  1. You have already posted your driver's door window switch is not working so my previous reply still applies: 1. Possibly there is a switch fault such as it needs cleaning internally or replacing or depending on what the symptoms are, there is a wiring fault such as where it goes between the door and body.
  2. Welcome to the forum. If you go to the south Lake District Lakeland Motor museum there is a 1974 DS20 to have a look at, as well as a 1990 2CV, a 1921 Type A 10CV with a very basic looking engine and a 1952 11BL. A history of Citroen can be found here with a picture of the 2CV prototype http://www.citroen.co.uk/about-citroen/our-brand/history
  3. If there are any bolts through bushes on the suspension these would normally be tightened with the wheels on the ground but you could try spraying with wd40 to see if it points to any particular bush/part that is squeaking and then that could be greased.
  4. This topic by Weeksie is worth a read, he replaced the head gasket (amongst other parts) and made some clamps out of wood and the liners did not move. http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/23157-timing-marks/
  5. Pictures have to be loaded on to another site such as photobucket and then a link to it can be put on this forum. A look on ebay comes up with this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/252077784587?adgroupid=13585920426&hlpht=true&hlpv=2&rlsatarget=kwd-75951447066&adtype=pla&ff3=1&lpid=122&poi=&ul_noapp=true&limghlpsr=true&device=c&chn=ps&campaignid=207297426&crdt=0&ff12=67&ff11=ICEP3.0.0-L&ff14=122&viphx=1&ops=true&ff13=80 You could always use a Citroen dealer for the part.
  6. Welcome to the forum. A couple of topics to look at http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/forum/5-questions-about-the-citroen-c5/ http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/20279-common-problems-rev-392015/ leaking steering racks seem to be one of the common problems and unless you get a low mileage car, the dpf and eolys fluid wil be due to be serviced. You need to allow a few hundred pounds for each of these if you do not have a warranty and the servicing is not up to date.
  7. You are are probably an expert on the C3 timing belt now. When I did the belt on our C3 I found getting the tensioner set up following the Haynes manual did not seem straight forward and had a few goes at it since its setting seemed to change when the engine was rotated. There was a recent topic where there was worry that the cylinder liners could move when replacing the head gasket to stop an oil leak. Did you have any problems and did you bother clamping the liners whilst the head was off ?
  8. In the title it has 2003 so I guess that is the year and it will be a 70bhp engine.
  9. What year of C5 are you thinking of ? Some of the base models have steel wheels with plastic trims such as Azzana and Lapland, maybe you are thinking of these. The mark 2 also had Suzuka alloys on exclusive models.
  10. Welcome to the forum. An internet search on P1092 seems to be a manufacturer specific code but it may be fuel trim too lean - possibly there is a lambda sensor fault or maybe an air leak. You need to look at live data to check the lambda sensor. A cheap code reader may not have Citroen specific codes so might suggest the wrong cause of a fault. What code reader are you using ? Things that change when the engine is hot include the cam and crank sensors, the egr valve, the temperature sensors. If you are going to start replacing parts you would be better getting a dealer to do a diagnostic with the right equipment to save replacing parts that are ok.
  11. I suppose removing the eolys fluid tank is one way to fill it. On the C5 you simply unclip a pipe on the tank and connect a pipe from the filling container to it and then let the fluid run in and looking at a picture in the C4 Haynes manual it looks as if this can also be done on the C4. The fluid is usually injected into the fuel tank each time you fill up with diesel and there should be magnets in the fuel tank filler cap which work a sensor when the cap is removed/replaced so the car knows it has been filled up with diesel (at least it is like this on the C5). I hope now you have had the work done your car is now ok.
  12. Check you have connected all the sensors but otherwise you will need to use a code reader to find out the fault code since it could be any of the engine sensors - cam shaft, crankshaft (but this one would normally stop the engine), inlet lambda sensor fault or if bad fuelling it may be out of range, catalyst not working shown by outlet lambda sensor but unless this is due to bad fuelling it would not affect the running, MAP sensor, injector failure, spark plug or ignition coil problem or its wiring (the earth wire at the gearbox end of the coil can easily snap). Maybe you could do a compression test or look at the spark plugs to see if one cylinder is at fault such as valves not fully seated. Was there any damage to the cam shaft or rocker gear ?
  13. The wiring diagram in the Haynes manual shows the washer pump only has 2 wires going to it so if it turns one way but not the other then the pump and its wiring are not going to be the problem. At the engine fuse box the pump uses fuse F14 10 amp (according to Haynes but check your handbook) but then goes to 2 relays to run the pump in opposite directions. These relays will be built in to the fuse box so probably are not replaceable but you could check for damage in the fusebox. It also shows for the engine fuse box the front wiper motor uses fuse F17 30 amp and a relay built in. When the pump/wiper switches are used you could have a listen for the relays working with the fuse box lid removed - if not then the problem may be the stalk/comms 2000 unit under the steering wheel.
  14. How did you get on at the dealer ? It is as though a relay is sticking on so whilst the ignition is switched off the comms 2000 switch unit under the steering wheel is still live. On our C5 when the battery has been flat the wipers and lights have come on when trying to start it but that is with the key in the ignition.
  15. The handbook will advise on how the car should be started but it could be the throttle plate needs a clean to remove any carbon build up.
  16. Welcome to the forum. I hope you have fixed this by now. The message is saying the key is not being recognised by the immobiliser system. Try your spare key but since the cause could be many it is best to get a Citroen dealer to diagnose the problem.
  17. Welcome to the forum. If wiper arms are seized to the spindle a puller is usually needed such as this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/391151332886?adgroupid=13585920426&hlpht=true&hlpv=2&rlsatarget=kwd-119188548786&adtype=pla&ff3=1&lpid=122&poi=&ul_noapp=true&limghlpsr=true&device=c&chn=ps&campaignid=207297426&crdt=0&ff12=67&ff11=ICEP3.0.0-L&ff14=122&viphx=1&ops=true&ff13=80
  18. You probably already know this, but remember to tell your insurance company about any mods you do to your car, no matter how small, since if they are not told and you make a claim you could find they will not pay out.
  19. Welcome to the forum. There are a few pages on this Peugeot forum that may help http://peugeotrczforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1987&sid=0819c0bf6e16438093e43de37b973696
  20. First thing to check would be at the gearbox end of the cylinder head where there is a plastic ball joint. This is on the swirl flap actuator and the plastic socket breaks. The part is called a diaphragm and a few years ago was about £20. It is a pain to replace the whole part but if the diaphragm is ok you can just swap the plastic end bit in a few minutes. This is from the Common Problems pinned topic: 11. C5 2.2 hdi 136 hp only, swirl plate diaphragm actuator ball cup breaks. Vacuum leak/turbo fault codes (any engine). Located at the left end of the cylinder head. Symptoms may be loss of acceleration, engine management light, increased fuel economy. The plastic ball cup may be replaced on its own (10 mins) or the complete actuator replaced (several hours DIY), about £20 but the cup is not available separately. This topic has a few notes on how to replace the part http://www.citroen-o...ragm#entry40936 There is a diy fix here if not able or want to get the dealer part http://www.citroen-o...-to/#entry82945 I read in Car Mechanics a case where the actuator had a vacuum leak which resulted in the engine management light and limp mode and fault codes for over boost and turbo regulation fault. The slow loss of vacuum reduced it also to the turbo wastegate so turbo boost level dropped, the ecu then increased the boost control duty cycle which then deactivated the swirl control increasing the vacuum boost and tripping the EML/limp mode. These fault codes have also been reported here and it turned out to be a split in the vacuum pipe to the egr valve actuator - so any cause of a vacuum leak should be looked for before touching the turbo.
  21. I have just seen this recall for 19 C3s made in 2013 but it should not apply to your car R/2013/068 Exact Model: C3 & DS3 Description: REAR SCREEN MAY DETACH VIN: VF7******DW535215 to VF7******DW542781 Build Date: 25 and 26 March 2013 Numbers: 19 Defect: It has been identified that it is possible that the rear screen seal may not be to specification. This could lead to water ingress into the boot area which in extreme cases could cause the rear screen to become insecure in its housing. Action: Recall all affected vehicles and replace the rear screen seal. Launch Date: 07 June 2013
  22. Welcome to the forum. When we got our first C3 we found the clutch pedal had a high biting point and others on here have also made similar comments when first getting the C3. It just took a bit of getting used to. The pedal height is not adjustable. Similarly the brake pedal requires very little effort to apply the brakes and again it just took time to get used to. I would think these comments will apply to the C1 so in a few days hopefully you will be used to the pedals and then think there was something wrong with your old car.
  23. I would get a copy of the Haynes manual for the C3, either buying one or looking in a library for one. The washer pump for the front and rear wipers is shared but it runs in opposite directions. If you can hear it running when trying to wash the front wipers then the washer tank or pump outlet may be blocked and need cleaning or the washer jets may be blocked and need poking out with a pin. To access the washer tank and pump the Haynes manual says to remove the right front wheel and then the wheel arch liner. To get to the front wiper motor you need to remove the plastic scuttle below the windscreen.
  24. The handbooks include everything possible that may be fitted to the full model range so things that are included on an exclusive model will be in it but are not on the other cars unless were fitted as an option. How many miles has the car done ? The timing belt frequency for the 1.6 hdi is usually 10 years or 150k miles if sooner. The exhaust particle filter for the 1.6 hdi is 75k miles for the eolys fluid top up and 87500 miles for the dpf filter replacement.
  25. Welcome to the forum. It might be a fuel cooler if it looks like this Citroen part 1579LN http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-807-EXPERT-3-CITROEN-C8-DISPATCH-FUEL-COOLER-GENUINE-1579LN-/141682541192?nma=true&si=nHGviuxweh6vVoldOGqyE0IpmM0%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 If so there should be threaded studs (cage screw part number 840351 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-PEUGEOT-CITROEN-6-x-20mm-CAGED-BOLT-x-4-840351-/221131385032 ) clipped to the floor going through the middle and back of it with nuts on to hold it in place. There should also be 2 fuel return pipes to it.
