  1. Motorway driving 4 hours? How much do you get on a full tank? In your opinion how many miles do you regard as a proper "running in"

    My C3

    You are one miserable ***oops***.
  3. I drive a C3 but I know a few who drive a C5 and they say for the money its great . The space and the deal you get is second to none. Yes there were a few niggles amongst those who drove year 2001 models but the ones who drive later models are fine. Make a shortlist and if the C5 is on it then try it and whatever you choose then allow yerself to decide. Yes the model gets berated in mags like Autow*nkess and Wa*k Car compared to say........ Toyota/Honda/BMW who can't seem to do anything wrong and I completely agree with Alan that you dont have to sleep in the same bed as any car maker.....so you can tell the truth. The winner in the JD power survey was a HONDA LOGO. How many Logos do you see on Britains roads? Next is the SMART CAR! PAH However I am not suprised Fiat, Peugeot, VW and Land Rover did so naff. JD surveyed 25000 (?) owners. Now is that representative of the nation where I am sure driving licence holder numbers are greater than this..... I had problems with my C3 but thankfully its sorted. My experiences don;t mean that all C3's are like this. I shortlisted cars that on paper did better than the C3 in loads of tests but I ignored them after teasting each out and got the C3. Cars I tried: Clio, Ibiza, Micra, 206, Polo, Jazz and C3. A what car verdict will probably place them in this order with the highest first. Ibiza, Polo, Jazz, Micra, Clio, C3 and 206 My verdict was C3, Ibiza, Clio, Jazz, 206, Polo. its you who pays your money. I wouldn't go the C5 but you may! Would any manufacturer give you 3.5 k off a new car?

    My C3

Mr T Even though banking has nothing to do with this forum, its influenced whether or not I replace my C3 which certainly has something to do with this forum so why you ask? You ignore the problems I have with my locks and oil gauge. If you had problems like myself and Mooseshaver had then you would understand so enjoy your car whilst it still works. By the way, Mooseshaver's is an HDi SX... just like yours. I am glad my problems are mostly over. Enjoy the motoring and keep us posted with your cruise control request.
  6. Madman. I understand what you are saying but if Cruise control was not on the options list then don't consider it. It's an item best installed at the factory. Citroen would not okay such an aftermarket fitment. I asked a manager about this back in October. New steering wheel plus controls, additional wiring and maybe even a new airbag, its not worth the expense if you use Citroen and certainly not safe if you use an alternative company. Even the fitment of certain stereo systems can influence how the Engine Management works. Ditch the SX and get an Exclusive. You compare VW with Citroen..... they're a different gravy entirely. For example they are naff compared to sh*t. Anyway Britains roads are too congested to make the best use of it but then again its one of the reasons why I bought my HDi Exclusive.

    My C3

First weekend with the bas*ard and all seems well. Cruise control works and power delivery seems normal. Only things are the childlocks dont permanently stay on and the oil level gauge is useless. I would change the car but unfortunately my bank account has been hacked since April 25th and there have been cash till withdrawals in which I cannot account for even tho my switch card has been in my possession hidden away for 4 weeks in order to build up the account so whats been going on? The bank are investigating this. One problem leads to another.
  8. HYAHHYAHHYAH Okay. The plan would have been to buy yout tape player so I can play my own recordings and use the Blaupunkt (which I was gonna gonna nick from Citroen Manchester) to play pre recorded garbage. However the CD player costs £380 including fitting. I have a Sony Minidisc in car player in the house doing nothing. If I fit this along with a Sony 6 disc player in the boot it costs less than half including fitting and will probably sound miles better. Maybe I'll just leave it.
  9. Look, insist on a morning with a senior technician otherwise you may wait for 6 unecessary weeks then find out the EGR was not the problem......... which is what happened to me. To the answer to your question, it took me 11 weeks to get it sorted. Pathetic.
  10. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DONT DO IT. Cruise control involves the addition of switches in the pedals and alterations in the fuel supply systems. Its a feature best fitted when the car is being made in the factory. Citroen and all other manufacturers do not recommend a retro fit of cruise control systems to their cars. Its too complex and fraught with danger. Some companies offer this feature but I will not tell you who they are as myself nor Citroen will not be held responsible if things cock up. It wil invalidate your warranty and you will be up sh*t creek Sell your SX for an Exclusive if it means so much. I have an example: I had a 1995 Pug 306 D Turbo which I acquired second hand in 1996. SUmmer of 97 was very hot and wanted to have air con (a feature standard in them models from 1996 onwards). I phoned Peugeot asking about a retro fit. They said £3000 using Peugeot parts or £1500 otherwise but it would be much safer if I bought a new car.
  11. I am having this problem and that can have serious safety aspects. Sometimes the car retains the setting, sometimes it does not. It is ******* irritating I was told the ECU that deals with these dashboard items are succeptible to spikes thus resetting them.
  12. C3PO. Mate, do you wanna swap your tape player for my CD single unit??
  13. "Oh, and my C3 needs a second EGR valve. And Citroen have decided to replace my dash display to get the oil guage working" Remember Ben about my EGR? It took 5 weeks to arrive only to find out that it was not the cause of the problem even after umpteen visits? Insist on having a morning with a senior technician and go on a road test with him armed with the ECU laptop. There he can suss out any problems whilst you are driving.
  14. The blaupunkt unit, it it any good? Or shall I ask for something else in my claim for compensation?
  15. During my time at the Citroen Dealer, I found out a few home truths Citroen dealers are grossly understaffed. Also the batch of YTS folk posing as mechanics are underskilled and utterly useless and would not know which way a battery would go in a torch. Also known that because of the highly techical nature of the cars, there is not enough time and resources to train these people to cope with the extra technology. Hooray. I saw these young experts repairing cars in the service bay and I am telling you that your investment is at risk when it comes forra service. Also very little gets done because everyone is in each others way. The days of mechanical problems will soon be overtaken electrical problems and no one wil be skilled to sort it out. Those who are in the know will charge a hefty premium. Air con and ECU problems will explode. Totally pony arrangement. My car is fine but I am still livid.
  16. YOU SEE BEN.... ITS ALL LIES LIES LIES LIES AND MORE LIES. A GARAGE THAT FITS PARTS INCORRECTLY IS TOTALLY UNFORGIVEABLE. STIL IN 2 MINDS WHETHER TO CHANGE MY CAR. ILL GIVE IT TIL 30TH JUNE WHEN THE 0% FINANCE ON SKODA OFFER ENDS. OCTAVIA ESTATE AMBIENTE TDI NEARLY HAD MY NAME ON IT TODAY. MY C3 WILL FCUK UP NO DOUBT. KNOWING MY LUCK IT WIL HAPPEN ON JULY 1. Excuse the caps lock.
  17. In some ways I am happy but in many instances, I am fecking livid. Booked the morning with a senior technician who I took for a ride with a Lexia Engine Management hooked up to the ECU. At first the fella tried to contradict my list of problems then he noticed that the software was detecting that the clutch was permanently engaged which can play havoc with the Engine management and things like power steering etc can play up. He suggested a clkutch switch was a problem, I told him that one was instaled two months ago on March 5th. Between March 5th and May 13th I have been to the dealer 9 times with engine power problems and cruise control failure. Everytime I went they said nothin was wrong. A faulty EGR and COM 2000 ECU was ordered and instaled during that time with the former taking 5 weeks to arrive. These instalattions did not solve the problem. What I am pissed off is that the cause of the problem was the incorrect fitting of the part 2 months ago and nothing was done/ detected in my numerous visits after that. The car worked like clockwork after another road test with the technician. I asked for a new oil level gauge sensor. I summoned the service manager I told him that I have been a victim of shoddy workmanship and how I have lost my confidence in the brand as well as earnings because I had to take time off to take the cnut in. He agreed about the quality of work. I told him that had problem not been fixed today I would have gone to a dealership and buy a skoda. I said that If I am gonna show confidence in my car by keeping it then I should have some goodwill coming my way, I asked for 1) Free servicing for life 2) Dashboard multi player 3) Chrome dash kit. He wil speak to his boss. He said what I am asking for costs a grand but I retorted saying I have lost nearly that in earnings alone not to mention inconveinience and anger management. Now the car is working like clockwork, should I keep it? What shall I do? You can understand my confusion.
  18. I have had problems, plenty of them, that are still on going after 10 weeks. Tell us your problems. I have contacted Trading Standards and issued a complaint against Citroen UK for being w*nk. I have threatened C UK with promises of sending articles to What Car/ Autoexpress.
  19. Been promised a technician on Tuesday for a road test with me. What have they been doing on the previous 8 occasions I left my car there? They reckon it will be nipped inthe bud. After 9 feckin weeks I should hope so. Complained to Trading Standards in Slough over Citroen and they have filed a complaint. Spoke to Citroen UK and say they are gonna reply to my letter. They rang me to say that my trip on Tuesday should be my last one ie the matter wil be solved. Ha ha ha. Really? Cr*p citroen. Muppets.
  20. Either way there is no excuse to fit a car to the roof with gadgetry when no one understand how they work and how to get them fixed. It really is a joke.
  21. Yes the fella is right. A car is still a bit (clears throat) tight and wil not deliver decent fuel consumption figures until after its first service at the very earliest. My car (piece of turd) gave 55 at first. 6 months on, I get 61. First service is due in 2500 miles time. The 65.7 mpg figure is within my grasp but hopefully I wil be shot of the car by then because its a pony make.
  22. The New C3 - Another happy customer. What's the prize? A new C3? You can keep it.
  23. The car is not right still. I have had enough.
  24. Its another example of poor quality control at Citroen. You got the chilled glovebox (nice one) and I got a car with a dud engine. To this date, I have found little use for the chilled golvebox as its too small to store things like 1) leg of lamb 2) a whole halibut 3) Gavin Hill from Customer Services at Citroen UK (W*NKER) Whatever did we do to the French for them to hate us so much? Keep us posted. You may find your car has been fitted with a c5 3 litre V6.
  25. I really hope this is the final time I go before its first 12,500 mile service or else I am off. Everyone at the dealer seems convinced my car will finally be sorted. Well let me tell you the length of time I have had to live through since I first had this problem. 8 WEEKS 5 VISITS. Rubbish! No confidence whatsoever.
