    Recall

It makes no odds as to whether they purchase from a bonafide dealer, ebay or the local scrap yard.......the only accurate way of checking for recalls or quality updates is at the main dealer. Websites of this kind are a usefull source of information, however, the information given out is never going to be 100% correct due to everyone having a different opinion on whatever the faults are and what the recall is supposed to cure. Another thing about recalls is that since the inception of C4 there have probably been many different updates to the vehicle. Some you will know about because you recieved letters and others you wouldn't because the work is carried out when the vehicle passes through a workshop. To list all the recalls would cause ......as has happened in this post *******HEY, LOOK EVERYONE, I'VE GOT A RECALL********** response: *******I WANT ONE, I WANT ONE, WHY HAVENT I GOT ONE******* ........and then of course you get the customer who has a problem. He thinks the recall his vehicle isn't affected by, will be cured with something it doesnt need! Its simple......want to know about recalls, go to your dealer, you might aswell use them for something.
  2. Might not be saying much but i look in once a day........ Have PM'd you about this
  3. Had ours delivered aswell, must say the styling outside has still to make an impression on me. Love the gadgets inside and air suspension.
  4. Sounds like a part number rather than a reference to fitting a ZX. Are you sure the number starts 'ZX' and not 'ZC' ?
  5. I wont comment further other to say that my offence was at the 'descriptive title'. There are plenty of words that could have been used with out reducing yourself to the same level as the person who damaged your car! I'm sorry if you dont like my opinion, thats your prerogative.
  6. Dont mind sticking my neck out here, But i find the title of this offensive, we arn't in the school playground now. Seeing as it you felt the need to to use asterisks you obviously realised it would offend therefore it shouldnt have been done. It also goes for all the attached messages with **oops** in......can we all try to grow up a bit.
  7. As a person who works within the dealer network i would have to say i was aware that you can by the vehicle minus the radio, but in all honesty i would have to say i hadnt considered what was required to put one in with regard to the display......but then no-one has ever asked! Having read the comments i would suggest that the vehicle is an ideal candidate to have an accessorie radio....this doesnt make use of the display. One day when i know all the answers to all the questions i will no doubt get paid a small fortune and be able to charge for my excessive knowledge. Until then i will tell what i know for free and if i dont know keep my gob shut. The good thing about free information is you dont have to give a refund if your wrong and the public whilst forgeting to thank you go away happy feeling they have all the answers. But what if you dont know?......well theres always someone to complain that you 'dont know nuffin'......truth of the matter is someone has to be first to make us go find out.
  8. Had a local garage fit an accessory radio into a berlingo recently, they bought it into us when various electrical problems occured. Removing it cured the problems.
  9. sounds like one of the handbrake cables has become detached from the brake caliper........suggest you whip your front wheels off and have a look. Yes i did say front!

    C6 And Ipod

unless someone else manufactures components to allow an ipod o plug into a C6 radio then i would say that the FM transmitter is the only way to get it to play through the unit.
  11. Some late Xantias did have the C5 type spheres fitted. However i wouldnt recommend them if your vehicle isnt supposed to have them.
  12. Unfortunately i believe the computor will need to be replaced along with the airbags to turn the light out. If you replace the detonated components the computer will have stored in its memory that it has been 'used' and for your safety requires replacement. Have you spoken to your insurance company to see if you could claim? just a thought.

    Economy Drive

Afternoon eddie, my ears were burning so i thought i would see what was written :D
  14. only problem is if the same as the ones were changing the sensor has gone on backorder!.....was given a date in december for expected delivery.
  15. ignition on: Enter your current code (1111) press 'C' ....it will bleep at you, twice i think Enter your new code (XXXX) press 'C' again......it bleeps again 4 times i think Without turning ignition off start the car. Turn off ignition, get out of car and lock doors wait about 2 minutes untill immobilizer starts flashing red open vehicle and enter your new code to start the vehicle (i might add if you have forgotten the code you just entered you will still be able at this point to start it using your old code) Entering the new code and starting the vehicle confirms the code and erases the old one from the memory. Should you wish to disable the immobilzer.....disconnect the key pad with the engine running. Word of warning though......write the code you last used on the rear of the unit.....sometime in the fuure some bright spark will say 'iwonder why this isnt connected' at which point having reconnected the wire the imobilizer will cut in and no one will know the code!.....if you do disconnect it i recommend leaving it at the factory default of 1111.
  16. I've just read back through your posts and would like to comment. It may seem an easy task to have cruise control fitted, especially considering various models come from the factory equipped as standard. Unfortunately, for you, you are dependent on finding a dealer who has either had experience of fitting said device to your vehicle or has time on there hands to sit and work it out. Most customers would be unwilling to pay the 'real time' it takes to get these things sorted on their vehicles and dont realise the true cost of doing so, especially when its the first time.....if the customer was to pay the time taken they would realise very quickly that it was their wallet stopping them and not necessarily the ability of the dealership. The manufacturer for various reasons enables certain components within the various computers and turns other parts off either because they are not needed or because where a feature isnt fitted it would throw up a fault when it couldnt be found. You may feel, in your opinion that having a group of consultant technicians that havent fitted cruise control to your model of vehicle is odd......well let me tell you .....in the last 5 years i have only been asked to fit 2 and they were to a picasso and a C8......it isnt a common request. As far as i am aware there isnt a listing for cruise control as an accessorie for any Citroen. It comes on certain models as standard with no guarantee that it can be fitted to a vehicle after purchase. People request this on the basis that they have heard you can do it.....usually based on a comment on a website somewhere (people believe what theyread here!), and on some models you can and quite easily. I would suggest that either it isnt possible to fit it to your vehicle or the dealer concerned isnt activating the right settings. Obviously, you can be 'pissed off' that they cant get it to work, but as i said previously there is no guarantee on any model it would. If it's fitted as standard equipment when it leaves the factory it is reasonable to expect it to work as designed. If it isn't and isn't sold as an accessorie you cannot have the same expectation.
  17. Cheapest option is to replace the throttle cable and then reasses it ......you would be suprised how much a new throttle cable can improve things.
  18. I dont think people are well off, and seeing you come from wales you more than likely would notice a difference in the cost of living down here.....i'd rather buy you a Pint in wales than Kent....i could afford to get drunk.
  19. Check you have the correct parts....the C5 shouldnt be wired up with a conventional towbar wiring kit. Due to its electrical system it will require a bypass relay kit. see the Witter website for details: http://www.witter-towbars.co.uk/accessorie.../electrics.aspx
  20. as i see it, the Mot has flagged the brake hose as a fault.....if this is the case and the only problem with the brakes a cant see it costing more than £100. Obviously if its more than one hose it may well creep over that. The Problem at the moment is the motortrade in general is dead, plenty of time on there hands and the're looking for work.....Unfortunately what some fail to realise is that the customer is wise to these tactics and is unlikely to spend vast amounts of money just before xmas. Maybe rather than taking the vehicle in somewhere to have a brake inspection, book it in at a garage to have the hose replaced to pass the MOT. So whats the worse case scenario. The hose maybe seized into the caliper or metal pipe, the bleed nipples in the calipers maybe seized.....the rear wheel cylinders may have seized nipples. Obviously the moment these problems are encountered additional parts are ussually required and with an older vehicle the risks of corrossion and leaking brake components is far greater. There are 2 main dealers in the area, Crayford Motors & Hidsons....with another Hidsons branch in Rainham Kent... who i would recomended but that means main dealer prices. An independent would be: Citreon (their spelling!) Centre Services - 16 Darent Ind Park Maypole Crescent Erith, DA8 2JZ 01322 332223 I have no experience of this company and would advise you make your own decision.
  21. Have you had any updates to the main computer recently.....or a new set of column switches?
  22. Poverty spec'd?......you mean it has the essentials for someone driving down the shops. To much value is put in vehicle specs......after all, look at the posts on here, if its got it someones got a problem with it, or they dont know how to operate it, or cant get it fixed......now somewhere along the line i thought people wanted trouble free motoring......so why buy the gizmo's to go wrong?.....yes they look good, but they all add to the cost and in reality dont add that much to the value of the car when you sell it second hand. So for me the C1 represents good value, currently i'm driving a berlingo multispace diesel......hasnt got the street cred of other cars but is comfortable with a decent driving position, excelent visibility all round, economical.....and plays CD's. I like practicle.....but then i have to fix your problems, i dont need my own.
  23. Dunno why people think the C1 should be the butt of jokes......dont have as many problems as C4's!
  24. I would have thought at your tender age you would have known what emoticons are (emowts). :P
  25. When you book it in ask if they have changed your COM2000 as this was subject to a recall on certain models. If the fault should occur again it might be worth aquainting yourself with the Shunt fuse in the glove box fuse box (its got SH on it or HS depending on which way up it is). If the fuse is removed for a few seconds and refitted it may overcome the problem.....you will have to change the instrument settings to english afterwards, but better than the inconvenience of a non runner.
