  1. Chuck your UK post codes in here and get the Co-ordinates. Then you'll be able to find your destination without resorting to a portable! What a shame Citroen only allow partial post codes , in a nav system which is otherwise excellent! http://www.map-gps-coordinates.com/
  2. Hi Paul This is a Mk3, and pressure information is available on demand via the "check " button. If nothing's coming up on the interface screen, there's something else wrong/disabled. Citroen dealer should be able to sort this, probably not a job for a non-franchised garage
  3. I don't think a vtr will have a sim card slot, although I may be wrong. My old mk2 had the TEL button, which meant it was compatible with a fully fitted car kit (parrot etc) Earlier RD4 radios did not have the word TEL on that button - it was used for something else, and the radio would not inetgrate with a phone kit
  4. Snap! I have a 13 plate exclusive technopack 160 manual in Nera Black, with the mad Citroen Adriatic 19 inch wheels, as seen in the current brochure. Like yours, it looks the business, although being black it's very difficult to keep clean. I had the autodab digital radio conversion fitted by Citroen, upgraded the aerial and it works like a dream. I park amongst a line of fairly dreary BMW's etc at work, and the Citroen certainly stands out as the most styish car.. Why's it called X7?
  5. The UK adoption of this is a mess. From November 12, all new cars were supposed to have TPMS, but there was no obligation on the manufacturers to fit them. What this means I have no idea.- compulsory aftermarket item? The MOT rules seem to be that TPMS is only a fail point on cars that were obliged to have them - so, from November 2015 Who knows??
  6. this will be an MOT fail from 2016
  7. while you are waiting to fix it, you may want to drive on sidelights - this stops the problem
  8. When you press the check button, you should see in your driver interface screen (middle of the speedo) the car graphic with tyres dispayed with "OK" messages (or possibly low pressure, but this would have been preceded by an unsolicited warning) then miles left to service then "no faults" ( or a fault log, presumably) (this is based on my 2013 exclusive technopack with colour screen) Do you get any of these displays? If not, it would indicate some kind of self-diagnostic problem, rather than a Tyre monitor problem
  9. The interior will decide it. Mk1's have green illumination with a separate display for the climate control. Mk2 has no separate display, and orange ilimunation. Certainly looks like a Mk1 from the photograph
  10. Not sure if this topic is still live, but anyway.. You need to pair your phone with the radio. You will find this under the phone menu/ bluetooth functions. I am basing this on my own experience with a 2013 c5 with sat nav, but I suspect yours is set up the same, otherwise you woudn't have a phone button on the steering wheel. Input matching codes on the radio and the phone when prompted.
  11. Just a footnote to this. Autodab is now working. The replacement remote control needed to be "paired" wth the tuner. Connects2 tech support were very helpful and professional So all good, and enjoying the "aussie bashing" on Radio 5SX!
  12. Cresta soft drinks - back to the 70's (showing my age)
  13. Hi Just got a prereg 13 plate c5 exclusive techno pack and came across a couple of issues on the ICE font. My previous car (mk 2 C5) had an MP3 compatible disc player, as does the new one. When I played my old discs in the new car, some albums mysteriously disappeared. After much pulling out of hair, I eventually realised than anything with a dot in the title (album or artist) was being ignored. - so "Sergeant Pepper" was being ignored because it was tagged as "Sgt.Pepper's lonely hearts club band" - file format "Pepper's lonely hearts club band" not found! So I'm working through my collection of MP3 discs hunting the dots and renaming and burning - what a bore! On the positive side, I was pleased to discover you can random play a whole disc (typically 200 tracks) not just random within an album, as in the old car. The other problem is the dealer- fitted autodab radio conversion - it doesn't work! Connects2 can't link it into the canbus system of the new cars, so they give you a stupid little remote control to use in lieu of the steering wheel controls. Mine failed within 2 hours of collecting the car, and a replacement remote didn't work at all. The whole sytem has now frozen, with the voice in the dashboard chanting "autodab" over and over. I have tuned out the autodab ( it works on FM direct feed) and installed the Pure Highway I kept from the old car - reception is much better in tricky areas thanks to the external magnetic aerial, it works perfectly and has a pause/rewind facililty. Not as seamless as autodab, with a little visible wiring, but looks quite neat sitting behind the gearstick, attached firmly to the ashtray cover with the power supply behind. Trying to get a refund on the autodab now..
  14. Hi there Many thanks for the useful and poitive comments - I'm still abit nervous about the car, to be honest I got 30% off list for a virtually new car, which takes some beating - a "once in a blue moon " deal, but half price after 1 year is certainly very good. I bought the car in Lancs, 200 miles from home, but well worth the train fare. My local dealer doesn't understand words like "cash" and "discount" How does the chipping affect your insurance?
  15. No complaints so far. although it's early days. Windows are smaller than the hatch, making it feel a bit more closed in, or cosy depending on your point of view. Boot is slightly smaller, but overall it feels really solid and quiet. Electric seats , with driver memory, adjust every which way, including shoulder (seat back is articulated), so it's very comfy, with plenty of room front and back. Also has H3+ suspension, which you can lock in sport mode (don't have to reset every time you start up). The automatic handbrake is nice too - takes some getting used to, as does the fixed centre steering wheel. It's a mature model now, so most of those early faults have hopefully been ironed out. Will post any findings
  16. Hi All After months of reseaching, looking and dithering, I finally bought myself a new car this weekend Pre-reg (13 plate) 3 week old C5 exclusive 160 technopack,at a cool £8k off list with options! 6 speed manual saloon, 2.0 hdi - I never thought I buy a diesel! Looks superb in pearlescant black paint with optional 19 inch bad boy "Adriatic" wheels, also fitted with Autodab radio conversion (which was a bugger to ft apparently, due to the complex sat nav/telemetric system) Loving all the toys, and the pretty colourful screen - fantastic car. And all for the price of a mediocre VW Golf. I know which I prefer..
  17. I'm just about to buy a pre-reg 13 plate exclusive 160 manual technopack ( no xenons) - and will let you know what I think..
  18. Another option not discussed here is "Xenon filled halogen bulbs" - Brighter than regular halogen for sure, but not as bright or complicated as HID, with no complex legal requirement, I believe. Bulbs are about £5, and replace the standard bulbs, straightforward. With the addition of cornering lights (rh or lh fog light comes on) this shoud be a pretty good set-up. The problem with swivellig lights (which I have on my car) is you lose some visibilty of the curb when going round a right-hander. Not a problem with fixed lights augmented by corner lights
  19. Hello If your car is from 2003, it is not a facelift/mk2 - these started in Sept 2004. Is the LCD screen backlight green or orange? Need to establish that before working through your questions. I've had a Mk 1 (years ago) and currently a Mk2, so should be able to help The child seat warning is correct - as you've turned it on, it's warning you not to carry a child in the front.
  20. Hello I've had this "speed control fault" (meaning cruise control not working) a couple of times recently on my C5. Both times an engine restart has cleared it, and both occurrences were when the battery was low ( I think I may need a new battery soon). So it could be your battery to blame. I don't believe cleared faults can be retrieved - otherwise the average Citroen would contain thousands ...
  21. It's a 215 16 inch 8 spoker - the type fitted to mk 2 exclusives Thanks http://i.ebayimg.com/t/CITROEN-C5-ALLOY-WHEELS-X-4-215-x-55-x-16-GOOD-TYRES-/00/s/NzIwWDk2MA==/z/6Y0AAOxydkZRjQ4d/$T2eC16V,!)QE9s3HFe6sBRjQ4cp,nw~~60_35.JPG
  22. a bit more from the net It seems they are compulsory now, but the manufacturer doesn't have to comply until 2014 - what a mess!! Only an MOT item on cars registerd from 2012 onwards, so don't know why it would be an advisory before 2015 - no test needed. As of 1st November 2012, all new-type vehicles will be required by EU law to have a pressure based tyre pressure monitoring system installed. This applies to the road wheels, not the spare By November 2014, all new passenger vehicles will have to have TPMS installed by the manufacturer The law is not currently retrospective, and does not apply to older vehicles This law applies to passenger vehicles only, with no more than 7 seats TPMS is now part of the annual vehicle test, and applies to all newly registered cars from January 1st 2012. This means that a car with a faulty TPMS will fail the vehicle test from January 2015 Until 2015, a faulty TPMS will only be an advisory and be listed on the testing certificate (UK). Different European countries may interpret the EU legislation differently. So please refer to your own European country legislation
  23. MOT testers - don't you just love em? My car failed this week on a damaged wheel - the damage was done in 2008 and has never raised an eyebrow before! So I'm running around getting it repaired now - new wheel is a lengthy special order from France Such is life..
  24. Anyone know why new cars are still being sold without tyre pressure monitors ? According to some reliable sources ( Daily Telegraph, Auto Express etc on line) they were made compulsory for all cars by an EU directive effective November 2012. Also an MOT item now, or maybe 2015? Most manufacturers, including Citroen, do not offer them at all on lower spec cars, and charge extra on "high spec" versions . Personally, I have them on my C5 exclusive, and I think they are a good thing. There's no way I would go around the car with a little guage to test the tyres on any sort of regular basis. Maybe manufacturers are just flouting the law? Very strange
  25. I have an 08 exclusive auto petrol, which I bought in 2009. This is the last of the hatchbcks, not the current shape. It is indeed heavy on petrol - I get around 25 mpg on a mix of urban and rural driving ( no motorways). The AL4 autobox has also been a near disaster, requiring a major £2k rebuild at 3 years/20,000 miles. That said, mine was repaired cat d write-off which I bought for only £5k with 3,000 on the clock, so if I add the gearbox repair and divide by the 4 years I've had it, that's less than £2,000 per year depreciation, assuming zero current value. Petrol is courtesy of a company fuel card, so consumption isn't a huge concern. Road tax is nasty though - £280 per year I recently looked at replacing it with a brand new Mondeo Titanium X 1.6 ecoboost petrol, but the spec just didn't match up to the Citroen - no xenons, no tyre monitors, manual seats, inferior climate control. So sticking with the C5 for the foreseeable. Al in all, taking capital cost/depreciation into account, it's been a luxurious and economical car for me. but you need to look at your own situation - mileage in particular, to decide if the numbers stack up. Hope this helps
