  1. Thankyou for getting back to us. The job did not read too bad in the manuals, what bit needed 2 people ?
  2. Welcome to the forum. How many miles has the car done ? You can check the engine mounts, particularly the one at the back but you should also consider if the dual mass flywheel needs replacing - try an internet search for symptoms of failure to check such as juddering, vibration, rattling noise. Maybe the tickover rpm is too low due to a fueling fault or an air fault such as a hose coming off or leaking. Engine mounts are maybe £30 each (3 in total if they do all need replacing) but if the flywheel and clutch need replacing the parts could be around £400 and several hours labour depending on the engine. If a fueling/air flow fault such as an injector then costs will depend on the fault. Before spending any money on parts I would get a Citroen dealer to check the car but you could have a look around the engine to see if any of the air supply hoses or ducting are disconnected. I have deleted your other similar topic so any replies are all together.

    Oil Leak

At the back of the engine is the egr valve system so it could be one of the seals on this is leaking. If the module that the egr valve sits in needs refitting that is about 3 hours but if just the valve that is about 1 hour. Lower down is the oil level probe. There is also the fuel filter at the back. If the leak is not much it must be tempting to leave it alone and maybe at the next dealer visit or MOT (if you do your own servicing) ask them to have a look whilst on a ramp.
  4. I wonder how the OP got on, he has not been back yet to look at the replies, makes you think sometimes it is not worth bothering.

    Oil Leak

Welcome to the forum. Some details of the car are needed. The year, engine size, petrol or diesel and whether automatic or manual gearbox.
  6. I suspect you have climate control since in a previous post you mentioned heated seats which tend to be on the dearer models. With climate control you set the temperature on the heater panel and the temperature is automatically controlled with electric motors adjusting the heating flaps. In a manual system you move levers/dials to adjust the heating flaps. This is from the common problems pinned topic with some help on the climate control heating flap motors: 10. The air conditioning only gives cold air at one side or does not cool much. The evaporator matrix cooling the air on the C5 is long and if the amount of refrigerant is low then there will not be enough to cool all the matrix for both sides of the cabin. First step should be a regass then if that does not work and there are no leaks then look at replacing the air flap control motors. A regass may be about £50, a flap new motor about £60. It could also be damage to the air flap shaft motor fitting - see this post http://www.citroen-o...c5-2002-aircon/ . I had to have both C5s regassed when about 7 years old, on the second one there was a printout that showed there was only 93 g of refrigerant left and that 525 g were put back in yet the air con was working and gas could be heard going through the pressure control valve but the air was not cooling much. Also have a look at this topic for a possible fix to a broken heater flap connection http://www.citroen-o...or-air-bag-ecu/ Have a look at this topic for alternative ways to fix the broken flap connection by extending the motor spindle using one from another motor or buying a motor already with an extended spindle http://www.citroen-o...ulation-aircon/ Have a look at this topic for a case where a new comms 2000 unit fixed the manual air con not working http://www.citroen-o...-manual-aircon/
  7. Maybe a valve in the pump had stuck and tapping it with a hammer freed it. It will pay to carry a hammer in the car in case it happens again. You might want to check the old filter for bits of metal in case the fuel lift pump in the fuel tank is wearing out.
  8. What are the fault codes ? If the additive is not working them maybe the dpf is blocked (some people remove it and water jet it to remove the ash), if a Lexia was used for the diagnostic you could check the dpf pressures and regeneration data. You probably do not want to go to a dealer but possibly a diagnostic check is needed rather than just reading fault codes if these are not giving the correct fix.
  9. Thankyou for getting back to us. You would never have suspected the air flow meter was faulty from the error messages.
  10. Best way to check is to look on the Citroen parts diagrams using the VIN (VIS) of both cars. This is a free service if you register as another professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres
  11. Welcome to the forum. For the sat nav to work, as well as the sat nav screen you would need the sat nav radio, the gps aerial and the wiring. This was discussed on the C-Crosser section and it was suggested the low cost option is to use a separate sat nav such as a Tom Tom or Garmin http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/22325-installing-c-crosser-incar-entertainment-system/
  12. A look in the Haynes manual suggests changing the lower arm may be a bit more difficult. To remove the ball joint from the swivel arm the slot needs to be opened up a touch and a lever may be needed to help remove it from the swivel arm. The ball joint has a protective cover that needs to be re-used and fits in the slot. A torx bit is needed when undoing the inner bolts to stop them turning as the nut is undone. The torque values in the Haynes manual differ to the ones given above which come from Citroen's procedures. Since the inner nuts have a high torque, the car needs to be well supported when undoing them and tightening them.
  13. Welcome to the forum. If you are lucky the message may clear after a few starts but a search has shown other people have changed batteries and the message did not clear but no solution appears to have been found. You might consider checking the battery voltage in one of the remotes in case the new battery also has a low voltage or check its connections are clean.
  14. Welcome to the forum. Is your car the 1.4 petrol ? The engine fan would normally only run if the engine is getting hotter than normal such as when moving slowly in traffic, or if the engine is running but the car is not moving, or if the weather is hot, or if the air conditioning is being used. When the engine is switched off the fan may still run for a few minutes until it cools down but should then stop. Is the temperature gauge showing normal which on our previous 2003 1.4 petrol C3 was 3 bars or is it higher than this ? Our C3 would sometimes run the fan at low speed whilst still on 3 bars but if more bars would run at its higher speed which sounds louder (it is a 2 speed fan). If the gauge is high all the time it could be one of the 2 engine temperature sensors is faulty so the car thinks it is hot and the fan is running all the time. You should check the coolant (water mixed with anti freeze) level is about half way up in the coolant expansion tank which is on the left side of the engine compartment as you look from the front of the car. The engine is cooled by water/anti freeze coolant being pumped around the engine to the cabin heater matrix and to the front of the engine compartment where it goes through a radiator. Air goes through the radiator to cool down the water and it then circulates back round the engine. The air flow is provided as the car moves along or if not enough to remove the heat the fan will run.
  15. I have looked at all your past posts and so far you have not given any details of your car. What year and model/engine is it ? There are different part numbers for the suspension arms depending on the engine and rpo number so when buying the parts you need to use your VIN. If it is the 2002 to 2009 model it seems easy enough to remove, from the procedures. - remove the swivel arm ball joint bolt and disengage the joint from the swivel - undo the 2 bolts at the inner end of the suspension arm and it should now be free to remove. On refitting the inner bolts are tightened to 140 Nm and the swivel arm bolt to 40 Nm using a new nut. The ball joint to suspension arm bolts are 55 Nm.
  16. Welcome to the forum. There is a Haynes manual for the C4 which is worth getting. Usual advice for the 1.6 hdi is to give it frequent oil/filter changes using the correct oil to help the turbo last since they have a reputation for early failure.
  17. Welcome to the forum. Haynes do a manual for the C4 which is worth getting.
  18. If the eml came on at the same time as the engine cut out then it is probable a fault code is stored. When you turn the ignition on can you hear the fuel pump in the tank running ?
  19. If the engine management light has come on then fault codes will be stored on the car which can be read using a code reader. This will give a good indication of what is wrong. Without reading the fault codes you could replace many parts before finding the fault.
  20. If by cam followers you mean hydraulic tappets, then possibly by compressing them the inlet valves are not opening to let in any air to the cylinders to be compressed. I did not notice anything in the Haynes manual about having to compress the tappets before fitting them.
  21. Possibly but I am not familiar with them.
  22. Welcome to the forum. It is likely the reverse light switch or its connector or wiring are at fault. It is probably located on the top of the gearbox. If you pull off its electrical connector and put a wire across the connector pins you should find the lights will work if the switch is faulty.
  23. You could check the battery with a meter for enough voltage. This is Citroen's procedure for the keys and you may need to do section 4. 1. RemarksWhen adding or replacing a vehicle key, it is necessary to perform the following operations :Key programming procedureSynchronise the high frequency remote controlsN.B. : The vehicle keys are allocated to a single BSI.CAUTION : Initialising a new key will require all the keys to be initialised.2. Diagnostic tools"LEXIA 4171-T" station."PROXIA 4165-T" station."LEXIA 3" station."PROXIA 3" station.3. Registering the keys3.1. Initialisation procedure using the "LEXIA" diagnostic toolMake the following selections in the diagnostic tool :"DIAGNOSIS"Select the vehicle"GLOBAL TEST""BSI ECU""INITIALISATION""KEY INITIALISATION"Follow the instructions given in the diagnostic tool.3.2. Initialisation procedure using the " PROXIA" diagnostic toolMake the following selections in the diagnostic tool :"DIAGNOSIS"Select the vehicle"GLOBAL TEST""BSI ECU""INITIALISATION""KEY INITIALISATION"Follow the instructions given in the diagnostic tool.N.B. : The "PARAMETER MEASURES" menu can be used to check the number of keys initialised . The number of keys initialised indicates the total number of vehicle keys. The number of high frequency remote controls initialised indicates the number of high frequency remote controls synchronised.4. Synchronise the high frequency remote controlsPerform the following operations :1 - Switch off the ignition and take out the key2 - Wait 1 minute without pressing the buttons of any remote control3 - Place the key of the high frequency remote control to be synchronised in position "ignition+"4 - Within 10 seconds, press the locking button for 5 seconds5 - Switch off the ignition and take out the key6 - Repeat the procedure with the other keys from point N°3, otherwise move on to point N°77 - Wait 30 seconds, the remote controls are synchronisedCarry out a locking / unlocking test of the vehicle’s doors and tailgate.N.B. : If the test for locking/unlocking of doors and tailgate is not correct, recommence the synchronisation operations for all the ignition keys that have a high frequency remote control.
  24. My first guess would be the wiper motor is faulty or its connection (particularly if it started to play up before it completely stopped working) rather than the comms 2000 so if you access the motor you could try a live feed to it to see if it moves. To get to the motor needs the wipers/scuttle removing and this is covered in the Haynes manual. The wiper motor is Citroen part no. 6405J3 and there is a new one for £40.50 here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-GENUINE-CITROEN-C5-01-08-MK2-FRONT-WIPER-MOTOR-0390241701-6405J3-0390241711-/261309399291 and from citroencarparts.net is £59.06 so will be about this from a Citroen dealer.
  25. If the EML did not come on there may not be any fault codes to read so you may need a diagnostic check at a Citroen dealer. If you do buy a code reader one with some live engine data is more useful such as this one from Gendan https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_FXNT200.html but if you want to look at more than the engine sensors Chinese copies of a Citroen Lexia are available from ebay and also easydiagnostics to install on a lap top.
