No offense intended iannez but the dealers around here - one in particular - are infamous for giving bad advice, messing up on jobs and overcharging astronomically.
-
I'll give that a shot too. When I get a Round Tuit

Although I have no personal experience of this - I have though done the opposite - My daughter bought a C3 and the dealer filled it up with petrol. It went three miles and stopped. Had to be towed back to the dealers, the tank emptied, all the filters removed and replaced then the system purged with fresh diesel and then refilled. It survived but cost the dealers a fair bit and they had to offer the first service free and a £50 voucher. Personally I wouldn't touch it but leave it to someone familiar with the system. Doing it wrong might cost you a new engine, or at least a diesel pump and they don't come cheap. If you have a Citroen specialist nearby (not a dealer) I'd go to them, failing that a diesel specialist followed by the dealers. Or wait for expert advice from those on the forum with more knowledge and experience.

Mine do this regularly. I'm too lazy to dismantle them, just blast them out with the air line at work. The filler cap for the reservoir is missing so I imagine a thorough clean out is on the cards. They are really flakey though, the rear wash control activates the front one, disconcerting when I want to clear the rear screen and the front is OK. Vision obliterated until I can react and give the wiper control a nudge. Sometimes it is the opposite way round though. Electronics are wonderful when they have a mind of their own!

Thanks for the quote, the site appears to be working again now, must have been a temporary outage. Interesting information there. -
Doses Of Diesel Additive For Car With Particulate Filter

I'm geting a 403 from that link - do you have to subscribe to the site? Tried a few other browsers and googling into it but no success their either. Thought it might be a Linux/Konqueror issue but Honest John are running Apache on a Mandriva Linux server so that is hardly likely. Same story with Vista - looks as though the site has crashed. -
Try and find a local citroen specialist and try and get some feedback from customers. I have used the same Citroen specialist for years, since my BX threw a gearbox. They always do an excellent job at very reasonable prices. If they spot a small problem they usually just fix it and don't charge. They always give me an itemised list of all work carried out and keep any parts they have changed for my inspection. It is true that they don't have the dealers resources but they have the knowledge and experience to do most of the servicing and repairs. More than anything they are trustworthy and will always say if they aren't up to doing something that needs the dealer, or an auto-electrician, to perform the task satisfactorily. The price quoted for the eolys/filter job sounds pretty reasonable though. Incidentaly, my seatbelt suffers from the same problem but I hadn't really given it much thought. It does retract but takes about 20"~30". I rarely use it so it makes no odds. Passed the MOT recently anyway. 51k on a 2001 isn't bad. My 2002 has 118k on it now.

But surely, once the belt is in place you can release and reset the tensioner? In fact, I'd have thought it near impossible without releasing the tensioner anyway as the original belt must have stretched, if only slightly. Or maybe not. I haven't done this for some time. First one I did was a GS 1220, twin camshaft belts. Scared the hell out of me but it all went well in the end.

You can download the manuals from here: AnalogStereo.com

Here are a couple of threads in the forum that touch on your question http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citro...?showtopic=1503 http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citro...?showtopic=2591 I think I wish I hadn't seen them!

I imagine a decent fitter of ICE equipment should be able to install a jack in a suitable location. Couldn't hazard a guess at the price of such an operation. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable in this area will be along to further enlighten us. also a trip to the ICE section of the forum might be productive.

No! and my name's not Jack. No there isn't unfortunately, he would need to buy an FM transmitter and tune the radio into it. The CD player is supposed to play mp3 discs. Mine tries but can't actually get any noise out of them.

There is an Australian site that has a vegetable oil only forum that would answer your questions, unfortunately I have mislaid the link to it {and I'm a forum member! :-( } It would appear that it would be too viscous particularly under UK climatic conditions. You need a seperate fuel tank for the Mazola with a heater (usually drawn from the engin cooling system) and a changeover valve to switch between Mazola and Diesel. The trick seems to be to run on diesel for the first ten miles or so, switch over for the main part of the journey then back to diesel for the last ten miles to clear the veg oil from the pump and pipes. This might be of interest until I can search out the missing link. Edited to add: Biofuels Forums Australia, SVO

Right, thanks for that. I hadn't realised it was a DOHC (never even thought about it to be honest, even though my previous car was - an Accord - didn't find out about that for a year after buying the car and needing a new exhaust for it) Speaking of exhausts, I had the car MOT'd a few weeks back and part of the exhaust was earmarked for attention. I have cleverly bought a new back box using the info supplied by the tester but then overcame the inertia and actually looked underneath the car yesterday to discover that it isn't the back box at fauly but the pipe between the box and the cat, where it joins the back box. Can I fix this without replacing the cat? The suppliers seem pretty sketchy about this but tell me there are two different cats listed for my car ( I gave them the reg and vin numbers and they traced it from that)

If it uses a cambelt, what is it doing with a chain in there?

From info posted by other with similar problems one approach seems to be to wait for 15 minutes after the engine has been switched off. Remove the battery leads. Short them together with a resistor between them initially - use a light bulb, for example, then after a few minutes push them together to create a dead short for about fifteen minutes. Reconnect the leads to the battery and wait half an hour. Start the car and let it run for at least ten minutes. Reset all the stuff that needs resetting (radio settings, automatic lights, locks, windows etc). No guarantee that it will solve the problem, but it might.

Yes, push it repeatedly to adjust the brightness of the instrument panel lights.

I have a 52 plate, same model. There are no reversing sensors fitted.

Weird, I couldn't view my last post and my previous one was not showing either, Jamie's, as stated above, was complete nonsense. Changed browsers and all is OK. Had this problem before but have just reinstalled the OS and couldn't remember which browsers work with this site. Firefox and Opera both seem to dislike it.
-
Jamie's post is just coming up garbage for me - browser problem probably, so if he has posted the solution, apologies. I did have a shot at the nearside bulb myself and screwed it up badly - one of the pair of new bulbs is still rattling around in the headlamp unit after I dropped it and I had to get my mechanic to refit the clip for me when the car was serviced. The other one went last Friday and on Saturday, as I was nearby, I called in at Halfords and they fitted a replacement in just a few minutes, well worth the £4.99 they charge to do it.
-
I don't do many miles anymore, used to be ±500 per week but has fallen to about 100, almost all short trips of around four~six miles with a few round trips of 15-ish. Most recent calculations give a grand average of 31.68 MPG.or 6.98 M/L. This is on 100% biodiesel (recycled cooking oil) 52 plate 2.0 HDi 110, 117000 miles.
-
I have just had mine to Halfords, mainly as I was on the estate looking for a new cooker. I saw when I filled up yesterday that the driver's side headlight was out and wasn't happy as the nearside (easy one!) proved iposible for me to fit correctl. Got the bulb in place but the retaining clip defeated me. I asked if they could do it and they said it was no problem. Drove round the back and waited. After twenty minutes went back into the store to discover that I had been forgotten. Anyway, the lad had the bulb in in only a few minutes, once we had managed to get the plastic cover out of the way. £13.98 including fitting. Seems to be simple enough if you are double jointed and have the arms and hands of a five year old, or better yet tentacles with eyes on the end.

Perhaps that's what is wrong with mine - poured a cup of coffee into the suspension controls about a month ago and the reversing lights/bong hasn't worked since about that time.

C4 Rear Brake Pad Replacement
myglaren replied to butane11's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
Perhaps they need to be screwed back into place. Never seen it on rear calipers but then again I haven't had a C4 either. If they are castellated pistons, use a giant screwdriver or similar to rotate them back into their bores. IIRC one will be a right hand and the other a left hand thread. -
Tapping the button on the end of the washer stalk should cycle through the display options but it should disapear on starting the engine anyway. Like mine doesn't anymore!
