Does Replacing Radio Affect Warranty ?
wozza replied to C4VTS's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
Hams kfk did a little thing about that apparently some of the cars suffer problems just replacing the headunit if you go to citroen though and get the cable and ask for them to set it so the stock headunit is not detected it might fix your problem so then you can use your alpine and still get the reverse sensors working as well. -
Does Replacing Radio Affect Warranty ?

TV/DVD tuner for £400 you will be lucky to get one 2nd hand for that mate. the ok ones retail new for £700 for a cheapish one. The good ones are over £1000. Theres 1 pioneer one thats quite good thats less than £600 new. And no the steering controls do not work. Not yet anyways been in touch with a few companies who all say the adaptor is still in development for our cars. One said should have one out in the next 2 months though. -
Yeah just take it back to the dealer they should be able to sort it.
-
Yeah so far mines been alright thankfully i did have an instance a couple months ago where it would do the problem described but it lasted 3 days and then it went away. So never thought anything of it and it works now but its making me think it might die in the future with so many peoples going...I seriously hope not though!

OUCH! Seems everything that can go wrong has with you mate. Recalls are a thing you have to put up with on new cars and the C4's honestly are not that bad. Hey at least its not an A class Merc that liked to flip over until they were recalled to have that issue rectified. But suspension recall? Thats a new one non of us have had a recall on our suspension, Airbags, Brakes, ABS block. And i think thats it. The doors flying open im guessing were due to the door handles on the outside sticking open? Was a known issue with a fix out a long time ago now. CD player dunno about dont have the stock system or cd changer in my car. Air conditioning is the latest one though we have heard issues about apparently theres a whole new unit out now. Just hpoing im not gonna have to get mine replaced anytime soon now. Other fix out is if you have squeaky rear brakes that can be sorted. But to be honest my cars had a few minor niggles but nothing major go wrong. Same with all marques though some cars just go wrong from new. Know people with brand new golfs that have had bits literally fall off them and thats supposed to be well built.

If your going aftermarket any will fit in without problems citroen have there own adaptor cable available for you. More information in the ICE section one of the recent topics describing whats needed. have a look in this thread. http://www.citroenpicasso.org.uk/citroen/i...=ST&f=80&t=1709 If you need anymore help just let us know sure noe of us will be able to sort it out for you.

Yeah thats usually true if you want like for like coverage some companies offer it but charge you. my friends changed his focus 15" wheels for some 17" ST 170 wheels and didnt charge him any extra. Yet he is not allowed to put a spoiler on or touch the engine in anyway at all.

C6 is a bloody lovely looking car would gladly drive one of those myself. If it were not for that £30k price tag. but give it a few years sure a couple will pop up on the net for next to nothing. Glad to see you will be back soon though mate. Wish i could have got a yellow VTS after seein dave&traces i wanted a yellow vts.
-
Yeah like most semi auto boxes you have to give it a bit of gas to stop it rolling backwards it wont be like a full automatic and constantly want to creep forward you have to drive it like a manual but it'll change gear for you and have no clutch pedal thats it. Kinda half way between the 2 systems better in some respects worse in others.

The 1.6 VTR+ is only a group 6 though the price difference in insurance is rather small but car costs more more ot tax more to put fuel in etc. not ideal for everyone though thats young due to extra costs especially new young drivers as we get penalised loads already. I mean we can pay more to insure a 1.0 litre 8yr old corsa than someone whos a bit older does on a VTS etc. My insurance on my 1.6 vtr+ with 1yr noclaims and im 22 is nearly £1300.

Taking the power supply from headunit cable not sure about but "should" work if not just have to take it from the cigarette lighter in the centre console and run it underneath. Getting the top off Im not sure about without goign and having a look i know it came off fairly eaily and doesnt look like there is anything to screw it on with so would imagine it pops off with clips. I know mine was taken off but i didnt do it so bit cautious of that as cant give you a proper answer. The tweeter grills just pop off though with a flat head screw driver so could have a look under the tweeters themselves see if theres any screws on the top as under the tweeters would seem the most logical place to put them if there is any. Otherwise on drivers side just get under the dash and push the cable up from under might be a bit of a bugger but should be able to get it through with some persuasion and yanking on parts of the dash. Cant give you a proper answer though unless i go take my car to bits which i cant really do today lol.

bluetooth kit is simple if you get citroens own kit. powerfeed might be able to take one from where the headunit is just splice into it and run it up behind the dash from there can get under the dash fairly easily just pull the clips for the carpet out then think its a couple torx screws and you can pull a couple sections of the dash off did it on my own car as my crossovers are mounted behind the dash.

Welcome to the forums. You can put any aftermarket cd player in Citroen actually have there own adaptor cable for it. Then just a case of taking old unit out and putting the new one in takes a few minutes. the standard radio is near enough 1din size so only a very small gap around the edges nothing that would annoy many people. Just remove it using a wire coathanger and push into the 2 holes either side should work. The only thing is depending on the model you have you may not be able to control the computer thign without putting original stereo back in. I have the menu, mode, esc, dimmer keys etc on my steering wheel not sure if you do though so may need to put the stock system in when you need ot change it. Will have no effect on the vehicle though i have had mine installed for a good few months now also upgraded the front component speakers and added a couple amplifiers and a subwoofer. picture of mine below to show you how large the gap is when installing an aftermarket unit. http://mybigspoon.com/wozza/dash.JPG Hope that helps with what you needed to know mate if theres anything else just let us know sure one of us will be able to answer your question theres a few of us with aftermarket units in ours now with no one having any issues except 1 whos reversing sensors didnt work afterwards. Were not sure if that can be fixed by citroen though...

Because most of the time the ones that come with the car are crap there heavy ugly things. And most insurance companies dont mind if you have alloys already changing to another type of alloy does not affect anything. i can slap some 19" alloys on tomorrow been told they will not charge me a penny more. Same with a few of my mates policies as well only things there allowed to change without problems is there alloys wheels.
-
See i already had the 17's since i had a VTR+ but the spoiler is a need in my opinion it just makes the car has to be black though the colour coded ones dont look as nice imo. Saw a red colour coded one just didnt fit the same. But wheels do come before spoiler. And i think you NEED some nice multispokes personally ;)

Would look something a little like this. http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/7186/p62955841280dezentwrc7xi.jpg So bloody lovely!
-
hahaha Sorry mate should know better not to put up things i know you want...especially at good prices. will try not to in future. haha
-
Ahh fair enough there bloody expensive for what they are though. Although the vanilla one was rather potent only one that made a very noticeable smell i tried.
-
These would look amazing in my opinion do you still want 17's or want to go bigger though? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/17-ALLOY-WHEELS-CITR...1QQcmdZViewItem Similar but slightly different in an 18" http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/18-ALLOY-WHEELS-CITR...1QQcmdZViewItem

Prices arent that bad either.
-
Did you not get the 3 free ones to work that out?
-
Some things are cheap some arent. Just depends and the problem with a lot of cars in canada is rust! Due to the roads being salted so much in the winter it likes to eat away at the metal not a good thing. And unfortunately petrol is still quite expensive out there. Does my head in though when i was in shops id think oh thats cheap get to till forgot about the tax so it didnt work out cheaper at all.
-
No idea if you can get them anywhere else i just bought a poppy coral one and hid it still makes the car smell nice and hidden out of the way and cheaper than citroen charge for theres.
-
Where about in canada you from? I spent just over 2 months in arnprior little place about an hour outside of ottawa well my friends live there but we spent a week an a bit on the road which was good fun. Plan to go over to New York at some point next year hopefully got some friends who lived there who came over here last year so been asking me when i can go out so gonna try arrange to spend a month or so just touring in car(s) will be a great way to see a bit more of the country. Canadian driving law is wierd though if your a visitor you can drive on your license for 1 year while there if you move there its like 3 months or something before your british license is not valid to be driven on. PLus they have that cant drive at night thing for new drivers. Just stupid i find.

I thought that but according to a few reviews there actually cooler. And theres also a screen thing that comes over the whole thing.
