DaveHerns Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Never knew I had a message box ! I'd be happy to be a moderator but I don't know if I'm keeping the old C5 .It's getting on in years and miles .Toying with getting a Peugeot 508 estate , like a C5 but simpler and cheaper. I'll let you know what happens John , was it you behind a website " I hate L*vek*ns" ( or similar)? I want to do something similar to a firm of builders that took £2800 off my elderly mother for roof work that wasn't needed Quote
Johndouglas Posted July 14, 2013 Author Posted July 14, 2013 Never knew I had a message box If you look at the top of the page where the thick black line is you'll see a symbol like an open envelope. Yours should have a red mark against it showing you have a waiting message. Click on the envelope to read the message. Replies are made in the same way as replying to a post. Don't leave too many messages in there otherwise you mail box becomes full. Quote
Johndouglas Posted July 14, 2013 Author Posted July 14, 2013 John , was it you behind a website " I hate L*vek*ns" Not guilty, M'Lud. Although I've never been greatly impressed with L*vek*ns, even before they changed hands. Much less afterwards, but I've never started a website about them. As far as your builder is concerned, try Trading Standards or CAB. Even Watchdog - there may be others in the locality who have complaints against them. Quote
DaveHerns Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 We've tried all the usual sources regarding these cowboy roofers with no success .I wanted to start a website so that when anyone did a search on their name , they would see what happened . I realise I need to keep it factual Tax runs out on my C5 at the end of ther month . I've seen a 12 plate Exclusive Estate with all the trimmings but it's miles awayLOADS of 508's around . Quote
Johndouglas Posted July 21, 2013 Author Posted July 21, 2013 LOADS of 508's around . Is there much difference - apart from the badge, between a 508 and a C5VTR. They both have steel springs. Quote
qman3428 Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 With the web site, you will need to submit it to search engines and before it shows up anywhere near where it will be found it will take months of effort. You also need to be very careful about what you say or they could sue. It is often easy for them to get the IP to take the site down as offensive and the IP doesnt want a legal battle.I would suggest trading standards as a better approach. Quote
DaveHerns Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Perhaps I should focus my anger and energies on preventing my mother from getting conned again .This wasn't the first time and I suspect it won't be the last. Quote

That's what I'm thinking .Not as well specified though- no powerfolding mirrors amd no privacy glass The 12 plate Exclusive seems to have sold within days Quote
DaveHerns Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Well I've gone and bought a 62 plate Peugeot 508 Estate . Got the 2.0 Hdi engine and 6 speed manual box , same as my C5.I'd like to say thanks to you all for your help over the years. I'll look in from time to time to see what's happening in the world of C5'sI do have one question - I need to fit aftermarket parking sensors to the 508 - do I take the power feed from one of the bulb holders of the reversing lights or will I be able to get a feed from a towbar electrics socket (if I can find it) without throwing the electrical system into confusion ? bobtuck Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 qman is right Dave....in order for a web site to return a hit from search engines takes a massive amount of time, effort and persitance! Local papers? Trading Standards?? Quote
paul.h Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 If your new car is anything like our 2007 C5 estate, the towbar wiring socket is at the left side of the boot behind the panel (the wiring route follows the left sill from the fusebox). It has a direct 12 volt supply from the battery via the cabin fusebox - here there is a yellow row of constantly live fuses used for the towbar and the electric seats. The towbar wiring uses a smart relay so the 12 volt supply switches off when the engine is not running (it senses the battery voltage). Quote
