coastline taxis Posted January 8, 2011 Author Posted January 8, 2011 Ha ha ha all the best to you. Was hoping that someone would say ok your getting 40 to the gallon etc etc.Going to show me ignorance but im really confused trying to work it out Just dont get how to do it ha ha Quote
Johndouglas Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 I reckon Steve that you've included the price of a slap up meal on the boat - both ways - otherwise the figures don't add up. £95 at say £1.28p ltr. would buy 74 litres.110 Euros at .80p ltr (Holland price) would buy 137 litresThat's a total of 211 litres which equal around 46 gallons. To use 46galls over 900 miles means you're only getting around 20mpg which can't be right. Johndouglas Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 110 euro at 80p? need to divide by the euro price, or did you mean 80 cents? Forgot to convert 110 Euros to GBP at .85p. :) Also just checked the current price of gasoil - it's around a quid per litre. So that line should read:-110 Euros at £1 per ltr (Holland price) would buy 93.5 litres.Redoing the sums still make it only 24mpg for the journey. Quote
paul.h Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 In the calcs it has been assumed the tank was full at the start, 900 miles have been driven and the tank is full now after 900 miles and using about 170 litres giving about 24 mpg. But if it was empty at the start and now full then maybe the answer is hopefully about 50 mpg (about 11 miles per litre). Just to clear it up, Steve, did you start with a full tank, drive south, put in £95 of diesel, drive further and now at 900 miles and then put in 110 euros of diesel and now have a full tank ready for the return. Or is it a petrol car and you have thrashed it ? Quote

No - if the tank was empty at start, full at end, that would take 55 litres out of the calculation. 900 miles on (167.5-55) 112.5 litres is 8 mpl or 36mpg. Must have spent some of those euro on weed! coastline taxis Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 ha ha left shields with a full tank then filled up outside of dover and the misses paid. just getting the reciept of her and take a tenner fo for tabs and pop (going to keep a closer eye on her), Next fill was in spijkinesse just past rotterdam and was 115 litres at 130 a litre, so i arived with a full tank. Coming back was a fill up at ferry terminal at france 120 euros and a fill up at white mare pool £91 .I just really really cant work it out Quote
seefive Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Next fill was in spijkinesse just past rotterdam and was 115 litres at 130 a litre, so i arived with a full tank. something wrong here. C5 tank can't take 115 litres if you mean 115 euro at 1.3, that's 88 litres, still too much for a c5. When I'm filling up with the warning light on, I get about 55 litres in Quote
coastline taxis Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 Now you come to mention it i havnet a clue how much a c5 tank holds. For some reason i thought they were like a 406 and have 2 tank sizes. Going to get the receipts out, Just checked the milage display and its saying 35 to the gallon which isnt that good as there were only 2 of us and 4 bags in the car average speed was 80ish. Quote
DaveHerns Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Average speed 80 mph ? That would mean you were tonning it !! No wonder your mpg isn't too good Quote
coastline taxis Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 eeee thats a terible slur on my good characater as a driver mr herns ha ha. I never ever ever speed through france but yes i was doing mostly a hundred across belgium and holland. They dont mind you speeding in these countrys i know this for a fact as when i got caught last year the police kept saying speeding fine speeding fine ha ha Quote
paul.h Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 mark 1 handbook gives the diesel tank as approx 68 litres and petrol tank as approx 66 litres with low level light at about 6 litres. Quote
