Here's a picture of a 2002 Xsara with the fan motor removed. Maybe you can point out the item you've mentioned. Incidentally, the fan on this car was only working at full speed. The resistor pack was changed and it worked normally for a week then stopped altogether. I fitted a new motor for around 80 quid from ECP. http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i53/Johndug/P1010883.jpg

And unless the kits provide a washing system, they won't be legal and won't pass an MOT. However it's easier to change the other way. You'll need the two halogen headlamps with the correct bulb holders and the bulbs. The washer system could be left either working or not.

Zx Reliability / General Question
Johndouglas replied to dejardine's topic in Questions about the Citroen ZX
The Citroen ZX has always been highly regarded in the UK and as far as reliability is concerned, it's no worse than other marques. Although I and my family have owned Citroens for twentyfive years, we've never owned a ZX. However one of my daughters drives a Peugeot 306 which is built on the same floor pan as the ZX. Both cars share the running gear and engines and her 306 has been giving her brilliant service for over 15 years. -
The glowplugs don't come into action until the temperature is down below freezing. It could be thast you have a slight air leak in the fuel line. If you have a primer bulb on the fuel system you could try giving it a few squeezes prior to a start. The bulb should feel quite solid. http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i53/Johndug/Handprimer002marked.jpg In case you don't know it, the hand primer is the bulb with the crimson spot. But not every car has one!

Yes it seems that the original daytime running light bulbs don't last long. On here (and on other forums) some owners have fitted LED lights into the original Citroen bulb holder. Also I believe Citroen recommend removing the bumper but I've heard that it's just about possible to change them without doing so. So far I haven't needed to change them on my 2010 car.

They should be easily obtained after-market. See these on ebay but your responsibility that they will fit your particular model. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-Saxo-Xsara-5sp-MA-gearbox-diff-driveshaft-genuine-oil-seal-pair-/191411904870?hash=item2c9109e166

It's only a matter of time (I think) before hydraulic suspension is dropped altogether. PSA, having been rescued by the French Government and the Chinese are looking for ways to cut production costs. It seems that one of their aims is to reduce the number of floor pans used and emphasize the DS versions.

What mileage has the car done? Normally the service indicator is zeroed after a full or interim service and part of the service is topping up the washer bottle. But there are more important jobs which shouldn't be neglected. To zero the indicator between services could become confusing.

Check the voltage of your battery. With my previous C5, although the engine started, if the battery was slightly weak, the power steering would stop working. By allowing the engine to put some voltage in the battery, then switching off and starting again, the power steering was back.

Citroen dealers use a computer programme called Lexia. There are several companies on ebay selling Chinese cloned versions and it seems that some work better than others. This company, although I haven't used them myself, gets good reports....... http://www.easydiagnostics.co.uk/#/shop/4590186381/lexia-3-diagbox-for-citroen-peugeot/10015520

Tyres For A Grand Picasso 1.6 Diesel? 215/55 R16 W
Johndouglas replied to MickyS's topic in C4 - Technical
They last longer than the original Michelins did -
It was just a thought that if the steering had been forced then maybe the Comms 2000 unit which controls the lighting and indicator switches may have got damaged.

Have you tried ECP. They might have what you want. http://www.eurocarparts.com/turbo-hose

Was the steering lock broken or interfered with?

Tyres For A Grand Picasso 1.6 Diesel? 215/55 R16 W
Johndouglas replied to MickyS's topic in C4 - Technical
On my previous C5 and on the front of my present one I'm using Nexen. They're rated at C for fuel; B for grip with 72db for noise. In my size which is the same as yours except mine are 17" they can be had for around £62 a corner. -

Hello & welcome. Is your C5 a 2008/early 2009 model? If so - it's a common fault on some of them.
-
I had reversing sensors on my last C5 estate and when I fitted a fixed flange towbar to it the reverse alarm sounded every time I went into reverse. I just switched them off on the dashboard. On my latest C5 which came without sensors, I've fitted an after-market kit but since I've also got a flanged towball, I've only fitted the two outside sensors.

What's Lexia ? Where Do I Get It
Johndouglas replied to stevestoys's topic in Technical Section - C8
Lexia is the computer system used by Citroen dealers when they need to diagnose problems on Citroen cars. There are Chinese clones available on ebay which need to be used in conjunction with a laptop - some clones specifically require Windows XP. Some versions it seems work better than others. Although I haven't used them this company seems to be well regarded. http://www.easydiagnostics.co.uk/#/shop/4590186381/lexia-3-diagbox-for-citroen-peugeot/10015520. Diesel engines didn't become fully compliant until 2004, so any vehicle before that date may not fully work. -
Do you have a volt meter to test the battery. It should give a reading of 12.6 or 7 to be in good nick. Also when you changed the battery did you do the change over correctly? Citroens/Peugeots have a recommended procedure for disconnecting a battery which seems tedious but is necessary.
-
Unless the BSI is allowed to close down correctly before changing the batteries, many Citroen cars will display all manner of electrical faults. The correct procedure for disconnecting a battery is as follows:- Put the driver's window down, lift the bonnet and ensure all equipment is switched off. Ensure all doors are closed and remove key from the ignition. Wait for 3 minutes, disconnect the vehicle battery. Reconnect the vehicle battery, wait a further 10 seconds (do not open doors.). Switch on the side lights through the driver's window. Switch on the ignition and check system's functionality. Hold lock button on key down for 10 seconds. Remove key open & close door test central locking system. Start the engine and complete the system's check. Failure to follow this procedure could result in incorrect operation of many BSI related items.
