  1. Looking at the parts diagrams, the only sensor/actuator on the turbo is the one you have already replaced the sensor on. Citroen part no. 0375P0 including the actuator. Maybe the wiring to it or its connection has a fault. If not already done, you can register as another professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club to see the Citroen parts diagrams as a free service. Use your VIN (VIS) top left to find your car and the turbo can be found under Mechanical, Engine, Turbocharging, Turbo charger oil return hose. http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres
  2. If using a second hand towbar I would be tempted to use new bolts since you will not know how they have been used or tightened up and may have been over stressed. You would need to check it for corrosion since the paint on new towbars does not last long. Have a good look at any welds for any cracks. Personally I would not entertain a used one and the ebay one at £70 is not too far off a new one. This one from Towbars Direct is £106 new inc a towball and single electrics but does not inc a by-pass relay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Flange-Towbar-Citroen-C5-Estate-2001-2008-inc-2004-Facelift-Tow-Trust-/140588579317?hash=item20bbbb79f5 I got one for our C5 from them, being only a few miles away in Warrington and got all the necessary electrical bits for a 13 pin socket. It may be worthwhile checking the threaded mounting points in your car are in good condition before you purchase a towbar.
  3. Have a look at the link in post 13 for P2565.
  4. I have not had an auto box but you would need to make sure it works and check if the oil is clean and not burnt. There seems to be an 8 valve and a 16 valve 1.8 petrol engine and one 1.8 diesel engine - you have not mentioned which the car has. Up to car RPO 06747 the speedo drive used a cable, and then was electric - so if a cable drive then maybe it needs a new cable if the existing one is worn or sticking. Does the central locking work - if the door open light is on the car must think the door is not closed so the locking may not lock. The switch to say if the door is closed will be either a separate switch or be built in to the lock. If not a switch problem it could be a problem with the wiring such as where it goes between the door and body.
  5. Looking at the parts diagrams without knowing which engine or whether you have air conditioning, it looks as if the part is a reduction gear that will control one of the heating system flaps. It will either be to adjust the temperature if you have climate control or more likely to put the air inlet to the outside or to recycle - you could try using the air inlet recycle switch to see if it does anything. If you have air conditioning, the Citroen part no. for a diesel car is 6447ER and if a petrol car 6447CF. Without air conditioning the part for a diesel car is 6447FJ and for a petrol car 6447AQ but all these part nos. should be checked using the car VIN. The noise could be the part is faulty such as its gear teeth are worn or possibly the bit it fits in to could be worn or maybe something is jamming the flap. Here is an example of one of these parts http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-406-95-04-AIR-CONDITION-REDUCTION-GEAR-6447CF-/330482277515?hash=item4cf2475c8b
  6. Welcome to the forum. You could possibly try a 12 volt supply direct to the fan motor by-passing the resistor to see if it runs. This would check the motor. You could also see if there is a 12 volt supply to the resistor when trying to run the fan from the car. There will probably be a fuse which should be listed in the handbook. The thing that looks like a servo, if you could post a photo on something similar to photobucket you could link to it on this forum. You could also look at the parts diagrams as a free service on the service.citroen site if you register as another professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres This topic includes a picture behind the glovebox so you may be able to point out the part http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/22812-heater-fan-blows-constantly/
  7. There is some info here that may help with P2565 but in the 2nd to last post for one person the problem went with a long drive http://c4owners.org/plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?175142.0 In your previous posts and the screen shot you have P2563 and from these a possible cause could be a faulty turbo vane position sensor or the turbo vanes are sticking http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/asemaster327/2008-07-22_005829_ANSWER.pdf http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/18995/P2563/009571 When bleeding the brakes I think you only need to use a Lexia if air has got in to the abs pump. Otherwise normal bleeding methods such as pushing the brake pedal, using a pressure bleeder, using a vacuum bleeder will all work. If changing all the brake fluid remember to also change the brake fluid in the clutch - best way I have found is to suck the fluid through using a Mityvac vacuum bleeder.
  8. Welcome to the forum. What year is your C3 ? If it is the 2002 to 2009 model, according to the Haynes manual, the fog light is held by a bolt reached from under the front bumper. Undo the electrical connector, remove the bolt and push the light forwards out of the front of the bumper.
  9. Diagnosing something from a distance is not easy but it could be the starter motor or its wiring have failed or become disconnected. If the battery voltage is low though it may not have enough power to run the starter motor. So first checks would be the battery voltage which should be about 12.5 volts when the engine is not running, then check the wiring to the starter motor and for a 12 volt supply at all the starter motor connections when the ignition switch is turned. If these things are all ok and the starter motor is not turning then possibly the starter motor needs replacing. For such a fault you would not need to use a Citroen dealer.
  10. Economy mode is a Citroen/Peugeot thing to prevent the battery going flat. If the radio or inside lights or doors are kept open after the engine is stopped, economy mode cuts in to switch off things like the radio and inside lights. Once the engine is run again it will reset and these things will work again. This is normal and will not prevent the car starting. Disconnecting the battery will not require the key to be reprogammed. Do the headlights/sidelights/hazard lights/central locking work ? When you turn the ignition key is there any noise from the starter motor such as a clicking sound as the solenoid moves ? Did you check the maxi fuses ? I suspect if you ring up a garage they will not suggest anything other than to bring the car in for a check since they will be afraid of giving a wrong diagnosis and being liable for consequences.
  11. To get to the maxi fuses in the engine fuse box, first disconnect the battery, remove the engine fuse box lid, unclip the 4 wiring connectors on top of the fuses, undo the bolt fastening the battery cable to the fuse box then pull up the fuse holder. The maxi fuses should now be seen. When reconnecting the battery do not be too quick to start the car since the bsi needs a bit of time to reset. I have found the following procedure in the C4 Technical section Common Problems pinned topic works: 11. Odd electrical problems caused by wrong battery disconnection procedure. If you need to disconnect the battery and not do a BSI reset procedure, I have found the following has not given me any problems on a 2004 and 2007 C5 and a 2003 C3: - remove the ignition key from the car - open the bonnet - wait a few minutes for the BSI to shut down - disconnect the battery negative terminal When reconnecting - ignition key out of the car - reconnect the battery - wait a few minutes - insert the key in the ignition and wait a minute - turn the key to the first position and wait a minute - turn the key so the dash lights come on and wait a minute - start the engine - take the windows down and up to reset the anti pinch - reset the clock (and radio on the C3).
  12. Welcome to the forum. If nothing happens when the key is turned and there are no warning messages and the dash is not lighting up, then most likely a fuse has failed. There are fuses in the glovebox and under the bonnet. As well as the normal fuses there will be maxi fuses hidden in the engine fusebox and there are fused links on top of the battery. If it is a fuse failure then most likely it will be one of the maxi fuses. The Haynes manual for the C4 lists them as MF1 30/50 amp engine cooling fan MF2 30 amp ABS/ESP pump supply MF3 50 amp ABS/ESP control unit MF4 and MF5 both 80 amp built in systems interface (BSI) MF6 80 amp passenger compartment fusebox MF7 20 amp diagnostic connector/additive pump MF8 spare
  13. First option for the seals would be a Citroen dealer, then you will get the right parts assuming the replacement gearbox was the same as the original. This topic for a Saxo has a link to a possible supplier on ebay http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/23014-drive-shaft-oil-seal/?do=findComment&comment=85540
  14. If the vibration is speed related and not rpm related then the first things to check are usually the condition and pressure of the tyres and the balancing of all the wheels.
  15. Have a look at this topic on drls http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/20984-daytime-running-lights-bulb-replacement-and-led-option/
  16. On the link, just register but do it as another professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club. Car clubs are allowed to use this free service in the terms and conditions. It also lets you pay for things other than looking at the free parts diagrams but I have not used them.
  17. Thanks for getting back to us. The steering rack seal failure is a common problem on the 2008 on C5 and there have been many reports of it on here. It may be worthwhile applying some grease where the column shaft joins the rack since it seems to rust and may be causing the damage/wear to the seal. How much did the dealer charge to fix the steering rack, being a common problem it will be of interest to many people, existing owners and potential buyers ?
  18. Welcome to the forum. This is a common failure point on the 2.2 hdi 136 bhp engine. The plastic socket breaks. It comes complete with the actuator at the end of the rod and the part is called a diaphragm (full name swirl control diaphragm), Citroen part no. 036387 and cost about £20 5 years ago when I had to replace one. To replace the complete part is awkward but it is possible to just swap the plastic socket over, try removing the broken one first to see how to do it. Also clean up the ball and maybe use a bit of grease on it. When it failed on our car I noticed the performance was not as good but the fuel economy hd improved quite a lot, from about 50 to 60 mpg but that may have been coincidence. Others have reported the engine management light coming on and esp faults. If you look on the C5 Technical section there is a pinned topic of Common Problems on the C5 that is worth looking at. It includes this failure and has a link to a topic on how to replace the part.
  19. You could try borrowing a fob key to see if it would work by just initialising it but it may not, otherwise the car security would not be that good. It may need the diagnostic procedure using a Lexia to get it to work and if so a remote off ebay would work. On one of the C5 forum sections there is a pinned topic of members who are able to help others with diagnostics so this is worth checking. I would send a message to coastline taxis to see what he thinks, he works on a lot of Citroens and probably has come across this before but does not visit the forum every day so may have not seen this topic yet. In an ideal world where money was no problem, you would visit a Citroen dealer, get a new remote key and get them to replace the passenger door lock mechanism which I think includes the switch that tells the car if the door is closed or open - hence why I suspect this is not working the central locking when the key is used in the door. If your car indicates if a door is open you may notice the passenger door never shows when it is open. As a minimum I would replace the door lock mechanism after checking the wiring and depending on the response from coastline taxis, look at the remote option from ebay. There are a few different Citroen part nos. for the locks and the 3 door car has different nos. also. To get the right part no. you need to use the parts diagrams with your VIN but it could be 9135FA. The parts diagrams can be seen as a free service if you register as another professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club, then use your VIN (VIS) top left on the diagrams to find your car. if you look under Bodywork, Front doors and trims you will find the door locks. If you look under Characterisitics it will list the details of your car and it should confirm it has central locking. http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres
  20. Citroen's procedures for adding a new key also require a diagnostic as well as the synchronisation procedure in Haynes for battery replacement. 1. RemarksWhen adding or replacing a vehicle key, it is necessary to perform the following operations :Key programming procedureSynchronise the high frequency remote controlsN.B. : The vehicle keys are allocated to a single BSI.CAUTION : Initialising a new key will require all the keys to be initialised.2. Diagnostic tools"LEXIA 4171-T" station."PROXIA 4165-T" station."LEXIA 3" station."PROXIA 3" station.3. Registering the keys3.1. Initialisation procedure using the "LEXIA" diagnostic toolMake the following selections in the diagnostic tool :"DIAGNOSIS"Select the vehicle"GLOBAL TEST""BSI ECU""INITIALISATION""KEY INITIALISATION"Follow the instructions given in the diagnostic tool.3.2. Initialisation procedure using the " PROXIA" diagnostic toolMake the following selections in the diagnostic tool :"DIAGNOSIS"Select the vehicle"GLOBAL TEST""BSI ECU""INITIALISATION""KEY INITIALISATION"Follow the instructions given in the diagnostic tool.N.B. : The "PARAMETER MEASURES" menu can be used to check the number of keys initialised . The number of keys initialised indicates the total number of vehicle keys. The number of high frequency remote controls initialised indicates the number of high frequency remote controls synchronised.4. Synchronise the high frequency remote controlsPerform the following operations :1 - Switch off the ignition and take out the key2 - Wait 1 minute without pressing the buttons of any remote control3 - Place the key of the high frequency remote control to be synchronised in position "ignition+"4 - Within 10 seconds, press the locking button for 5 seconds5 - Switch off the ignition and take out the key6 - Repeat the procedure with the other keys from point N°3, otherwise move on to point N°77 - Wait 30 seconds, the remote controls are synchronisedCarry out a locking / unlocking test of the vehicle’s doors and tailgate.N.B. : If the test for locking/unlocking of doors and tailgate is not correct, recommence the synchronisation operations for all the ignition keys that have a high frequency remote control.
  21. If you remove the towbar wiring fuses see if that lets the parking sensors work since if a Citroen system has been installed it could be they are automatically disabled when a trailer is connected. Also look at the towbar electrics socket, some have a spring loaded pin that is wired to disconnect the car fog lights and possibly this is stuck in as if a trailer is connected which would prevent the car fog lights working and maybe the parking sensors - so could be a simple fix with a spray of wd40 and freeing the pin. The dpf eolys additive level appears to be low, or if it has been topped up, the level has not been reset. However, on early cars this needed the additive ecu to be replaced so is unlikely to be done. On here people say the additive will continue to be dosed if the tank is not empty, despite the warning message, and the dpf will not block up. It would appear the abs valve block has a fault. Is there another diagnostic screen for the Nav and which will give info on the mapping cd installed ? The screen you have shown is an extra one if there is a colour display. The HFr connection test is to see if the fibre optic is present - 'Checks that the fibre optic is indeed connected. First activate the function' The images of the stalk tests have not been displayed in your post. On early cars it appears the stalk end buttons repeated the last navigation message - the lighting one for colour screens and the wiper one for mono chrome screens. If the high level stop light has water in it then it could be a circuit board fault in it instead of faulty wiring and a new light may be needed. If you need a new one a bit of black sealant around the red lens/black body joint may help prevent it raining in again.
  22. Something you could try to see if there is a problem with the passenger door lock. When using the central locking, if one of the doors is not closed, the central locking will try to lock the doors but then immediately unlock and sound as if the locks are bouncing shut and then open. If you use the dash button to lock the doors but keep the passenger door open, do all the doors try to lock and then unlock ? If not, then there may be a problem with the passenger door lock mechanism (or its wiring). Also try this with different doors open. If the passenger lock proves to be faulty you could try a used one. In the Haynes manual for the C4, it gives the following on page 11.18 to initialise a remote after replacing its battery but I do not know if this will work for a remote from another car so that it would work on your car: 'To initialise the unit after renewing the battery, put the key in the ignition and leave it in the off position. Then switch on the ignition (without starting) and immediately press the locking button on the key for 10 seconds. Then switch off the ignition and remove the key from the ignition lock. The key remote should now be fully operational.' In your case you would need to put your non remote key in the ignition switch but use the lock button on the remote. You would probably need to keep the remote away from the ignition switch so its chip does not interfere with the immobilser (the transponder that detects the chip is on the ignition lock barrel). On Citroen keys some have a separate immobiliser chip in the key to the printed circuit board such as our 2003 C3 but on others the chip is part of the PCB. If the C4 has a separate chip then possibly you could remove it from your key and put it in a remote key case in place of one already there. You would also need to see if the key blade can be removed from your key and put in a remote one - on remote ones the blade is held by a roll pin which can be pushed out with the blade part open, the blade swapped and the pin put back.
  23. Thankyou for the advice. As a quick fix the Admiral docs were viewed on a relative's lap top with IE10. They had to be checked asap to make sure an address and mileage change had been correctly carried out since in the past changes have not always been carried out correctly but this time only a phone no. was wrongly noted. Longer term though the browser may need to be changed and when the insurance is due for renewal maybe go somewhere else.
  24. Welcome to the forum. Possibly some water has got in to the electrics, maybe if the drains at either side of the windscreen are a bit blocked and it has run down inside the bulkhead. You could also have a look under the bonnet. Hopefully once everything has dried out the car will be ok without needing anything doing. This is from the C5 Technical section Common Problems pinned topic 12. Wet driver's footwell, mark 1 C5 (2001 TO 2004 model), mark 2 C5 (2004 to 2008 model) and mark 3 C5 (2008 on model). Rain from the windscreen and the middle grommet of the wiper arm drips in to the cabin air intake, runs down the inside of the cabin firewall and soaks the carpet. It is a bad design of the air intake, not carried over to the mark 2 C5. I fixed this on our hatchback by putting a plate under the wiper grommet over the air intake to direct water away, put holes in the air intake to drain water before reaching the firewall, used lots of sealant behind the holes and at the firewall. This problem has also been reported on the mark 2 C5 due to a build up of debris below the bulk head - see this topic from Mike Lane http://www.citroen-o...ess/#entry85106 This problem has also been reported on the mark 3 C5 - see this topic http://www.citroen-o...ter-getting-in/
  25. Many Citroen cars are supplied new with one remote key and one key without the remote. Both have the immobilser chip so they will start the car. You may have an original key and the previous owner has lost the remote one. Since the central locking works from the dash button there is a good chance if you get a remote key it will work the central locking - whether one from ebay can be programmed for your car I do not know but hopefully another member will help with this. You may find locking the doors with the dash button and then opening a door will unlock all of them so trying this and wanting just the passenger door to unlock as mentioned in your last post may not work. This is from page 39 of the handbook (found using the link above) which says using the key in the door lock should work the central locking, so possibly there is a fault such as a broken wire where they go between the passenger door and body. Central locking using the key A brief action with the key locks the vehicle. Deadlocking: Central locking using the key A second action straightaway with the key deadlocks the vehicle. It is then impossible to open the doors from either inside or outside the vehicle. A long action with the key closes the windows. Note: With the vehicle stationary and the engine switched off, locking is signalled by the flashingoftheinteriorlockingcontrolwarninglamp. If any of the doors, or the boot, is open or not properly closed, central locking does not operate. Electronic immobiliser The ELECTRONIC IMMOBILISER device locks the engine supply system. The system activates automatically as the key is removed from the ignition. All the vehicle’s keys contain an electronic immobiliser device. After you switch on the ignition, a dialogue starts between the key and the electronic immobiliser device. The metallic part of the key must be correctly deployed in order to ensure a successful dialogue. If the key is not recognised, starting is not possible. If this occurs, leave your vehicle immobilised and contact a CITROËN dealer
