I would visit your Citroen dealer and let them have a look at it since the warranty should cover it and if you tried to do a fix and messed something up, then they could find a way out of the warranty.

I would first check there are no carpets or mats catching on/under the pedal, then try to push the pedal down by hand (with the engine switched off) to see if it moves smoothly - if not then it may need replacing. A new one for our petrol C3 was £52 2 years ago. The accelerator pedal is an electric one and over time the electrics inside can wear so that it may not accelerate smoothly as it is gradually pushed down - we had to replace the one on our petrol C3 since it was making it difficult to set off. It only takes a few minutes to replace, is held by 2 or 3 nuts and has an electrical connector. If you need to pay a dealer to check/replace it, then the labour charge should be minimal.

What is the problem with the blower - is it not working or only working on one speed - if so the resistor pack is probably in need of replacing. According to the Haynes manual for the C4, the resistor is located below the heater blower motor, in the top left hand side of the heater housing, at the top right of the front passenger footwell. To reach it the trim panel under the glovebox needs removing, the wiring connector to be disconnected and then the resistor to be turned anti clockwise to release it. I have moved this topic and your other one in to the C4 section since the Members Cars section is for members to provide details and photos of their cars. If you post in that section it is likely your posts will not be read by other members and could limit the number of replies.

First questions: - what speed are you doing at these fuel consumptions ? - is the gearbox a manual or auto ? - do you reset the trip computer before doing the test ? This is so that it is not giving an average of all the previous trips which might include a lot of stop/start driving round town. It is reset by holding in the button on the end of the wiper stalk. The Haynes manual for the C4 gives the following possibilities for high fuel consumption: - air filter dirty or clogged - engine management system fault - faulty fuel injectors - tyres under inflated - brakes binding

Posted on behalf of c4_man. I need some help with my c4. Last week I have noticed that fuel consumption is pretty high. When driving on pretty flat road with cruise on, then on board computer shows 10-11 l/100 km (= 28.4 - 25.8 mpg). Before that it was around 9 l/100 km (= 31.6 mpg), but this is also a lot. I replaced air filter and spark plugs. What else to check? No fault codes present. The car is a 2005 C4 1.6 litre 80kW (110 hp) non VTi petrol engine.

Diesel works by compressing the gas/vapour until it gets hot enough to auto ignite. An internet search on auto ignition temperatures (AIT) gave 'For common hydrocarbon fuels, the minimum AIT ranges between 600C (1350 F) for methane (CH4) to 200C (472F) for dodecane (C12H26)' - so possibly you may need to compress methane (natural gas) to higher pressures than diesel to auto ignite. This link gives a quick summary of what is needed to change a diesel engine in to a methane one. The fuel injector is replaced with a spark plug. http://www.afsglobal.com/faq/diesel-to-natural-gas-conversion.html I would think though if you are going to spend many 100s or 1000s of pounds on a conversion of an approx 10 year old car, you would be better off just buying another one. You would also need to consider where you could fill up with CNG and plan any trips around this since I would think the range on a tank of CNG will be a lot less than a tank of diesel, unless you could compress it enough or refrigerate it to condense it to liquid. Insurance might also be difficult to get.

The Citroen part no. for the boot liner seems to be 7568HA. This is available from a Citroen dealer and from citroencarparts.net is £90.65 It may be standard on exclusive models if you are trying scrap yards for one. Also for cars fitted with one, the boot side panels are different to ones where only the carpet is fitted.

Welcome to the forum. If by service light you mean the engine management light, then a fault code will be stored that can be read and should give a good indication on what is wrong.

Before we started with Citroens we had various makes and a few Saabs. I have found Citroen parts prices reasonable compared to others but most of all the Citroens have been reliable so maintenance costs and my time fixing them have been minimal. The Citroens have all been lower mileage which may help and they do not seem to rust. If you look at older Fords, BMWs and some Mercs, the body work can be rusting away.

A Haynes manual for the 2002 Xsara Picasso gives the steering fluid first mentioned by John ie Dexron type 11 ATF. Some other manuals for later cars (not the Picasso) give Total Fluide DA. So including the Total Fluide ATX there are 3 possibilities for the fluid. Generally though, hydraulic fluids are thin and not thick (viscous). If you go to your Citroen dealer they will supply the correct fluid for your car, never mind what all the other garages are saying and if you find you have the wrong fluid in it may be worth replacing it to avoid possible damage to any seals in the steering rack. The failure to diagnose the source of the noise could be down to insufficient checks before replacing any parts. People often do not use a Citroen dealer due to higher labour rates but they know the cars, any common problems, will use the correct parts and fluids - all of which can work out cheaper in the long run.

If not the alternator pulley then maybe another pulley on the aux belt needs replacing. If you remove the aux belt again then spin all the pulleys and listen for any noise and move by hand and feel for any play or roughness in the bearings. If your car is a petrol one then you could clean the throttle plate and body of any carbon build up which could be affecting the idling speed and causing the cutting out. Also if the air filter is due for replacing this may not help.

Welcome to the forum. The Haynes manual does not show any fuses for the indicators but a direct feed from the engine fusebox to each one. So if the bulb has not blown you should check the wiring and earth point for that light. A look in a handbook for a 2006 to 2008 C4 also does not list a fuse for the indicators. I will later move this topic to the C4 section so it is not lost amongst the members cars posts.

Looking at a photo of the footwell in our old 2004 C5 2.2 hdi when it was 2 years old and about 16k miles and the clutch pedal is the highest, followed by the brake pedal and the accelerator one is a lot lower.

Welcome to the forum. On the C5 Technical section there is a pinned topic on Common Problems that is worth looking at. On the C5 (X7) model they seem to be prone to steering rack oil leaks and this is mentioned.

If you have the hydractive suspension, Total LDS (liquide-direction-suspension) is the correct fluid and from GSF is £10.39 a litre http://www.gsfcarparts.com/980aa0720 With coil springs/shock absorbers suspension the French RTA manual for the C5 (X7) gives Total Fluide DA for the power steering.

The 2008 on C5 (X7) was completely new and bears no resemblance to the previous C5 so possibly an excuse for problems on these early cars until they were designed out.
