Randombloke Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Check that functioning DPF checks will not be part of the MOT from 2012 onwards. I heard a rumour, but that's all it is. Quote
PICASSOCONVERT Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Check that functioning DPF checks will not be part of the MOT from 2012 onwards. I heard a rumour, but that's all it is. Could this be for Euro 5 vehicles? Hope it doesn't apply retrospectively to older cars!! (70,000 miles and no DPF problems........yet, touch wood!!) David Quote
TheGoose Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Hi all members. Im new to the forum. Picked up my 2001 C5 2.2Hdi Exclusive, had it about 3 weeks now.. Occasionally I get the DPF message pop up. I want to smash the guts out of my Cat and DPF filter. Is there anyone on here who may be up for removing the DPF/CAT files from my ECU for me? I plan to get the car remapped aswell. But cant afford that rigt now. But I wouldnt mind sorting this DPF issue out. So if anyone out there can help me I would be most apprieciated :) Thanks Mike Quote
Norlander Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I'm new here as well, and was going to ask about the same thing..... Ours, bought last week, is a low-mileage 2002 C5 2.2Hdi SX automatic Estate. We're in Cumbria and wife collected it from near London, so her first real drive in it was quite a long one -- and she really, really likes our "new" motor. (was missing a Xantia 1.9TD estate that demised a couple of years ago; we still run a ZX td) The C5's particle filter and eolys fluid will soon have to get seen to....Are there any complications with filter removal plus re-mapping because of it being an auto gearbox? And any recommendations of best company to get the removal and re-map work done by? Quote
Old Mosher Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Hi all. I had a DPF removal and remap done a couple of months ago by a chap in Bedford. Good result took less than an hour. I would recommend it!Just one thing though. You can still find you get anti pollution faults that are not directly related to the DPF. I had a spate of limp mode events that turned out to be nothing more than two tiny splits in the rubber ends on the vacuum hoses. Other wise no problems at all. I did post it up some place on this forum, so if you dig around you should find more info about prices etc Quote
Norlander Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 If only Bedford wasn't so far south......So far, Ecu-Flash (Doncaster/Sheffield) seem to be the most promising from this end of the country.Anyone had work done there? (ecuflash.co.uk) Quote
PICASSOCONVERT Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 If only Bedford wasn't so far south......So far, Ecu-Flash (Doncaster/Sheffield) seem to be the most promising from this end of the country.Anyone had work done there? (ecuflash.co.uk) I took my daughter-in-laws's car to Sheffield earlier this year. It was booked in for 1pm and the job was supposed to take an hour or so. In the event they were busy and didn't finish till after 5pm just as they were closing, so I had no time to test drive the car afterwards. My impression was that the Sheffield garage was just a Bosch service centre not connected with ECU Flash as at one point they were waiting for the ECU remap files via the internet from ECU FLash. The car went like a rocket up the slip road onto the M1 - and then went back into limp mode. I suspect there was another fault on the car but as it was sold shortly afterwards I can draw no firm conclusions on ECU Flash. However, the Bedford man referred to earlier is near me so if my present 2.2 develops this fault I will probably use him. Quote
athers Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 im thinking of removing dfp filter from my 2.2 estate , now ive asked a mechanic but he says that hes read that the rear pressure sensor outlet (?) has to be modded with the nozzel from a mig welder , has anyone come across this or is he telling me porkies ? DaveHerns Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I'm in Worcester Park so we are nearly neighbours with the same car !Mine's on 77K so could be due to be done soonHave you changed your cambelt yet ? Quote
Johndouglas Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Have you changed your cambelt yet ? No - not yet. Earlier in the year I did the Saxo and 306 and have got all the kit for the C5 but haven't got around to doing the job. Guess it'll have to wait until the spring because I'm off to Spain in 10 days for the winter. Quote
DaveHerns Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Have a good time in Spain and when you've done your cambelt I'll pick your brains .Or can I come round and watch ? Quote
Johndouglas Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Have a good time in Spain Thanks - I hope so. Can't help but have mixed feelings about going. My wife died there last year. Quote
nonic38 Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Hello everyone, I am new to the site, can someone help me to get in touch with the person who does DPF removal in Bedford? I leave in Luton, Bedfordshire so it would be easy to get in touch with him. I have a C5 1.6 hdi 54 plate and the EML light is on since this morning and also it tells me Antipollution faulty. Thanks Quote
Johndouglas Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Hello & welcome to the forum. Since this topic was opened over 4 years ago rules have changed. It is now illegal to remove a particle filter and at MOT if the filter is missing, the car will fail the test. Also your insurance will be void since you will not have told your insurer about the modification. The fact that your EM light is on may not be down to a blocked particle filter. Even a blast down a motorway for a few miles might clear it. Get the fault codes read and come back and tell us what they are. Quote
nonic38 Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Thanks for the quick response, I will try to see if a blast on the motorway helps. I didn't mention the fact that for the past 6-7 days the car seemed to lose power, with hesitation under load, very noticeable when going up a hill. Since the light came on it drives better if anything which puzzles me. Quote
Johndouglas Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 When was the last time the fuel filter was changed? Also have a read of this topic - http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/21018-dpf-heres-the-start-of-it/Especially read the posts written by Coastline - our own MOT guru... Rooky1 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 You can get around the dpf removal issue on mot by keeping the empty dpf box on and making the welds not visible by the inspector if he can see the dpf.. Otherwise it won't show up on mot ;) Quote
paul.h Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 nonic38,If the eml has come on then the car may now be in limp mode to allow the car to still run which could explain why it seems to be running better. Since the fault could be anything that has an effect on the emissions, then the fault codes should be read to see what the cause may be. Just a comment on dpf removal. Even if the MOT inspector is fooled on the day of the inspection, it is still illegal and the insurance may not be valid if there is a claim. We did have a member whose car failed the MOT after dpf removal but we are still waiting for feedback. Quote
