I'd agree with Allan, but would add that there is a French manual that covers the 2.2, IME worth buying, and that the pot is in the same place as the 2.0, and the adjustment can be visually checked without having to disassemble things, if you have someone to help with taking the pedal to the floor whilst you observe in the engine bay. Common problem with the 2.2, IME. It's still a pain to adjust.

Check if the display for the fan when it's on auto shows the fan as working flat out. If so, no worries, it's very noisy. If the fan is not at full speed (that is, not all fans segments dark in the LCD display) then maybe a flap is jamming.

Maybe you need to check some of these links, then: BBA Reman Citroen section C5 suspension pump - ask for quote

In my owner's manual it says that Citroen can do it if the car is hooked up to their computer, it can be turned off along with the rain detector that shuts the sunroof and windows when it rains automatically.

Trip/mpg Computer Doesnt Appear To Work
Randombloke replied to 16v205's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
I have a faulty COMM 2000 unit with and air bag warning but the wiper stalk is 100% AFAIK. If you want I can see if I can remove the stalk, if so I can post it to you if you want. -
It depends on which version it is and if the display is colour or black and white. Does it have a small one or two line black and white display or a big colour one?

C5 - High Pressure In Steering Pipes
Randombloke replied to a topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
I think there is some confusion here. Unlike older Citroëns, the C5 hydraulic pump and the power steering are completely separate. The hydraulic pump is electric. The power steering pump runs off the engine via an auxiliary belt. Yes, I've checked in the manuals. -
Yes, the current C5 was either a 407 with a set of different clothes, or the beta version of the 508. Off topic - a 5 series Peugeot! Last seen in the 505 from the late 70s/early 80s.

We also have the detailed instructions for fixing this fault on this forum but because people never search and always start a new thread we actually have the same faults fixed and replied to several times over. We need a moderator for this forum to merge threads when they are about the same fault, so all the expertise ends up in the same place not scattered all over the forum.

I'm going to suggest that the drain from the system is blocked. Worth looking for this and checking it out. I asked my local indy to check the drain when I had a couple of flaps replaced with the passenger aircon very hot fault, and they also offered an ultrasonic clean for £19.95. The air con smelt very pleasant for 2 days afterwards and the smell has not returned. If the air con drain is blocked then there will be no drips of water under the car when the air con is running on a hot or humid day.

It might be an idea to disconnect and remove the switch and test it with a multimeter. Where is the pinging sound from? The car or the switch?

Post them here anyway.

Mine has 215/55 16 tyres and I use 2.5 bar all round except when out with a load where I run the rears up to 3.0 and fronts up to 2.7 bar. I get high 30s to low 40s if town driving is involved, and up to 45 on runs where I stay below 75mph on the French motorways. Staying below 65 mph makes a big difference, and a mixture of 50 to 60mph will improve things even further. I've now done about 2,000 miles since the last pad change and will check the drag again soon.

Yes, this sounds like the swirl control valve and would give an ESP/ASR and Anti Pollution Fault. I've had the same fault.

Look for an air leak on the inlet side of the engine? Yes, but whereabouts in the UK are you? No idea if the suggestions would be any use.

Trip/mpg Computer Doesnt Appear To Work
Randombloke replied to 16v205's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
Is it colour or black and white, your display? -
Jack up the car and check the drag on the front brakes. It's possible to get this to be almost as little as the rear brakes. This makes an enormous amount of difference to fuel economy. It can also cost almost nothing. You may need the piston tool to wind the pistons back to get the calipers back over the pads. I have made sure that my front brakes are as light as possible on drag and have been rewarded by another 5 mpg. Also, make sure that the anti rattle springs are not making the pads jam slightly - they need to be only strong enough to stop the pads moving in the holders, no more, IMV. If you want to re-map some people here have used Superchips. Personally I'd worry about gearbox and clutch life. Maybe do a search on Superchips.

I didn't think the newer ones needed the nuber entered each time. Any way, it only lasts for a year and is about £30 + VAT to renew. If you go to http://www.trafficmaster.net/login.asp and click on the Oracle/Freeway renew button, all should be explained. Keepn a record of the PIN you get in case it does forget. However, normally Trafficmaster doesn't make a lot of noise so sometimes this is a warning that the battery is getting tired. If you press the Trafficmaster button twice you can flip through the modes and choose manual mode which means it only talks when you press the button. If you press the button 3 times you can adjust the volume, so you can pick level 0 or 1 and then ignore it. Please can a mod or admin look at this thread - Firefox is unable to display any posts beyong the second one from kfk.

Sometimes you get this sort of fault when the thick lead that goes from the battery to the starter motor solenoid becomes a bit iffy, or has a less than ideal joint. I would consider replacing the lead that does this run, or bridging it out with another similar lead. I solved a similar problem on another car with this once. Also check the quality of the earth lead - you may decide to get a quality volt meter and see if you can measure any voltage between the negative battery terminal and the body of the vehicle. Any voltage measured between battery and vehicle means there is a high resistance joint somewhere that needs a scrub or a lead replaced. John got there first with the thing that's most sensible to do.

I'm a fan of Marshal Matrac XMs, made by Kumho. They are about £80 to 85 all in (fitted inc VAT) in the size you mention, I've had them on a 2.2 Estate for a while. There are some reviews on them, but for me I find them long lasting with good grip. 22,000 miles and about 2/3rds worn on the fronts. I think you can get then them from Black Circles on t'Internet and specify a fitter locally.

Hi John, That's a Mk2 C5 whereas I think 2003 should be a Mk1? I agree with you about this but I am not prepared to risk running into a policeman abroad who does not know this.

I replaced the locking wheel wheel nuts on my C5 with non locking ones. I bought 4 for £6. Mid Kent Vehicle Services 01622 794499.
