BigBruv Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 I have a 54 plate C8, 2.2 HDI, 105 000 miles. When i first got this car at 78 000 miles I started having antipollution faults, kept clearing the faults and they would come back after a bit.My Brother in law has his own service garage so it doesnt cost me anything to have codes read and cleared. Then I had the unblock diesel filter fault, so I replaced the DPF with a new one (not citroen) and replaced the DPF pressure sensor. This fixed the problem. Now I have the antipollution fault again, the codes are. Diesel additive system, Diesel additive level, and turbo solinoid valve. The engine light stays on for 4 to 5 starts and usually goes off, I normally have power but now and then it goes into limp mode, normally if i stop and switch off for a couple of minutes and carry on the light stays on but i have power back. The additive level is fine, over three litres in the tank. the turbo code is apparantly when the car goes into limp mode. ? dunno about that one. the additive system one i dont know either. What i didnt know is that there is another ECU just for the additive system, when the codes were read for this it had a code for diesel additive pump, this code would not clear. I spoke to citroen and you cannot get just the pump you need a whole new additive tank as its built in.I did this, changed the tank put the additive fluid in and within a few miles im back in limp mode. Does anyone know of this fault? is there a way of testing the pump, or could it be a fuse? if so what one .. Any help would be appreciated. There must be someone who knows how this system works. Thanks BB. Quote
coastline taxis Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 did you code the pump in and reset the counter Quote
BigBruv Posted June 16, 2015 Author Posted June 16, 2015 Just been to do that. Used the brother in law's reader. It's a Snapon verdict d7. Cleared the main ecu codes, went into the additive ecu, cleared the code for the additive pump, reset the levels, and in special functions did a listening test on the pump actuator which worked fine. Did a listening test on the additive injectors but couldn't. Hear anything. I will post up tomorrow with the results after I've been to work, it's a straight 40 mile blast up the motorway. Quote
BigBruv Posted June 17, 2015 Author Posted June 17, 2015 Errr NO! That didn't work. Before I had even got into 6th gear on the motorway I'm back in limp mode. That's me stumped, does anyone have any more suggestions, Quote
paul.h Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 What are the fault codes ?If the additive is not working them maybe the dpf is blocked (some people remove it and water jet it to remove the ash), if a Lexia was used for the diagnostic you could check the dpf pressures and regeneration data. You probably do not want to go to a dealer but possibly a diagnostic check is needed rather than just reading fault codes if these are not giving the correct fix. Quote
BigBruv Posted June 18, 2015 Author Posted June 18, 2015 (edited) Can't remember what the codes were but it was, diesel additive system. Diesel additive level and turbo solinoid valve control. I know the additive level is ok as I had to transfer it to the New tank. And I know the pump is working ok. The dpf was a new one fitted last year as was the pressure sensor. coastline taxis Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Go back into special functions on the verdict and see if the car will let you do a forced regeneration. make sure that your cooling fan is working and that the timing belt isnt due for change and that the engine oil is good before doing it. if it wont alow it to regenerate the verdict will tell you the reason why. try both static and dynamic modes for the regenration Quote
BigBruv Posted June 18, 2015 Author Posted June 18, 2015 I can try tomorrow if i can beat the M25 traffic and get back from work before the brother in law shuts shop. Last time we tried that was when i had the blocked DPF and nearly melted the engine, temp shot up even with the cooling fan on, All lights came up saying stop and the verdict froze so couldnt stop the regen and had to switch off the ignition. If the regen goes ok what next.? What the turbo solinoid valve control fault about, ? Quote
gecko1001 Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Jeez I have bought my first diesel, A C*, never knew about Diesal addtive, maybe I should have to stuck to petrol cars as am i right that diesel additive done DIY. Quote
paul.h Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 You can put the additive in yourself but to reset any low additive messages requires the additive ecu counter to be reset with a diagnostic. On the C5 section people have said if there is additive in the tank it will continue to be dosed when the low level message is given, so the dpf will not block up so the ecu does not need to be reset.
