an upside? Another interesting thing, did anyone notice how fuel prices rocketed up when there was talk of a shortage, but it hasn't come down now they've agreed a way forward with the Unions...........!!!!!

The fuel price should come down, the oil price has fallen over the last week from its high of about $125 to about $119 due to the sanctions against oil sales in Iran, before which the oil price had been about $110 a barrel.

I still have to avoid the 80-90 mph range rovers hurtling down the outside lanes of the motorways so not everyone is too bothered by the high prices.

They'll be the company car drivers who have a company credit card in their wallets.

I've often wondered what mpg a Range Rover would do at 90 mph

Single figures?

Dave I used to drive one professionally (and fast at times) and if you got 8mpg it was a cause for celebration.........lol

So, doing a long motorway trip and allowing for the pit stops for the range rover, then most other cars probably get there first doing normal speeds. Also the high number of these passing you on the motorway are actually the same car that has kept stopping at the services.

When you think about your statement, it is probably quite true............lol My brother in law used to put £600+ of fuel per week in his Range Rover Sport petrol (company fuel card), he now has a diesel and gets nearly 20 mpg......p1llock that he is........
