  1. So what do you mean when you wrote "and they stick on"?
  2. Before you go replacing the master cylinder give each wheel a looking at. Make sure the pistons are releasing, allowing the wheels to spin freely. What's on the rear wheels? Discs or drums? Also if it's been standing for nearly a year a change of fluid and a good bleed wouldn't come amiss.
  3. From your opening post I gathered that you didn't know how to use the messaging facility. Obviously I needn't have bothered.
  4. To send a personal message to another forum member click the envelope in the black bar at the top of the page. Next go right and click "compose new". Enter the name of the person you're mailing. Make sure you type it exactly as written. Type the subject then the message. Click "Send". When you have a reply, there will be a red marker against the envelope. If you move along the black bar for a couple of inches and click the arrow against your name, besides other functions, you can also get to the message system from there
  5. There's lots of Chinese cloned Lexias on ebay, some working better than others and it's reported that one of them won't even work on C5s. Although I haven't dealt with them, the machine from http://easydiagnostics.co.uk/#/shop/4590186381/lexia-3-diagbox-for-citroen-peugeot/10015520 gets good mentions.
  6. Haven't heard of it happening. Did maybe the glass hit something in the boot.
  7. Looks as though they are all the same with the same part number - 6590 A5
  8. Hello & welcome to the forum
  9. That will be a complicated wiring job as they need to come on when the engine starts and yet go off when the side lights are switched on.
  10. A whistling noise can often be heard when injector seals are leaking. Just because new seals have been fitted, they may not necessarily be making a sound joint.
  11. Can't you loosen off the top engine mount, support the engine on a jack then pull the block forward.
  12. Although the fault code has been deleted, if the management light is still on the fault code may return after a few miles. Get your garage to check the turbo pipes for splits or poor joints.
  13. The recommended oil is 5W/30 low saps fully synthetic oil. You'll need 3.75 ltrs. As for removal of the particle filter, since it is both illegal and likely to fail an MOT, the forum admin don't encourage it or offer advice.
  14. What's the mileage? Keep up to date with oil changes otherwise you'll get turbo trouble.
  15. That's a fine thing to do. Well done you. I bet you're appreciated.
  16. Yes - you might be right! It's nearly 20 years since I've had a Xantia.
  17. You probably have a sensor faulty. A lexia will indicate which one, although I've heard that a buzzing noise can be heard from good ones.
  18. I've never seen a Xantia do that. Only a BX.
  19. That sounds right. Having the engine running initially was suggested for difficult spheres.
  20. Front ones comparatively easy - rears can be a ***, especially if you don't have a decent sphere wrench. Put the suspension on high, have the engine running and just get each sphere moving before switching off and depressurising. If you do the anti sink sphere, disconnect the fluid pipe before the sphere otherwise you'll twist the pipe.
  21. Well that's looking better. Spray with chain grease and keep it moving. The fact that GSF sell new height correctors indicate that they do fail and need replacing..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Height-Corrector-for-Citroen-Xantia-/301353663737?fits=Model%3AXantia&hash=item462a13fcf9 but if you do need one, maybe breakers might be a possibility.
  22. Well done. A happy result all round. And thanks for returning to tell us the outcome.
  23. When I wanted one as a spare for my daughter's car, I bought a new one from:- http://www.oponeo.co.uk/steel-wheels-finder
  24. No don't remove the rubber covers. Just wire brush the moving parts and spray with plus-gas and when moving easily use spray grease. This video may help....
  25. Your height corrector has seized through lack of lubrication. You might be able to free it off in situ by spraying it every day for a while with plus gas or similar. You really need to have it working correctly before changing spheres. With the ride height working correctly you may not need to change them. A word of warning - don't go under your car without having the body resting on stands. The hydraulic suspension can suddenly allow the car to drop giving you some serious injuries.
