coastline taxis Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Whats it doing to piss you off. And just a point of clarification the words 1.6 hdi and good car dont really go togetherwell ha ha Quote
DaveHerns Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 You should have 30 mins before it goes into economy mode .It's to prevent you finding you've flattened the battery and can't restart the car Quote
richey_t Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Hi, I am having an issue with economy mode with my 1.6HDI 2008 C5 too. When I get in the car, it comes up with economy mode active straight away, every time. I have just rang Citroen who tell me its a known issue which can be resolved with a software update that will cost me £90 +VAT!!!!!! Im trying to get it sorted with a warranty that I paid for with the car, but they are saying its not a fault its just an issue that does stop the car from working..... not impressed! Quote
Guest Parkesie Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Follow the disconnect reconnect instructions for your battery while its disconnected clean the terminals. This resets the bsi that can cause this issue and eliminates poor battery connection as a cause. Also check the health of the battery. Replace if necessary. Quote
Kertrats24 Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Hi I just got my c5 vtr plus tourer 2009 I got in it at the garage and it was showing Eco mode thinking not to worry I had a 50 mile drive home to charge the battery I got home and with the engine off it went into ecomode within mins it was a little better after cleaning the bat connectors but now back to ecomode with the engine running the batt is showing over 14v off just over 12v do we think a new batt will fix it or am I barking up the wrong tree.Regards stu Quote
paul.h Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Welcome to the forum. The time it takes to go to economy mode is supposed to be affected by the battery voltage. A fully charged one should be about 12.5 to 12.7 volts before starting the engine and some hours after it has last run. So if your battery is just over 12 volts then maybe it needs a good charge. Often cars just purchased may have sat around for some time so the battery will be down a bit, so I would wait until a few days of running before worrying about the battery, or you could charge it off the car. Johndouglas Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 . When I get in the car, it comes up with economy mode active straight away, every time. The fact that economy mode is displayed isn't anything to worry about. If you switch off but keep the radio on, you'll get about 30 minutes of radio before the system closes down. If your battery is unhealthy it will be much quicker. After that no ignition controlled items will work - until the engine runs again. Sometimes when I switch on my C5 economy mode isn't displayed, but at other times it is, usually after I haven't used the car for a couple of days. AFAIK economy mode can't be disabled - better just to learn to live with it. Quote
Kertrats24 Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I was getting Eco mode after about 5min of radio or if hadn't driven the car for a bit easy fix was to replace the battery. Quote
