  1. the washer tank connection Should have read washer pump connection. The washer pump has 2 outlets, 1 to the front and 1 to the rear wipers but only 1 inlet from the tank. So the pump outlet to the rear wiper or its piping could be blocked. I will add this to the common problems list since it has appeared before.
  2. Welcome to the forum. Any info on your car ?
  3. Depending on the above checks and if the cap was on tight, then take it off and give it a clean in case dirt is stopping it sealing (or check when the engine is warm, just undo the cap very slightly to see if there is an escape of gas showing it is sealing and then do it back up). If none of these, then probably you need a new one although it does seem odd it would fail during a water pump change. Also does the engine fan come on when the engine gets hot ? - test by letting the engine run whilst stationary, although this check is usually done when the coolant has been replaced. This is to check the engine temp sensor and fan are ok, having had a car that were not ok and the tank cap released the boiling coolant when it overheated.
  4. If the heater flap motors need replacing, they were about £60 a couple of years ago and there is one for each side (assuming you have separate temperature control for both sides of the car). The passenger side is easiest to replace being located a bit in front of the cabin filter. The driver side one is still a diy job but access is awkward. A rattle/knock on our C3 was the anti roll bar drop link (coupling) so agree with Randombloke to check this.
  5. Welcome to the forum. Definately take the car back to the dealer and phone as soon as you can before doing so. The engine light coming on could be anything to do with the engine and only a diagnostic check will tell you what it could be. It is unlikely to go on its own without the fault being repaired and depending on what it is could cost a few £100 for the parts. If the temperature has 6 bars max then it is probably like our C3, that would normally be on 3 bars when warmed up and sometimes the second bar and third would light up together. If so, this is probably normal and nothing to do with the engine light. If the second bar does not light at all, then this needs looking at. Make sure everything else on the car works asap since a 1 month warranty is not long.
  6. Welcome to the forum. The mushroom is probably the sphere and unless it has a hole in it, I would guess it is the joint that is leaking so probably may just need a new seal, or maybe the pipe is leaking. If it is leaking around the rubber gaiter and from the plastic vent pipe from it into the axle, then the strut may need replacing. Although new strut seals are available, to guarantee the repair a new strut would be fitted. A new strut and the LDS fluid may be about £150. Your best option is to take it to a dealer or Citroen specialist. The repair will only be about 1 hour but to remove the sphere needs a special tool which may be half the labour cost if you do the repair yourself. If you go under the car to investigate the leak, make sure you use axle stands. If the suspension height sensor is knocked, the suspension may drop to a low level.
  7. The washer problem is possibly the washer tank connection or piping to the rear wiper or maybe the washer jet is blocked with muck. So though the pump is running in reverse, the only outlet is to the front wipers.
  8. Thanks for that, we all appreciate it.
  9. The car handbook tells you how to twin the phone to the car. If it is the latest model of C5, if you do not have the handbook you can see it on the service.citroen website documentation de bord, select language then your car. Look under audio equipment then bluetooth. It says to have the car ignition on but engine not running, bluetooth selected on the phone, select Citroen on it and enter a validation code 1234. There are some other bits to it.
  10. You can see and print pages (right mouse click is easiest way) from the manual on the service.citroen website, documentation de bord, select language, then your car. It may not go back as far as 2006 but should still be good enough. If you want to see parts diagrams, register as another professional, member of this site. You can also purchase procedures but it is less costly to buy the Citroen manuals on dvd from such as ebay. If you are ok with French, there is a workshop manual similar to Haynes, Review Technique Automobile available from Amazon but it only covers 1.6 petrol and 1.6 diesel and another for 1.4 petrol.
  11. Welcome to the forum. The sidelights are the cloudy strips at the top of the headlight glass. The handbook should say how to replace the bulbs but it looks as if at the back of the light there is a white bulb holder above the main beam bulb cover. It might twist or pull out and looks as if the bulb is a 5w capless type.
  12. Welcome to the forum. I am not familier with the Pluriel but had a look at the Citroen procedures (these can be bought on dvd from such as ebay) and it says to remove the damper (they seem to call it a folding roof cassette balancer) the folding roof arches have to be removed and then the damper is just unclipped at both ends - looks to be similar to a normal tailgate damper from a hatchback or estate. So it may just need clipping back in but will need to be compressed for the lower end to clip back. The procedure is below but will not include the pictures unless you have the dvd. If you register on the service.citroen website as another professional, member of this forum, you can see the parts diagrams. Replacement : Folding roof cassette balancerC5DH0HP0 Replacement : Folding roof cassette balancer ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations (refer to the brochure: "RECOMMENDATIONS - PRECAUTIONS").1. 13. Welcome to the forum. Your car looks good, which engine is it ?
  14. The coolant temp sensor is probably faulty, about £20 for a new one. First though check if the sensor electrical connector is clean and the wiring is ok. There have been similar reports of the temp going high and after checks and thermostat replacement it has been the sensor. If you have a code reader that does live data it will give the temp from the sensor so you can check it. A few of us on here have fitted our own towbars and as far as I can remember, all have used a relay with a fused supply taken from the battery. If you do run a wire from the battery, run 2 so later you can fit the 12S or 13 pin electrics for a caravan since the C5 is an excellent towcar. When I did our previous mark 1 C5, I ran the wires through the wiring grommet in the bulkhead and down the inside of the car left sill - however, this took some effort. Others have run the wiring under the car. If you search the forum you should find details.
  15. It is at the front on the 138hp engine, to the gearbox end and goes into the sump, so should be seen just below the sump/block joint. On the 110 hp engine it is at the back of the engine.
  16. Just had a look at the members list on the Picasso forum and if you are applecrumble, applecrumble2, applecrumble3 as well, then mention this so the extra names can be deleted.
  17. Bill196510, welcome to the forum. If you have a problem with your car, post it here (or better to start a new post on the C5 pages) and we will try to help. I do not know which wires would be involved but the above posts show the wire cutting quick fix did not work and possibly ended up costing far more than the initial problem to fix and could not be recommended.
  18. Welcome to the forum. There has been a problem recently with a lot of spam so there may have been delays for new members. You could send a message to our administrator GTEUK who also looks after the Picasso forum. Also as a new member on the Picasso forum you have to (copied from the new member intro): As a new member you will notice some restrictions, these are here to verify that you are human and not going to spam the site. At present you need to reply to one thread to get full member status, Simply reply to this topic, tell us a bit about yourself and hey presto you will have more access to the site. Do not simply say "hello" as this will be removed and your rank will be demoted again. I hope you all enjoy this site and you have fun here Cheers Site Admin
  19. Just noticed jefflad has Newcastle as his location - looks as if you could have a new customer, South Shields is not too far away.
  20. I am not a legal expert, but there is a verbal contract, even if not noted on the sales contract, so the repair should be done unless you agree otherwise. On BBC Watchdog last night there was a case involving a verbal contract and it was upheld. If they insist on not doing the repair, they have broken their side of the contract so you should be able to agree a lower price or to decline the car and get your deposit back - I hope you have not paid the full amount yet. It may be worthwhile getting an idea of the cost of the repair to help negotiate a lower price - if they could not repair the existing bumper then a new/secondhand one is needed.
  21. The Citroen parts diagrams do not list any seals for the latest C5 but do for earlier models where the pipes join the rack and pump. Maybe these will fit or the dealers have a supply since the procedures for the latest C5 mention replacing the pipe seals at the rack. The ebay ones look good value.
  22. It could be a problem with the immobiliser transponder aerial which sits around the ignition barrel. You could try the spare key to help eliminate the immobiliser chip in the key. I suspect the key remote initialisation procedure you are doing is only for the alarm/central locking receiver and not the immobiliser and if so, it may not be giving you the quick fix you think you are getting.
  23. Just a few guesses on what may cause smoke - injector seal leak, loose injector, fuel leak, manifold leak, oil/coolant leak onto something hot, exhaust leak.
  24. Sat nav SD cards can be bought from a Citroen dealer based on this link for £129 http://www.navigation.com/C5-2010-MyWay/citroen-eu/catalog/en_GB/GBP/ It looks as if the Navteq map data though is from 2011 if you look at the In the box tabs.
  25. :) seefive, after you have done a few thousand miles a report would be nice for the jealous ones amongst us. Also, if you would be kind enough to fit a towbar and tow a caravan to see how it performs since towing is a requirement for many of us. Our last few cars have all been diesels and I prefer them to petrol - better fuel economy/lower tax/less gear changes but when filling up you need to wipe it off your hands. The comment on smaller windows applies to a lot of cars now, must be the latest designers' idea. Our C4 is like this and with its new design of large headrests, teardrop shape door mirrors and tinted rear windows makes all round visibility difficult. I have to be careful at junctions and motorway lane changing and early on had a couple of near misses.
